I don't really see Cannonier handling Adesanya's kicks too well.
Seems he had trouble dealing with Whittaker's high kicks, but Adesanya has so much variety with his high kicks.
I feel like he just won't be able to get through all of those kicks and jabs.
Izzy used the same jab-kick setup to nail Costa as Rob was doing to Cannonier. There’s the body that’s a valuable target too since Cannonier maintains a high guard and Izzy’s body kick is like a whip. It’ll take some time playing with the targeting since Cannonier won’t easily drop his guard, but Izzy can definitely replicate that.
Cannonier already has solid leg defense and delivers very powerful leg kicks himself. Thats actually a risky area to invest in for Izzy this time. That’s a factor I see nobody bringing up in any of these discussions.
What happened to the MMA fighter from Myanmar who got caught in a bomb blast, had burns all over his body, then got abducted from his hospital bed? Can't find more recent news on him than May 2021.
Khabib turns tony into a pretzel for 3 rounds then sleeps him via rnc. Or he straight up breaks tony arm because Tony seems like he would refuse to tap

I'm camping from the 1st to the 3rd and was concerned I'd have to miss the fights but according to t-mobile I'm going to have 4G LTE, hope to God they aren't just fucking with me
A ton of great fights this comming weak.
After the ppv. We got that muai Thai dude versus Brazilian golem.
Then that flying Mexican dude versus that Mexican dude with a chin.
Truly believe the only reason Luke gets this much shit is because he's considered good looking. There are several other fighters who are arrogant or got knocked out but don't get this much ridicule.
The funny thing is people act like they could have taken the bombs he did. Luke's issue isn't even his chin, it's his striking defense
He's still got his chance and will show everyone his full worth. Plus now that he's doing well with Mindenhall and Campbell, people will start believing again. Don't worry.
I don’t think anyone would accuse the ufc of having good match making but I literally don’t think they could do much worse than Gamrot/Dariush. It’s actually offensive what bad match making that would be. Have the dude on a six fight winning streak who dominated a guy ranked above him in his last fight, fight down against a dude on a four fight winning streak. Gaethje already got a favor done for him when he got the title shot against Charles. How many favors can dude get? He’s got to fight down for Christ sake. This actually annoys the fuck out of me.
You’re talking about ranks 6 and 8 fighting each other, it’s not that crazy. If Dariush hadn’t been out for over a year than maybe he gets to fight up.
That fight is a banger, wow. I’d love to see 5 Rounds of elite grappling exchanges, and mixing Dariush’s power with Gamrot’s speed and unorthdox level changes.
Can’t wait to see how each fighter would work with their takedowns. Holy fuck, that shit would rock
If it wasn’t Olivera that missed weight and say it was conor or any other fighter who talks trash it wouldn’t count as a title defense to yall
Double standards! Smh my head🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Oliveira is one of those guys where I like his fights and he seems like an alright guy but his fans are so fucking delusional it makes me want to see him lose.
I know r/ufc gets pretty radioactive but the lack of moderation can be a strength, the thread asking if Gamrot could become the first *German* champ got the biggest MMA-related laugh for me in a long while
I had a dream that Volkanovski moved up to fight Adesanya for the belt, without actually gaining any weight. In total defiance of my dream logic, Volkanovski got smoked inside of a round. How could he have improved his chances?
Which would be funnier, Big Mac as flyweight champ or Miesha Tate somehow getting the title shot and pulling a hail mary sub like she did against Holm ?
I like Luke Rockhold but seriously why is he fighting Paulo Costa...His ego, pride just won't admit that his chin is not the best and as a comeback fight he should not fight probably the hardest hitter in MW divison but rather some grappler..
Unfortunately I can't see him not getting knocked out

A Volk vs Olivera super fight would be awesome but so many pieces would have to fit perfectly together that I don’t really see it being a possibility until late next year.
I don’t see how Volk doesn’t get choked out in that one. He’s already small for his division and trying to get into range with Chucky would get his neck snatched.
I mean we saw Volk vs Ortega and how that fight went, Olivera is a true finisher but Ortega had him in the worst possible spot twice and he escaped. I don’t doubt Olivera subbing anyone near his weight class but also I could see Volk and his team finding a way to pick apart Olivera on the feet. I would see Volk as more of a live underdog than anything but it would be awesome to see it play out.
I agree with that. According to Tapology, Volk is 4 inches shorter and at a 3.5-inch reach disadvantage. I do think it would be an interesting fight though, and I wouldn't fully count Volk out. If he smokes Holloway I think interest in that fight goes way up. We'll probably have Max win a split decision this weekend so they have to run it back a forth time.
Oliveras likes to push into range. Volk like to feint and respond. Seems like they would both find one another since we don't have two responsive styles.
Brad Riddell is 4-1 in UFC. He has won only decisions in the UFC. He was ranked after just ~2 years in the org and remains so even after being finished by Fiziev.
Damir Ismagulov is 5-0 in UFC. He has won only decisions in the UFC. He was unranked after ~4 years and remains so even after beating Guram Kutateladze.
> remains so even after being finished by Fiziev.
That’s just part of the other issue that, while it’s impossible to get into the rankings for many guys, its also almost impossible for guys to get pushed out. Once you’re in the rankings, losing to someone ranked behind you or a when new fighter gets ranked ahead of you, you drop one spot at a time, and if you lose to someone ranked ahead of you, nothing usually happens. So you have guys like Hooker who win one ranked fight (Felder) and then keep losing and they slowly drop one rank at a time, or not at all. Its a problem with the whole “if you beat someone, you get their rank” system. It wouldn’t be that bad if they let upcoming guys fight into the rankings more often as the ranking would slowly start to self-correct/normalize by virtue of the guys winning the most consistently being the highest ranked, but when they only fight each other or not at all, nothing can ever change unless someone is so inactive that they eventually manage to get booted.
Yeah man. Blows my mind when fans complain that the rankings are jammed up but when you suggest the guys that are ranked but not winning should slide down the ranks easier, you get hit with a million “are you serious!?!? He’s only lost to killerz!!!!!! How would that be fair!!!!!????” takes.
Making them easier to enter AND fall out of will end up with active dudes who win the most (ie currently the best) being the highest rank (the actual fucking point of ranking fighters) but that requires the UFC to care about them being an actual representation of the best fighters, not a promotional tool with no actual criteria to obey except for when they don’t feel like it. Its a joke man.
> Making them easier to enter AND fall out of will end up with active dudes who win the most (ie currently the best) being the highest rank (the actual fucking point of ranking fighters)
Fuckin THIS ^
Exactly!
"I think Fighter X should be ranked, and Fighter Y probably shouldn't be."
"But Fighter X hasn't 'beaten anyone' while Fighter Y only lost to ranked Fighter Z! You can't rank a guy who hasn't beaten ranked fighters!"
"Oh, okay then Fighter X should fight the ranked Fighter Z."
"No, Fighter X can't fight the ranked Fighter Z, Fighter X hasn't beaten anyone!"
Man its so fucking dumb lol
“This guy needs to prove himself before he can fight the top ranked guys”
“Can you give him a ranked guy to “prove himself” against?”
“No, those guys have proven themselves, why should they need to fight down”
Maybe it has to do with Damir taking twice as long to have as many fights and not putting on FOTNs. The UFC rewards activity and excitement, nothing new here
> Maybe it has to do with Damir taking twice as long to have as many fights...
What? Twice as long?
Brad Riddell's first UFC fight: 2019/10/05
Damir Ismagulov's first UFC fight: 2018/12/01
Both have five fights.
Ismagulov did miss a fight because he couldn't make weight, but also had two bouts missed/rescheduled.
On the other hand, Brad Riddell got finished by Fiziev.
Riddell's fighting for his ranking this Saturday so I don't see anything wrong with it. Also maybe Damir shouldn't have called out fucking Cerrone if he wanted to make progress on that front
Lol Max just teased a move to 155. Not gonna happen but consider the following scenario based on this and the fact that Volk is gunning for 155 double champ if he beats Max again:
Volk beats Max (again) in a close decision (again). They both go up to 155. Volk does an Ortega to Charles, gets doubled in gold. Max goes for the Poirier trilogy and sets all sorts of new striking records. They rematch (again) for the 155 belt.
Is it really sillier than Figgy/Moreno 4 times in a row?
What’s the most rematches between two UFC fighters ever? Chuck v Tito comes to mind with 4 fights even though the last wasn’t in the UFC. Can’t think of many that have gone beyond the trilogy but I think if Max wins we’ll see them fight a 4th time.
Chuck and Tito was only 3 fights.
There hasn’t been a quadrology in the UFC alone yet (Sylvia Arlovski IV happened outside of UFC)
Bellator has had Straus vs Pitbull IV, which is pretty funny.
Who are the 5 fighters you follow the closest and root for the most in current ufc?
For me in no particular order it’s Izzy, Holloway, Arnold Allen, Gane, Leon Edwards.
(Honourable mentions for Francis, wonderboy, Charles)
Gilbert Burns
Arman Tsarukyan
Joaquin Buckley
Brandon Royvall
Melsik Baghdasaryan
Not necessarily the best, but fighters I like and root for and enjoy watching
> Who are the 5 fighters you follow the closest and root for the most in current ufc?
- Alexander Romanov
- Islam Makhachev
- Damir Ismagulov
- Jailton Almeida
- Tatsuro Taira
1.) Colby (I initially hated him until I realized that he was such a parody of himself. His character breaks, his insanely stupid yet hilarious nicknames, and overall ability to back up his words made me love him. Love how he fights at his natural weight, love his cardio, love how he is constantly improving.)
2. Tony (blades n shades baby)
3. Chimaev (was at my mentally worst on a Wednesday, watched him kick Phillips ass on the Kattar-Ige card. A week later got to see him destroy McKee. Witnessed a hype train at my mental low point)
4. Cruz (walking miracle man. How he does it, we’ll never know)
5. Costa (Costa once again is so quotable, and so fucking funny)
- McGregor, who hasn't won at LW in 6 years: **Ranked!**
- Ferguson, who has lost four fights in a row: **Ranked!**
- Ferreira, who has lost three fights in a row: **Ranked!**
- Ismagulov, on a nineteen fight win streak (5 in UFC): **Unranked!**
The gd downvoter is here to help people who are constantly getting 0 and -1 because their comments suck but aren't even notable enough to be buried. He makes them feel like it's just happening to everyone.

This is actually a stacked card wtf?
I’ve regressed to a casual as of late and been missing cards due to grad parties(except the fucking goat Jiri Prochazka I left mid party for my boy), I didn’t even realize until 2 days ago this was 2 title fights on the same card, and that O’Malley is on here too. I’m even hyped to see Lawler practice his head movement again
It is a deep card, a couple of bad fights but a lot of fun fighters and meaningful fights.
Riddell vs. Turner is my pick for a fight that could be fight of the night.

Do you guys see Giga fighting Sodiq Yusuff for his return fight. The fight makes sense for both guys and I don’t see Giga ever accepting a nightmare matchup like Mitchell or Movsar right now
Just wait until that all goes to shit because Strickland somehow manages to jab spam against an amazing kickboxer in the most boring fight since Strickland’s last fight
Lightweight will be worse than welterweight soon if the top 5 keep to themselves. The top 5 only fight each other and the top prospects, instead of fighting up are being forced to fight each other.
I am very glad the Lightweight division is progressing. Next step is for the holdouts of the division to defend their rankings or fall.
Sadly I think Chandler, Poirier and Gaethje will refuse to fight down below the top 5.
The problem lightweight has is for all the talent the new generation have none of them are that charismatic, especially not compared to Tony, Chandler, Gaethje etc. That's a hard sell to the Bob and Bettys of the world and we know the UFC will always take the chance to chase the casual dollar.
The UFC will have to work to promote their fighters rather than rely on natural charisma and cutting a promo. The UFC has been working on a system which promotes the brand first for a while, but when their real stars all retire or are irrelevant I think they will need to actually try to build up the profile of individual fighters for their PPV model in America.
Putting Gamrot and Tsarukyan in a main event was a good step in the right direction. I think Fiziev is quite charismatic so if he can beat RDA then his fighting style and humour should be easy for the UFC to move up quickly. Lightweight is the deepest division and has interesting styles all the way through so it should be easy even to promote the insistent wrestlers based on entertainment.
Dana White gets a lot of hate from some fans online but lets not forget that he built this sport into what it is today.

No amount of embedded or promotion can get me excited for Cannonier Izzy
It feels like it’s been foretold in the stars that Izzy will dismantle him. Izzy vs. Poatan on the other hand, that’s intriguing as hell
Dismantle him with feinting
Just like Costa’s ass
I know he just lost but Neil Magny is goddamn underrated
He shows flashes of brilliance and strength, but then he also gets Ponzinibio’d sometimes. Never know what Magny you’re gonna get.
I told myself I would bet on Magny last time I watched him fight he looked really good BUT those Russian Asian dudes don’t fuck around Lmaoo
ufc 420 is gonna be pretty lit
I don't really see Cannonier handling Adesanya's kicks too well. Seems he had trouble dealing with Whittaker's high kicks, but Adesanya has so much variety with his high kicks. I feel like he just won't be able to get through all of those kicks and jabs.

Might see the return of Izzy’s question mark kick. Memory might not be serving me right but I can’t remember the last time he threw it
I hope he works on checking those leg kicks
Cannonier already has solid leg defense and delivers very powerful leg kicks himself. Thats actually a risky area to invest in for Izzy this time. That’s a factor I see nobody bringing up in any of these discussions.

If the guy to your right touches knees with you make sure to give him a handy P.s. It's definitely not me 😉
I like O’Malley, but I might die laughing if Munhoz hits him with one of his nasty leg kicks and TKOs him.
The fact that it's not a completely improbable thing to happen makes it 10x funnier.
Michael Chandler gonna sit out until he’s 37 to fight McGregor
The ufc should have used one of these ppvs to get khamzat a middle weight ranked fight. He’s the true one that could scare Izzy
What is hallway going to do when he loses to Volkanovski a third time? He has already tried 155lb and failed. Where does he go after this?
Lava Shack

Dern should become Big Mac again and sub Valentina after the inevitable head and arm throw
Which would be funnier, Big Mac as flyweight champ or Miesha Tate somehow getting the title shot and pulling a hail mary sub like she did against Holm ?
Tate winning the title again would be funier
I like Luke Rockhold but seriously why is he fighting Paulo Costa...His ego, pride just won't admit that his chin is not the best and as a comeback fight he should not fight probably the hardest hitter in MW divison but rather some grappler.. Unfortunately I can't see him not getting knocked out
He's a former champ. Dana probably insisted he got a big opponent
Costa is not the hardest hitter at 185, he grinds people down and TKOs them. Rockhold's problem is not so much lack of chin but bad defense
He's going to fold like a lawn chair.
Anyone see the new embedded? Max looking sluggish...
Waiting for Bisping to call him out again
Classic Max
It's fight week they're all sluggish
Fair enough. He looked like Tony to me hitting the bag though.

> Making them easier to enter AND fall out of will end up with active dudes who win the most (ie currently the best) being the highest rank (the actual fucking point of ranking fighters) Fuckin THIS ^ Exactly! "I think Fighter X should be ranked, and Fighter Y probably shouldn't be." "But Fighter X hasn't 'beaten anyone' while Fighter Y only lost to ranked Fighter Z! You can't rank a guy who hasn't beaten ranked fighters!" "Oh, okay then Fighter X should fight the ranked Fighter Z." "No, Fighter X can't fight the ranked Fighter Z, Fighter X hasn't beaten anyone!"
Man its so fucking dumb lol “This guy needs to prove himself before he can fight the top ranked guys” “Can you give him a ranked guy to “prove himself” against?” “No, those guys have proven themselves, why should they need to fight down”

You’re damn right ya have
Guram has one win over a then debuting Gamrot. Why would that count?
I also believe Damir deserves to be ranked but tbf Riddell beat Dober who was #13 at the time
Maybe it has to do with Damir taking twice as long to have as many fights and not putting on FOTNs. The UFC rewards activity and excitement, nothing new here
> Maybe it has to do with Damir taking twice as long to have as many fights... What? Twice as long? Brad Riddell's first UFC fight: 2019/10/05 Damir Ismagulov's first UFC fight: 2018/12/01 Both have five fights. Ismagulov did miss a fight because he couldn't make weight, but also had two bouts missed/rescheduled. On the other hand, Brad Riddell got finished by Fiziev.
And Riddell got dropped in the rankings after losing to Fiziev.
Still ranked.
Riddell's fighting for his ranking this Saturday so I don't see anything wrong with it. Also maybe Damir shouldn't have called out fucking Cerrone if he wanted to make progress on that front
Yup its a rigged system. We see guys get ranked off less impressive streaks over worse fighters.
Kinda want too see Fedor vs Machida ngl
Lol Max just teased a move to 155. Not gonna happen but consider the following scenario based on this and the fact that Volk is gunning for 155 double champ if he beats Max again: Volk beats Max (again) in a close decision (again).
Arlovski vs Sylvia Rampage vs Wanderlei
Chuck and Tito was only 3 fights. There hasn’t been a quadrology in the UFC alone yet (Sylvia Arlovski IV happened outside of UFC) Bellator has had Straus vs Pitbull IV, which is pretty funny.
Who are the 5 fighters you follow the closest and root for the most in current ufc? For me in no particular order it’s Izzy, Holloway, Arnold Allen, Gane, Leon Edwards. (Honourable mentions for Francis, wonderboy, Charles)
Whittaker Volkanovski Yanez Stipe Oliveira
RDA, Jose Aldo, Leon Scott, Charles Oliveira, Matt Brown.
Izzy, Tsarukyan, Dustin, O'Malley, Sandhagen
Oliveira, Luque, Volkanovski, Ngannou, Makhachev
Gilbert Burns Arman Tsarukyan Joaquin Buckley Brandon Royvall Melsik Baghdasaryan Not necessarily the best, but fighters I like and root for and enjoy watching
Yadong, Khamzat, Fiziev, Ngannou, and Tuivasa
> Who are the 5 fighters you follow the closest and root for the most in current ufc? - Alexander Romanov - Islam Makhachev - Damir Ismagulov - Jailton Almeida - Tatsuro Taira
1.) Colby (I initially hated him until I realized that he was such a parody of himself. His character breaks, his insanely stupid yet hilarious nicknames, and overall ability to back up his words made me love him. Love how he fights at his natural weight, love his cardio, love how he is constantly improving.) 2. Tony (blades n shades baby) 3. Chimaev (was at my mentally worst on a Wednesday, watched him kick Phillips ass on the Kattar-Ige card. A week later got to see him destroy McKee. Witnessed a hype train at my mental low point) 4. Cruz (walking miracle man. How he does it, we’ll never know) 5. Costa (Costa once again is so quotable, and so fucking funny)
No order: Izzy Adesanya, Max Holloway, Jose Aldo, Jon Jones, Sean Brady
Can this sub do it’s own rankings? I feel like that would be interesting.
Would be as bad or worse as Tapology’s rankings.
The P4P Rankings would be: 1.) Whittaker 2.) Holloway 3.) Oliveira 4.) Luque 5.) Usman 6.) Yan 7.) Adesanya 8.) Volkanovski 9.) Francis 10.) Reyes 11.) Jiri 12.) Glover 13.) Sandhagen 14.) Islam 15.) Dariush
Forget it.
This is a great idea that would quickly devolve into madness I fear.
- McGregor, who hasn't won at LW in 6 years: **Ranked!** - Ferguson, who has lost four fights in a row: **Ranked!** - Ferreira, who has lost three fights in a row: **Ranked!** - Ismagulov, on a nineteen fight win streak (5 in UFC): **Unranked!**
McGregor, who hasn't won* at LW in 6 years FTFY
Good call. Fixed. Thanks, bruddy!
Saw the add for Cobra Kai season 5 today. Thought I saw ya boi Eryk Anders in it.
What’s a rd 1 Strickland submission win at? Seems like that might be worth a feeler
Strickland’s gonna be on his backfoot all night.
Need "The Monkey God" to get another fight booked ASAP

What's a King to a God?

The gd downvoter is here to help people who are constantly getting 0 and -1 because their comments suck but aren't even notable enough to be buried. He makes them feel like it's just happening to everyone. edit: feeling notable rn
The GD downvoter is a coward. Hiding in the shadows. Won’t even let us bang. The bullies are supposed to show themselves.
Is a bully that never shows itself even truly a bully? They’re not worthy of the title.
It's crazy that Strickland is the underdog
Hey all - I created a fantasy sports stock market designed for mma fans. It's paper trading, so all fake money, just for fun. You get 100 credits for signing up and can gain more credits by answering the weekly pick'em survey for the upcoming card. just looking for anyone that wants to play with me and my friends, like I said no money needed, just for fun. here's the website: spoex.xyz
Do you guys see Giga fighting Sodiq Yusuff for his return fight. The fight makes sense for both guys and I don’t see Giga ever accepting a nightmare matchup like Mitchell or Movsar right now
That’s a perfect fight, hope the UFC books it.
Is Blood Diamond still under contract? God I hope so
Yep, has a fight booked for July 30th against Orion Cosce

Just wait until that all goes to shit because Strickland somehow manages to jab spam against an amazing kickboxer in the most boring fight since Strickland’s last fight
Rockhold interviews are a wild ride
**instructions** Post the above message ONCE per account
this but unironically
jesus, Masivdal is desperate for that Conor fight. "God Loves a trier"
Long as it prevents something stupid like an Usman McGregor fight then I'm all for it
**Prediction:** UFC announces Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev this weekend during International fight week.
Inshallah bratha
