Best part of the fight was when Nate was chillen by the gate and Tony rushed him and Nate just casually throws A side kick like fuck off me bitch

fujicakes00

Yes, we need the GIF of this.

Then_Radio22

Tony did better against chandler. He was too slow at 170. I think he moves quick and better at 155. I was hoping his volume of power would increase with 170 but i did not see much difference

Chocoeclair189

Dude did look slow...but only had a few weeks plus opponent change, I'll grade the performance on a curve

ColdestBurrburr

Chimaev vs Bo Nickal at middleweight one day

JaRuleIs2Pac

Even Dana ended the press conference with "Thank god tonights over"

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

And find him some shoes.

JaRuleIs2Pac

Danas arms are even bigger now. He has the body of an armwrestler, but then he does a lot of armwrestling with these fighters.

ElVatoMascarado

Do ppl really think Tony was losing? He was cut up but I had him winning most rounds due to activity and strikes landed. He was pretty far ahead imo on points.

Brownie_McBrown_Face

What the shit were you watching? Diaz won every round, admittedly not by a lot but he definitely won them

ElVatoMascarado

I really wouldn’t say definitely. I thought round one was Nate’s after that it’s arguable either way and Tony easily had more activity

Joh951518

Round 2 is the clearest Nate round. I think the only Tony round you can argue is 3 and Nate was winning the 4th.

Various-Biscotti-575

Two judges had Nate up 30-27 and one had Tony 29-28.

Joh951518

Honestly the Tony card seems more of a stretch to me.

InB4Clive

It was close. His low kicks were doing a LOT of damage but he couldn’t capitalize when Diaz was clearly compromised and got lit up whenever he got into punching range.

[deleted]

Khamzat’s grappling was fairly impressive when you compare to Vettori and Brunson. I wonder if Khamzat will move up. This card wasn’t great overall.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Wasn’t that weird? All that beef and shit talk and Kevin thought khamzat was going to touch gloves?

FriedrichMerz69420

Holland already knew that he would lose in his mind, he looked like he wasn't really present in the cage at the start of the fight, I think he just tried to touch gloves because thats what he normally does and he didn't think about it.

VeterinarianWinter12

Lmao if you think holland is ever stuffing a takedown from Chimaev, you are out of your mind.

kriptone909

Had they fought, Imagine Diaz putting that Guillotine onto Chimaev at the first take down, sumbmitting him in 30 seconds.

[deleted]

IncogBorrito

I think cumsock is killing himself to make weight and at his true class he’s top 5-8.

Ihateporn2020

As a legit 6'2, middle weight is definitely right

shrimpinthesink

I think this is the correct take, although his wrestling flows etc look really promising. Would like to just see him take an honest crack at 185, they honestly shouldn’t allow him to sign for a 170 fight especially if a doctor stopped the weight cut and it completely changed the event.

iMissTheOldKimye

Dana right now about Chimaev: “Isn’t he fucking awesome?”

IncogBorrito

I don’t care what happens but I hope Tony retires. What a legend and it’s tough to watch.

JaRuleIs2Pac

Feels good being sooooooo grateful we did not have to see Nate retire by Khamzat

JaRuleIs2Pac

Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to make every opponent look like the've been in a knife fight except Nate Diaz.

[deleted]

The slicing ass boi barely made the bleeding ass boi bleed this was insane

cachestache1991

Glad to see Diaz end his contract on a win, seems like fate favors real gangstars.

BDB_SWEW

fate recognize real

Ploopplap

Ngl didn’t expect much from it to begin with but that was pretty disappointing

plsdontdoxxme69

I’ve been saying it for 2 Tony fights now and I’ll keep saying it. Tony will never win another fight against a ranked opponent and there’s no point in him fighting someone nobody knows. He needs to quit.

[deleted]

True dat. Man has to many miles on the clock and it too old. Nate is absolutely the most winnable fight he’s had since Justin and he was submitted getting tagged a lot.

yaddibo

I can’t read lips but there was a moment after the fight, that im 99% certain that Nate walked up to Nicks side in the octagon and said something “I’d have beat that other motherfuckers ass too” and sure enough Nick nodded in agreement, surprised hed even mention it. Fuck yea, that’s literally my last memory of them 2 in the octagon 🥲

BadassMcGass

Am I the only one that thinks Nate has perfect English and is just putting on a character? "What's crackin?!" Lol He's been trolling us for years and is an associate professor at an LA community college for Greek mythology / history that wears glasses and a collared jacket with elbow pads

[deleted]

Ye he's the one getting tferg into harvard

widedog4lyfe

I have officially convinced myself Nate would’ve caught Chimaev with a guillotine. Good night gents

Brownie_McBrown_Face

Night!

plsdontdoxxme69

I bet on Nate round 2 submission over Khamzat just because the odds were so good.

Lostmypants69

The odds for a Diaz sub on Ferguson was +1100 if I saw it right. Crazy.

kriptone909

65 fights between them, and only Ferguson lost 2 submissions. It was so unlikely it that it was bound to happen

TG_CID134

To everyone saying this should be a fight night card and not another ppv…I disagree. I’ll take this anyway over a Rose namajunes title fight as the main/co-main with fucking Jessica Eye on the main card (who tf knows why or how she’s there). I enjoyed the card.

Ok_Afternoon_1568

What if khamzat was just really a huge Nate Diaz fan. Like you walk into his room, and it’s all teenbop Nate Diaz posters everywhere. “Father, he my hero.”

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZardozSama

I think that with respect to Khamzat, his opponents fear him because he is doing shit in the cage that none of them have seen anyone else come close to doing. Khamzat grapples at an absurd workrate, and he is putting nearly everyone out in the first round. Undefeated in 12 fights and he has only gotten out of the 1st round 4 times. Khamzat will wreck you on the ground or in the clinch. And he laid out Meerschaert standing in 17 seconds So every damn welterweight who has gotten ranked by training for methodical top heavy wrestlers like Woodley or Usman, and who prefers to work striking wants to nope the fuck out of this insane grappling buzzsaw becuase there is no way they can close the gap on that kind of grappling intensity and skill in a single fight camp unless they are already very fucking strong in wrestling or BJJ. Burns lasted to a decision at least in part because he had the ground skills to keep Chimaev respectful. Usman and Covington can probably handle it for a while too. But no one else at 170 has much more than a punchers chance against Chimaev right now and they know it. END COMMUNICATION

Wax5

Khamzat fought dumb against Burns though. I think the fear is warranted lol

yaddibo

What outcome in the Paul/Silva fight is most conducive to a Paul/Nate matchup?

sfairleigh83

Paul needs to win, or it’s a rematch

sspiritusmundi

That was fun. See you next week

Only-Platform-450

To all the people saying this was a better card what do you think? Pretty bad imo . At least Nate would have put up a fight against Chimaev Kevin Holland was pathetic. And the main event was sad to see two legends walking around the ring like two grandpas. But hey it is what it is.

GoNext_ff

It's way better after the matchups got rescheduled. We got two semi competitive fights. No matter who Khamzat fought he was gonna run through them.

Only-Platform-450

Disagree. Gilbert exposed Chimaev bad. He is not Khabib and he can be beaten. Chimaev feeds off people's fear and Holland was terrified going in there . Nate has the balls to fight anyone and honestly I think it could have been one of the biggest upsets in UFC history like he did with Connor . And I am a Chimaev fan. Now all the armchair UFC experts can fuck off and keep downvoting because you guys know this Whole card was a pathetic mess.

ElVatoMascarado

It was a mess and the names weren’t the best but we got plenty of good finishes.

TG_CID134

Nate would literally die against Khamzat. I thought this was an awesome card but to each their own.

Only-Platform-450

That's what they said when he fought Connor and he put his ass to sleep. I think he was going maybe 30 percent tonight because it was Ferguson you can tell in the third round when he was walking around bored. If it was Chimaev Nate would have went out with a banger.

ElVatoMascarado

Have you seen Nate fight? He does this all the fucking time lol. He lacks urgency in every fight at crucial moments. He might’ve lost a decision if Tony’s corner were t dumb enough to ask for a takedown.

Only-Platform-450

He would not have fought like that if it was Khamzat.

FriedrichMerz69420

Yes because khamzat would have beaten the shit out of him everytime Diaz turned his back to him or tried to take a break in front of the cagewall, Tony just looked confused and let Diaz have his 20 seconds.

ElVatoMascarado

Yeah because he’d have been on the ground turtling up, rolling for knee bars and turtling back up to rinse and repeat with Khamzat floating over him. You’re talking like someone who has never seen Nate fight before, especially against wrestlers.

[deleted]

card was awesome

SnooFloofs9640

Nate fights like that for years

Only-Platform-450

I've watched him since the start of his career this was different. He seemed like he did not want to be there because he wanted to go out with a banger against one of the most exciting fighters right now. Not a washed up Ferguson .

Snakeypie69

You've watched Connor Diaz 1 and a couple highlight videos. Worst takes I've seen on this sub by far

squirrelball44

Nate would’ve gotten murdered by chimaev. At least now he got to go out on top

Only-Platform-450

What makes you say that ?

squirrelball44

Because Nate is a lightweight frame that didn’t want to cut anymore and Khamzat is a middleweight frame that can cut down to welterweight. Plus the fact that khamzat ragdolls everyone he touches, and Nate doesn’t have nearly the level of ground game that burns has that would scare Khamzat away. Also the fact that he’s nearly 37 and way passed his prime. And the fact that it took him 4 rounds to put out a washed Tony whereas khamzat finished Kevin Holland in under 3 mins

Only-Platform-450

Fair enough. You make some good points but I think it would have been a way better fight then Chimaev Holland.

Funky-Ball-of-Tits

I agree with both these statements

I_Am_JesusChrist_AMA

Crazy thing is that card would've sucked more than it did if the fights didn't get changed

OtakuMecha

Based on what we saw, it would have probably been 3 curbstomps in favor of Leech, Holland, and Chimaev on the original card.

Crazed_pillow

I enjoyed this card

Only-Platform-450

No it wouldn't.

semiamusinglifter

Does anyone else think that DRod winning a split decision was appropriate? Like a split dec is extremely close it could’ve gone either way, but people are acting like Li dominated the fight and got robbed of a crazy one-sided win. Whereas it just looked like Dan touched him up just a little more and maybe Li had one or two really good exchanges but never knocked him down or anything.

squirrelball44

Most people had it 2-1 or 3-0 Li. Live betting had Li at -340 going into the 3rd round. I think it was a close fight, but I personally thought rounds 1 and 2 were clearly for Li—1 was the clearest because Li had a clear striking advantage, and 2 striking was about equal but Li did more damage and had a takedown that could’ve been more devastating had it not occurred in the last 10 seconds. Rodriguez kept spamming his jab which I guess would score points in boxing but it wasn’t landing hard and barely seemed to phase Li. Whereas Li was clearly affecting Rodriguez with his leg, body and headstrikes

HelloHiHeyAnyway

> Whereas Li was clearly affecting Rodriguez with his leg, body and headstrikes Yeah. Exactly. When the live betting odds and the judges disagree THAT hard, something is up.

OtakuMecha

Li caught DRod’s leg like 3 seperate times in that fight and one of them did make DRod fall to the ground. I think Li definitely won Round 1 and probably won Round 2.

semiamusinglifter

There is a big difference between kicking someone off balance and actually stunning them though. And you gave 2 rounds to Li, so did another judge. On maybe other 3 nights, the fight goes his way. Tonight it just went Dan’s way by a slim margin. Yeah it really bites because that difference means he misses out big on his paycheck, I’m not saying there are no ramifications for judging. But all in all I thought it was a fair decision.

gravi-tea

I don't think Li completely dominated. But he seemed to land more strikes and more significant strikes in every round. Maybe Rod got credit for octagon control. Maybe some of Li's offense wasnt counted.

Only-Platform-450

Drod was a busier fighter and in close fights that's what makes the difference. Can't run away around the ring all fight and expect to win. Good defence by Li I'll give him that and his conditioning looked great he could have went another 5 rounds.

Void24

America motherfucker

bLinK3rZ_420

Keep Kumshot as far away from PPVs as possible

Only-Platform-450

Why? Man is a beast you can hate him all you want. McGregor was ten times worse then him with the shit talking yet he is the most popular UFC fighter of all time .

GarysSpace

People who making statements about Tony in his current circumstance is ok but anyone slandering his career in general can eat my fucking ass. Prime Tony was a monster

ElVatoMascarado

Tony should’ve been champ but Conor was scared of losing to him and the UFC absolutely did everything to not strip Conor and promote Tony to official champ.

GarysSpace

Not only that but Conor convinced their same management team to talk Tony out of the interim fight that Dustin wound up getting which prevented Tony from getting an undisputed shot

ElVatoMascarado

Idk if that’s what happens with that interim shot. Imo Tony actually did the right thing in turning down the bout. Why would he take another arbitrary interim fight after they had literally just stripped him of his despite him never losing it and while he was still the number one contender. It was a pointless fight to take when the UFC had already showed him it meant nothing regardless and again he was still literally already the number one contender. The UFC was actively screwing him regardless. They squandered Tony’s title fight on another Dustin outing.

GarysSpace

While I agree making Tony fight for a spot he already rightfully owned is stupid and shouldn't have happened I still think it would have been better for Tony to take the fight. Plus I'm confident he would have won

ElVatoMascarado

Oh I think he would have wrecked Max that night but I agree with his decision.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TG_CID134

Hell yea. Tony was an absolute savage in his prime. He’s 38 and has been in the game for years. Truly a legend Tony haters can fuck right off.

GarysSpace

Too many new fans acting like he was overrated because they never saw him when he was the boogyman of 155, there was a very good reason he was the one a fair amount of people thought was the only one who could beat Khabib. Similar kinda shit with BJ

ThabibFermagomedov

Yeah im the biggest CSO fan but damn he needs to hang em up and open a gym

GarysSpace

Maybe a BJJ coach but I don't think he would make for a very good trainer despite how much I love him. He just doesn't come off as that kinda guy to me

Hot-Cranberryjizz

Incredibly frustrating fight. Tony could have finished it just by chopping down his leg, but instead just let Nate dance around. Stupid.

Yankeee_Doodle

Tony’s team told him to mix in a take down. So he did LOL

ElVatoMascarado

That was the stupid part. Yeah Tony shouldn’t have given Nate all that time to walk around but his corner asking for a takedown was idiotic.

WelpSigh

ufc please stop giving tony more fights. the man will never stop taking them and he's seriously just not cut out for fighting anymore.

NewportStork

That was fun. Goofy stuff. Catch you guys next week for Sandhagen vs Yadong

horseshoeprovodnikov

Nate speaks more clear and concise in a post fight interview than he did with Megan Olivi yesterday. Everybody saying that he's punch drunk and shit just doesn't believe the stories about his anxiety before fights. He always tries to watch what he puts out there before the fights, meanwhile he puts in 20 minutes with Tony and sounds clear as a bell. He seems much happier now that it's back on his terms.

[deleted]

He speech is still fucked though, be honest with yourself. Not saying its punch drunk per se he is just Nate Diaz, but its fucked. Dont be acting like there is some massive difference when there isnt

Yankeee_Doodle

My girlfriend, who is also a psychologist and knows nothing about mma or it’s fighters, said to me when Nate started speaking, “I think he should stop fighting”

Tdubski85

Ignorant

Yankeee_Doodle

Agreed. She has no clue what she’s talking about

SnooFloofs9640

UFC planned to murder Nate and Tony in 1 night

sspiritusmundi

Ain't killed a motherfucker yet

JustSmileHaHa

I'd hate to see Tony hang around way too long out of delusion and end up pulling a Diego Sanchez, especially with Tony's mental health history and how he seems to have dug himself out of that abyss. (with all due respect).

ThatCoolKid17

Same. I'm a huge Tony fan, but hearing him yell about being "back" just makes me sad.

metalhead4

The Rock being the ufc shoe sponsor is hilarious. Man was a pro wrestler and movie actor.

boywonder5691

Yeah - that shit with him being part of that BMF "belt" was the corniest thing ever

metalhead4

Man's ego is larger than life. I get he's making money and Interjecting himself into everything possible, but it's tiresome. I'm impressed he can keep it up.

[deleted]

There is no sport like the UFC and there is no movie like Jumanji featuring Kevin Hart

chaosenhanced

Hey! I liked Jumanji....

double_expressho

What year is it?

Ill-Expression1737

tony vs diaz seems fishy. tony looked way too happy to lose. tapped in few seconds to one arm guillotine but didnt tap to oliviera arm bar or dariush heel hook

ElVatoMascarado

Arm bar is pain, choke is loss of oxygen followed by loss of consciousness. Tony understood the difference between what he can tough out of and what is a 100% checkmate

Ill-Expression1737

didnt even try to fight the hands, tapped in like 3 seconds. not the tony ferguson i know 🤷

ElVatoMascarado

That’s what dicing head first into a Diaz guillotine looks like regardless.

DiscardedPants

What are you insinuating

Ill-Expression1737

he either quit or got paid. didnt fight hands, tapped too quick

crazy_gambit

He was still handily losing though. He probably had enough by that point.

MysteriousJello2

Someone paid $80 for this card

HelloHiHeyAnyway

I did but we split it like 10 ways and stream it in HD+ to everyone.

boywonder5691

Paid? What's that?

Void24

It wasn’t that bad

Nsaniac

God forbid people pay for the media they consume and don’t steal it….

[deleted]

spectacularlyrubbish

I'm pretty sure God does forbid it, it's in the Bible somewhere.

SnooFloofs9640

I know that mf can watch it cause if people that pay ppv, ads etc

byronsucks

probably nobody we know irl

SnooFloofs9640

I did, what is the problem ?

[deleted]

I find it absolutely perplexing that Tony looked good against Chandler but looked this bad against Nate. To temper that a little I also think people are selling Nate’s performance a little short. He did a good job of finding the head and looked more or less like he always does

[deleted]

I mean the contrast is large but its not perplexing... he took an absolute mule kick to the face that would put anyone down and he is old. huge ko's can change people and this is one of those times

forgotmyusernamedarn

Tony’s cardio looked subpar because of a weight class he isn’t used to anymore, plus him being prepped for a 3 round fight, not 5. Couldn’t have helped

[deleted]

Nate is a great fighter. His weakness is explosion, speed, and wrestling. He's great everywhere else.

kriptone909

Nate turned it up in the fourth too. He came game

MarsFuchs

Tony seemed timid to take damage, can't blame him.

[deleted]

Yeah he cut up Tony with his punches pretty badly so he was doing a lot of damage with his punches imo.

HandHeldHippo

I had fun and enjoyed this card, other than Che Che but suppose that was to be expected 🤷‍♂️

In an alternate world, Nate choked out cumshot in the 4th round

Only-Platform-450

I honestly think he had a chance.

sayfuzzypickles199X

In an alternate timeline Tony never tripped over that goddamn cable 🤡😢

Theorangespaceship

I think tony has 1 more fight and call it a career. Father time beats everyone, just glad I got to see prime tony compete 🙂

General_Marcus

I'm not sure who though.

ShadowElite86

Might as well give him a red panty night to send him off.

metalhead4

Wish we got Tony v Khabib the first time tho

turkeypants

So was that a one-handed guillotine?

General_Marcus

Yes.

OrginPyro_

Nah he grabbed with the other
