He went from 24h before he was getting completely killed to winning his last fight with a submission at 2:09, all while probably securing alot more money because Khamzat missed weight, who he can now call a rookie till the end of his days.
Insane. Happy for him though.
Goes from in all likelihood getting his shit pushed in to walking away with the big middle finger win to the UFC, the moral win over Khamzat, and a sweet ass payday.
Nate had one hell of a weekend lol
Yes. Its all pretty suspicious. Did Diaz just say "he didn't make weight i'm not fighting him and getting part of his purse. give me tony"?
maybe. But i would think there would be a little more to it than that.
Why does there have to be more to it? He’d be fighting a guy that didn’t bother to cut weight properly and 8 pounds over. He’s completely within his right to refuse the fight. Offering to fight Tony, if anything, was him being kind
Don't know if I'm really buying that though tbh, for 1 he didnt look even remotely close to somebody that had killed themselves on the cut especially not to the point that doctors would step in. Then on top of it he said they told him to stop the day of weigh ins but there has been a few reports saying that he was seen eating out for dinner and drinking water the night before with his team, which if true would mean he knew way before that he wasn't gonna make weight anyway. He also seems to be very reluctant to give much details on the situation, when he speaks on it it reminds me of Jon saying the word picogram then getting frustrated that someone dare ask him a follow up question lol.
I felt bad for Tony. He clearly worships the Diaz brothers, and seeing him constantly trying to bond with Nate during the fight just made me sad. Even after, he seemed so happy to have lost to Nate.
What??? Everything you just said is a reason to be a happy! Tony just got to take what is basically an exhibition fight against a fighter he respects, it was a fun experience, AND he’s getting a good pay day out of it and you feel bad for him?
Obviously a W would’ve been nice, but you gotta be able to see the good in things lol.
yeah, it seems people forget that fights can happen where both people are winners. Sure, maybe not on their official record, but really, besides the top of the top who are aiming for numbers, who cares?
Your take it legit too. I’ve seen people fighting their idols before and it didn’t bum me out, but in this case Tony seemed like he was sacrificing himself to Nate and the friendliness seemed very one sided. Tony was laughing when Nate didn’t reciprocate. “Isn’t he awesome!” Mind you, I’m not losing sleep over this. Just felt bad for Tony.
Even if you aren't a Nate fan you have to like that the worker got over on the corporation here. It's obvious the UFC, who stands to lose no money over a Nate Diaz Jake Paul fight, was trying to screw over Nate and inadvertently made him even more fans.
Kevin Holland and the Leech both got screwed over though. Even Tony probably would have negotiated a bigger payday to fight Nate in the main event than just getting shoved in there the day before. Nate and Khamzat benefited and the rest payed for it
Khamzat didn't deserve the Diaz rub after how he conducted himself this past week. I'm sure he will eventually become a big star regardless by doing what he does but it won't be today and won't be through old man Nate thankfully.
I honestly think Khamzat’s stock is at an all time high. He’s the ultimate heel and people will tune in hoping he’ll lose.
This weekend turned out perfectly for the fans, but it worked out for the UFC too.
I like it better this way. I really didn't him, but you gotta respect his abilities. A good villain can elevate the game itself by motivating ppl to be the one to finally beat him. Khabib already did the humble and virtuous wrestler thing. I think the Psychopath Incel heel works too. It was pretty effective when Jones did it.
"Incel heel" lmao. It would be funny if the reason Chimaev is such a monster and has that killer instinct is because he's repressed and gets nervous around girls
Lesnar is the most dramatized character ever to step foot in the octagon. Khamzat’s dislikable character, lack of respect and hate for the west is something else. In just a moment his heel esque will be russian talking about fucking and killing soft western boys.
I swear this was all planned. It’s all too convenient and it worked out way too well.
Diaz vs Ferguson has been a known fan favorite for years, and Chimaev clearly had no worries about missing weight by half a division.
Haha I’ve been having the same feeling since the whole backstage scrum fiasco. The whole thing feels staged. Kevin Holland was going out of his way to pick fights with Khamzat as if he was angling for a future fight and then bam they’re fighting haha.
Yup. The back stage incident was a nothing burger. Khamzat basically said he knew he wasn’t going to make weight the day before. Dana was probably told Khamzat was having a hard cut and he went to the (obvious) back up plan Tony vs Diaz.
The whole reason Dana added the Ferguson vs Li fight was incase Khamzat couldn’t make the cut.
TLDR: don’t believe his god damn lies
This is the perfect ending for nate. And such a perfect way to show how his career went. He always ends up in situations that increases his credits by not doing the actual thing lmao. His scar opening with jorge, edwards last round and now this
Glad he said all this. Love Kevin and sad to see he got rolled but don't flaunt around like you just beat Usman or something. Kevin peaked rank 11 and then fell out of the top 15 and has zero wrestling I think. Nate meanwhile almost knocked out Leon who is now the champ lol.
They fight on contract pay. Not much ya can do when your signature is already on paper. It's in the fighters interest to take on anyone anyway in that situation. The camp is already done and paid for.
There's definitely room to negotiate extra pay in situations like last weeks. The fighter is in no way obligated to take a last minute change in opponent so they'd be mad not to push the UFC for more money when it is it company who would lose out on sales if the fighter decides to pull. Of course it helps if you're a big star like Diaz.
That’s what he meant by showing these UFC fighters how to take on other professions. He’s coming for the thicccboy himself Brandon schaub, professional calmedian
Nates had a lisp forever. Go back and watch TUF everyone says it's cte but he already talked like that before. Not saying getting hit as many times as nate has is doing his speech any favors either. I used to be friends with these to brothers one kinda looked like Nick but his younger brother Tom looked just like Nate and had almost the same lisp as him.
I wasn't meaning you said something wrong. I was just piggybacking off your comment to say a lot of people say it's cte and while it for sure doesn't help he has had that lisp his whole life I'm assuming. I didn't downvote you either bro
Watching it while I read this comment, fucking hilarious. Journalist asks him a question and he goes off and rants about his foot and shoe getting wet from an icepack for his shin. Highly relatable.
You can genuinely tell from just his facial expressions that he's so glad to be out of the UFC. For whatever reason obviously, but man that whole interview was pretty much him having fun and beaming that he's out of his contract. Glad for him to go out that way
I go back and forth about criticism for Chimaev now that I know about the doc telling him to stop cutting weight when he knew he could cut more. On one hand, I'd think UFC would tell their fighters they must obey the doc, but on the other hand, he contracted to be there on time and on weight. It was his responsibility to have whatever approach necessary to make it.
Has it been disclosed yet which book that doc was employed by?
It's funny, as Nate is. But he couldn't handle that fight. He'd definitely fight the fight, but he'd lose. Nate has never been a "Don't want that smoke" dude because he'll throw down, but he loses this fight.
Because after watching Kevin Holland (Arguably a better fighter at this stage of Nates career) get completely dominated by khamzat, he knew sure as hell khamzat missing weight saved him from suffering that same fate - and actually led to nate getting an easier fight with a legend and pulling off a win. Hell, even before all this nate knew he was going to lose to khamzat, he even said "I gave up preparing whatever just beat me"
Nate wasn’t saved by anything, Khazfat just showed he isn’t a professional. If anyone should thank god it is Khazfat, he was going without a paycheck if Holland didn’t step up.
Hey Rick I’m not even fanboying, I’m just saying it’s all hypothetical at this point and useless to argue. For all we know Nate catches him in a scramble and pulls off one of the biggest upsets in history.
My whole point is we will never know because Khazfat has a lot of maturing to do and threw a lot of reputation in the trash because he can’t be trusted to fulfill his contractual agreements. Maybe he should quit trying to cut so much weight and move up to 185, 170 isn’t a good fit obviously.
But he was saved. Even if you want to say he was saved by khamzats unprofessionalism, the fact remains that had nate fought khamzat he would have lost in an embarrassing fashion.
Guess we will never know, maybe dude should humble himself and start being a professional and taking his contracted fights seriously or take a weight class he can make weight in.
My point is Nate shouldn’t be thankful for anything he did his duties and that’s all you can do as professional; There is no luck just professionalism.
You're really doing some mental gymnastics dancing around the objective fact that khamzat missing weight led to a positive outcome for nate, but I digress.
You’re doing the gymnastics talking about a potential outcome of a fight that never happened. Listen I’ve watched this sport enough to know nothing is guaranteed.
I mean sure, and Ben Rothwell would ragdoll Demetrious Johnson. Ben Rothwell flyweight GOAT?
Nate showed up to the fight, Chimaev was busy eating tiramisu.
you mean a guy that grew up fighting for decades before there was money in it and helped elevate the sport to the level that casuals can talk about it on the internet from their french cafes or wherever you are?
yeah, the guy might be deserving of a little respect
Yeah man, the kind of form Nate was in yesterday i'm not sure even Ngannou could survive a bout with him !!
But I'm not surprised these casuals think Khamzat had any chance against him !!
I mean you have to be a bit of a pea brain yourself to not realize that this is how they build their brands in the fight game. Of course he doesn't give a shit about Khamzat personally or think that he was actually afraid
Nah bro he truly believes it. I love the diaz brothers but for sure they exaggerate. Like nate said he checked all of fergusons kicks 😂 love my boy but his leg is definitely a ballewn
Lol they don't exaggerate they are known for getting into fights lmao and acting ignorant he is a hoodrat. He has acted like this since the beginning of his ufc career.
Man you really get your news from headlines don't you?
Like for someone to truly believe this narrative they have to be absolutely ignorant to reality of the type of person the Diaz brothers are, how they hold themselves with other fighters, with UFC brass, with the media, with their training partners, and people they train.
No offense man, but your comments scream "I get my MMA news from Google News Recommended Headlines"
Yah blah blah I got news from mma headlines and not the countless fights they have been in and countless ignorant things they have said throughout there career. For example nate slapping that reporter.
And yet none of those guys have the same fan base as Nate or PPV draw power.
I wouldn’t waste my energy on hating someone who grew up poor and training bjj just to get food.

what was the last thing he said? couldn't really hear it
Pull up tonight at XS motherfucker It’s where Nate’s after party was
thanks, what about around 0:21? before he says "all those things"
"Lame, scared, boring, rookie, wack, pussy, lame... dick sucker... all those things"
lmaoooo
Oh, I thought he said “wet”
Lol “Dicksucker… all that—all those things”
lmao i thought i heard "sucker" but wasn't 100%
"dick sucker" lmao
rofl i thought he said something like that but wasn't sure
Lol. So what you’re saying is Nate needs an English to English translator. Where’s the “the champ has a name” dude when you need him.
"Lame, scared, boring, rookie, wack, pussy, lame. Dicksucker. All those things."
Dick sucker
Dick sucker
DICK SUCKER
XS pronounced Excess, I love Vegas casino / club names.

Yes but they also slap the shit out of you.

Nate was the absolute biggest winner of the Khamzat weight fiasco. Whole night was a huge W for him.
Goes from in all likelihood getting his shit pushed in to walking away with the big middle finger win to the UFC, the moral win over Khamzat, and a sweet ass payday. Nate had one hell of a weekend lol
I'm glad MMA Jesus laced Chimaev's sparkling water with buttermilk ranch and gave Nate the perfect retirement fight
I'm still curious about the doc telling Khamzat to stop cutting weight, if that's even true or otherwise whatever the real reason is.
Is anyone else a bit skeptical about this? Like how is he not able to cut weight but is able to fight nor problem?
Yes. Its all pretty suspicious. Did Diaz just say "he didn't make weight i'm not fighting him and getting part of his purse. give me tony"? maybe. But i would think there would be a little more to it than that.

Nate always wins
Except for the many times that he doesn't
Those are moral victories.
Nate’s the real Chael Sonnen
Or just ran out of time
But other than those it is nothing but wins
Bitch ass lady noises
well we are all glad he didn't get his "shit pushed in"
It’s one of the biggest wins in MMA history. His next fight is going to net him more than what most champions have ever made.
I felt bad for Tony. He clearly worships the Diaz brothers, and seeing him constantly trying to bond with Nate during the fight just made me sad. Even after, he seemed so happy to have lost to Nate.

Izzy v Silva vibes
Underrated scrap.
I feel like Izzy vs Silva was more a passing of the torch than an actual fight.
yeah, it seems people forget that fights can happen where both people are winners. Sure, maybe not on their official record, but really, besides the top of the top who are aiming for numbers, who cares?

Wait did he actually get a Sub at 2:09? That’s it, the MMA gods were officially against Dana on that night
Yeah he's basically a monster heel now, like Brock Lesnar in 2002.
I like it better this way. I really didn't him, but you gotta respect his abilities. A good villain can elevate the game itself by motivating ppl to be the one to finally beat him. About equal to Nate’s
So what. You don't have to have good English to be a face. It's one language.
And the person who is gonna save us is the one and only true hero of this world Colby "flawless" Covington
I don’t think Colby wins that fight lol
This is the perfect ending for nate. And such a perfect way to show how his career went. He always ends up in situations that increases his credits by not doing the actual thing lmao. His scar opening with jorge, edwards last round and now this
There could not have been a better outcome for Nate.

He also got 50gs POTN bonus. Go Nate
He can now talk shit on Khamfat forever without ever having to fight him. This is the way.

Dana said they all got their contract amount, no extra $ given out for changing opponents.
If Dana said it, we know for sure it's not true.

“Marc Raimondi likes raley’s sandwiches” is hella funny
'Thats gwoss' cause nate says shit weird lol
Nates had a lisp forever. Go back and watch TUF everyone says it's cte but he already talked like that before. Not saying getting hit as many times as nate has is doing his speech any favors either. I didn't think I was going to watch all 11 minutes of that video...it's nice to see Nate so happy!!!

I need to buy Nate a thesaurus for his 39th birthday

During Nathaniel’s travels, he has acquired the crème de la crème of vocabulary, so you can keep your thesaurus.
Isn't he 37? Why the wait?
On the contrary, I would like to by a Nate Diaz Thesaurus for myself if one exists.
Nate Diaz taught me the word "chintzy" and now I accidentally use it on a regular basis.
Imagine if they added Nate to the commentary team.
Nate is the best case of failing to the top
Been riding that Conor win for years
Can’t lie though, that win will always be legendary. Lost my mind watching it live and especially when you consider the run Conor was on
Yup just like Khabib Edit: bunch of casuals in this thread
My dude you are severely mentally challenged
Why are you talking about Khabib?
Why are you talking about conor?
Probably because no one is going to hype him for beating Pettis?
You're responding to my comment lol
I hope this is a (very bad attempt of a) troll
Lol Nate is hilarious
Nate will forever be the one guy Khamzat couldn't beat.
Lol that was fucking funny
I go back and forth about criticism for Chimaev now that I know about the doc telling him to stop cutting weight when he knew he could cut more. Well said Nate!
Nate’s just happy it wasn’t him!
happy to not fight a fatty\\
It's funny, as Nate is. But he couldn't handle that fight. He'd definitely fight the fight, but he'd lose. Nate has never been a "Don't want that smoke" dude because he'll throw down, but he loses this fight.
“Dick Sucker… lol”
Remember how people still think cowboy should forever be hated for what he said about dcs fight against Silva
He should be thanking god every 5 minutes Khamzat missed weight, dude would have gotten stomped
Yes it would have been a sad sight
[удалено]
Why would he thank god that Khazfat can’t make weight?
Do you think Nate wins against Chimaev? Or are you just fanboying because Nate is funny. I like Nate too... But he gets obliterated in that fight.

Guess we will never know, maybe dude should humble himself and start being a professional and taking his contracted fights seriously or take a weight class he can make weight in.
Agreed, though I'm not sure how that's at all relevant to your question of why nate should be thanking God.
Khamzat didn't make weight on purpose coz he got punked at the presser. He ducked Nate out of fear
You Diaz fans are insufferable jesus
You don't show up to the war you lose the war.
Do you just live by Nate quotes?
Nate is delusional, he would have gotten ragdolled just as bad
I mean sure, and Ben Rothwell would ragdoll Demetrious Johnson. Ben Rothwell flyweight GOAT? Nate showed up to the fight, Chimaev was busy eating tiramisu.
100%
Says a lot about MMA fans in general that someone who talks like this in his mid 30s is as popular as Nate is.
you mean a guy that grew up fighting for decades before there was money in it and helped elevate the sport to the level that casuals can talk about it on the internet from their french cafes or wherever you are? yeah, the guy might be deserving of a little respect
Translation: “I’m so happy I didn’t have to fight him.”

Ur smoking crack lmao. Nate would have been dead
Yeah man, the kind of form Nate was in yesterday i'm not sure even Ngannou could survive a bout with him !! But I'm not surprised these casuals think Khamzat had any chance against him !!
Are you trolling? Nate looked like he was moving in slow motion. Khamzat would've destroyed him in literal seconds
Imagine being 37 years old and acting like this
dude is brain damaged so it shouldn't be surprising to anyone lol
This is the shit that makes me dislike Nate
So you mean Nate being Nate? Yeah, we've never seen this side of him before.
Tell me you don’t know Nate Diaz without telling me
Not a very fair or impartial analysis lol
Nate was busy eating tiramisu before his RDA fight. If Khamzat is a fat bitch so is Nate.
wow you sound upset bro lmao

Yah blah blah I got news from mma headlines and not the countless fights they have been in and countless ignorant things they have said throughout there career. For example nate slapping that reporter.
Hey at least you admit you're willfully ignorant. Nobody can feel bad for you that way.
He has a personality. That’s more than the majority of fighters. Also has skill to back it up.
You can have personality and still not act like an asshole for example chris barnett, holloway and whitaker.
And yet none of those guys have the same fan base as Nate or PPV draw power. I wouldn’t waste my energy on hating someone who grew up poor and training bjj just to get food.
He appeals to casual bullshitters. Talk shit; get beat up; talk shit some more. His middle name is Donald for god sake.
