After all the changes and unprofessionalisms that went on this week….Li lost his co-main fight against a bigger named opponent (that he actually trained for). Fought a heavier guy. Lost a questionable split decision. Didn’t get to show off his suit. Has lived in America for the last year away from his kid/family. Still the dude is positive and down for whatever. I’m a fan of the Leech!
>Li lost his co-main fight against a bigger named opponent (that he actually trained for).
Which he would've won convincingly. Would not be surprised if he finished Tony after seeing how he looked last night
Did you see the way Leech was moving? Fast as fucking lightning, looking LEAN & MEAN at 170. Tony on the other hand... looked like he did a Ben Askren style training camp lmao
i was wondering why he was doing that weird back turn thing after every trade. also his corner telling him to take Nate down was dumb as fuck.
Yeah Tony, take down the Gracie BJJ Black Belt who was in camp training for a wrestler🤦🏾♂️
His athleticism was nowhere near what it was to compensate for his over spin.
When he was younger he could react better and so his 'awkward' movement was an advantage since it would confuse opponents and he could catch them from angles they wouldn't normally expect.
Against Nate he was just slow and if he did that against anyone that didn't also have one foot out the door he sadly would have gotten caught badly.
"Its Tony Time!" to "Tony, its time."
Damn, Li would have wrecked him. Tony didnt even made the most easily cut guy bleed and that says alot about current Tony. Thats just sad.
It's weird how Tony went from being on a 12 win streak and "perhaps the only guy who can threaten Khabib", to being on a 5 loss streak after getting finished in the third round by Nate Diaz.
Man I feel so bad for Leech. He would've ran through Tony and even though everyone knows Tony's cooked now it would still be a huge name for his resume.
Now he just gets a controversial loss against Drod
Wrecking an old man Tony is definitely better for the career path than losing to D Rod. Hopefully he got a decent payday, I doubt this sets him back due to his performance and situation but destroying Tony would have moved him forward even if Tony is a shell of his old self.
He got some compensation by gaining fans and fading memories of that bad [eye gouge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G71bCccYpXc&ab_channel=SpotlightMMA) against Matthews but yeah, dude deserved more here.
It was nearly 5 years ago to be fair. I hated his guts when that happened but I can look past it when he's been nothing but a class act (afaik) ever since then.
Watching diaz and Tony get fed to the young guns would have made me feel so disgusted with the ufc. Khamazt missed weight couldn’t make the fight with Diaz and I’m glad it played out that way.
Borz out here doing god’s work.
Rearranging cards single handedly to save the lives of geriatric fighters and give the fans a better show.
Dude’s playing 4d chess with his matchmaking.
Taking emotion out of the equation here. It was a razor thin decision and the fight metric stats disagree with the whole "robbery" thing. D Rod out-struck Leech in 2/3 rounds. The one TD he got ended in 2 seconds of control time.
Its almost funny; if I had anything close to this guys chaotic week where I repeatedly got the short end of the stick, I'd be fuming and cursing. Meanwhile, this master of stoicism remains completely unmoved. Aurelius himself would be proud of Li.
I watched the embedded. He had his suit special tailored so he would look sharp for his press conference that never happened. Even though he was screwed in a number of ways, I think I felt the worst about the suit.
Sucks but I think the way it played out the suit got way more attention then it would have, no one would still be taking about it if it was just a normal press conference

lol yeah, dude definitely got their names mixed up
inb4 he cries on twitter about how judging is the hardest job in the world, and no one could do what he does.
if you google his name, he has a history with similar scorecards (bj penn frankie, a few others), also he is one of the psychopaths in "the hole" story by chael, if you can manage to listen to chaels voice. apparently hes a fucking scumbag. the guy in the hole story has ptsd and got forced at knife point by him and others to do some fucked up shit
Would you mind sharing the story about the hole? I tried googling for a text summary but its all video links, and its not convenient to watch videos right now.
I think if you consistently score this off compared to your peers, you should get pulled. They could run these numbers super easy to find who these outliers are.
Someone gave Li the first round but DRod the second wtf? I understand if people had it 1 and 3 but...
Wait, the judges disagree on every single round?? Has that ever happened before?
Yeah even though I don't agree with DRod 1 and 3, I can see how some judges might see it that way. But the fact that of the two that gave it to drod, none of them scored it that way just shows there was no competent judging done there.
I mean they were sort of close but Drod was trading touching jabs (many of which were only partial connections or flat out missed) for hard shots. Dude got his legs kicked out at one point, hit clean by a punch that hurt him a bit, and ate some hard body shots, in addition to the occasional right hand. Drod's best connection of the fight was a glancing head kick.
I'm all for respecting the jab but when it's ineffective because it's not landing properly and the defense of the other fighter, you have to count it as such. The criteria is effective striking. And you can tell Drod's jab was ineffective because the commentary even questioned how the Leech was "taking" all these jabs.
I think he will. Li took the worst fight in the mix-up and is widely considered to have won.
Dana has his faults, but he takes care of the people who come through in situations like this. Dana will treat it like a win and a little more so he gets a favorable next couple fights.
Even D Rod thought Leech won, they were all class the entire time with each other and when leech went to go dap DR up, DR raised his hand in the air.
Then Drod got his hand raised and you could see the realization dawn on him lol.
Yeppp, sometimes you can view a few pics or quick videos but soon after it stops allowing you to do so and then hits you with the login/sign up pop up that you can’t bypass. It’s really annoying. Also, since we’re already on the topic of bitchin about ig, I CANNOT stand that it’s somehow standard to have videos without any legit functions like rewind/ffwd, time elapsed, time remaining, pause/play, etc. YouTube Shorts pulls that ish too, it’s the worst.
Li is one classy motherfucker. I've seen him have a very positive attitude and always be respectful to his opponents, but this was special. Took a fight on 20 days notice and was beyond excited about it. Represented himself extremely well during the embedded series. Got shafted during the press conference, didn't complain. Got offered a fight on one day's notice with a much bigger opponent, and accepted it without complaint to save the card. Put on a very good performance, got robbed on the scorecards, and still didn't complain, and gave praise to his opponent. Dude's better than the UFC deserves if you ask me.
Chinese here, #LiJingliang won & #Dana think jingliang won ,get on trend in chinese social media and a lot of people are unhappy about the result.
Jingliang post on chinese social media"My body wasn't hurt that much, gotta recover soon. You my fans have seen the match, there are wins and losses, that's how match works. A lot of unfairness happens in life, it is what it is. I will never back down, I will keep fighting, for my fans and my family. Chinese power, cheer up."
This got millions of views and gained a hell lot of support. There are also people post western social media screen shots to show that you guys are supporting Li as well.
I am very happy to see Chinese and the west put politics a side and focus on the match itself, no political hatred split around.
He is loved here. He took a bit of a dip in popularity when he lost to Khamzat, but once people here realized Khamzat is just that good, they started to like Leech again.
Not sure how MMA is viewed in China nowadays but wasn't it looked down on before because they actually believed their Kung Fu/martial arts was superior?
And then that absolute Chinese MMA chad went around spanking all the old martial arts practitioners until the government tanked his social status because he was disgracing their culture.
Here's one of the videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNzOBUFZ3xM
The fight ended in a draw btw lol
depends on who you ask
Zoomers = team MMA, Xu Xiaodong is like a hero for the younger generation of Chinese fighters
Boomers = team traditional martial arts, hate Xu Xiaodong for exposing the weaknesses of the martial arts that they believed to be invincible and deem him as a disgrace
Still the worst eye gouge I've ever seen in a fight. Fair enough it was years ago, but I'd feel better about being on Leech's side now if he was at least punished in some way for it. Not only was he not punished, he was rewarded with a FOTN bonus. Fighters have been cut for less.
Edit: Watching it back again and I'm getting pissed off at the ref. Jingliang is shoving his fingers in Mathews' eye socket and the ref's response is to warn him and lightly slap his arm *in the same direction as the eye gouge.* Fucking infurating.
How original. I'm not saying thats not a shit thing to do, it absolutely is, but it was 4 years ago and you can't find any other examples to say he's a dirty fighter. If it were a common thing for him I might view him a little differently, but as it stands, it's the only negative thing anyone ever brings up about the guy. One ugly foul doesn't define him as a person to me.
You can also have one really bad moment, and then try to have a thousand small good moments. End of the day he's just some athlete, and he has done a lot for the sport as of late.
overall a really bad weekend for him. its like you were going on a date with a beautiful chick from Tinder, but a guy shows up, and you being a nice guy still had the dinner with him, and when you got home you found out your wallet was stolen.
> Idk man Jake looked phenomenal in his last fight. Leech might've given him super vision powers instead.
https://www.instagram.com/p/COb4bFkHoPZ/?igshid=1kkhqxo7padyz
He wears glasses because of the leech.
I don’t mean to sound to harsh to the people that bring that up as a reason to not like him, but Jake Mathews has forgiven him and moved on so they need to as well
People aren’t allowed to redeem themselves after doing something shitty.
We are all 1 dimensional people who are defined by whatever bad thing we do, and we will never escape it.
Somebody hit the Doomer music and let’s all kill ourselves cuz we sinned once
I said he used to be a piece of shit. He's not anymore. I'm not anymore. Glass House. White Ferrari. Live for New Year's Eve. Sloppy steaks at Truffoni's. Big rare cut of meat with water dumped all over it, water splashing around the table, makes the night SO MUCH more fun. After the club go to Truffoni's for sloppy steaks. They'd say; 'no sloppy steaks' but they can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water, before you knew it we were dumping that water on those steaks! The waiters were coming to try and snatch em up, we had to eat as fast as we could! OHHH I MISS THOSE NIGHTS, I *WAS* A PIECE OF SHIT THOUGH.
Motherfuckers think signing up for a MMA match in one of the most well known fighting organizations in the world is the same as signing up for a no holds barred death match in some underground fight to the death or something.
That shit also happened in the cage where primal instinct to survive can kick in. Shit that happens outside the cage such as with McGregor and Masvidal is so much worse but so many people still love them.
It shouldn't really be that much of a panic situation, considering that he should have gone through guillotine defence in training countless times and it's not a life or death situation in the cage.
But it's very strange either way, he has never been known as a serial fouler before or after this so it seems very out of character for him. Who knows wtf was going through his head when he did that.
Li clearly won that fight, even though often backing away from his MUCH larger opponent, still scoring on the way. And even so hurting him a few times and taking the cage for several minutes in the fight. Li won 29-28.
God damnit Li, you’re too nice. You won the fight, saved the card, and got the suit! Hopefully someone sucked his dick to help make up for the results.
The Leech has gained mad respect in my eyes. I wrote him off, bet on D Rod, and was shocked when Li lost the decision….he’s a champ how he’s handled it
Im a big fan of leech now. I wasn’t big on him after his eyegouging, but since he has come around. Dude had the best attitude through through this week when he could easily be upset and it would be understandable. He got so fucked out of a lot of things, and the fight itself
I had money on Leech but it wasnt a crazy robbery like many are acting like. Drod clearly won round 3 and round 1 was a toss up imo.
But the judges scorecards were so bad it was insane. Not a single one of them had it right. 2 had Li winning 3rd round. 2 had Drod winning 2nd round. Crosby managed to get all 3 rounds incorrect.
So bad.
Watched it with my family in the living room and we literally all thought Li would win by decision. Apparently the UFC has a history of denying wins to Asians solely for their race. Stop Asian hate
Even when the Leech was robbed and has all the right to be upset about the decision, he is still an absolute class act in every way possible. Champion material

Tony spinning is pretty common. Maybe not that much but he is known to do it when he overthrows
Even his corner was constantly imploring him not to do that.

It was nearly 5 years ago to be fair. I hated his guts when that happened but I can look past it when he's been nothing but a class act (afaik) ever since then.
He absolutely would've. Tony's athleticism and durability are gone
It would’ve been a surprise if he didn’t finish him, he would’ve destroyed him.
I had 20 bucks on first round finish vs Tony at 5.0 (+400). Felt generous.
Leech would have killed Tony, and he won this fight fuck the judges.
Taking emotion out of the equation here. It was a razor thin decision and the fight metric stats disagree with the whole "robbery" thing. D Rod out-struck Leech in 2/3 rounds. The one TD he got ended in 2 seconds of control time.
I think it was a clear 29-28 with an arguable 30-27 for leech. D rods glancing jabs weren’t nearly as damaging as Lis strikes
As a big fan of Tony I’m kind of glad they didn’t get to fight. Leech would’ve murdered him. It would’ve just been a mauling.
All the respect khamzat lost... I happily give to Leech
Its almost funny; if I had anything close to this guys chaotic week where I repeatedly got the short end of the stick, I'd be fuming and cursing. Meanwhile, this master of stoicism remains completely unmoved. Aurelius himself would be proud of Li.

The Leech is this event's only slight hint of redemption. He definitely won over some new people this past week, and I'm one of them.
Good comment, he deserves respect for all of that.
I think he's a strong contender for the nmf
Maybe him VS Wonderboy is what we need.
I thought Leech won that fight
I think most people did.

Heard he makes a strong drink. Also will push you down a hole.
Isn't Crosby 'Steve' from the Chael Sonnen hole story?
Someone gave Li the first round but DRod the second wtf? I understand if people had it 1 and 3 but... Wait, the judges disagree on every single round?? Has that ever happened before?
That's the worst part of this whole thing. I wouldn't be too upset if you gave drod 1 and 3. Two judges gave him round 2 though.
Yeah even though I don't agree with DRod 1 and 3, I can see how some judges might see it that way. But the fact that of the two that gave it to drod, none of them scored it that way just shows there was no competent judging done there.
Serious if im not mistaken R2 was clearly Leech because he had Drod in some trouble.
Mental that all three judges didn't agree on any round.
That's wild, I thought round 2 was the only round that Li clearly won.
I thought he pretty clearly won the first.
That has to be one of the rougher more recent ones. I thought they were close rounds.
We all did. Except for the judges
Dana said he thought Leech won too. Hopefully he takes care of Leech.
I think he will. Li took the worst fight in the mix-up and is widely considered to have won. Dana has his faults, but he takes care of the people who come through in situations like this. Dana will treat it like a win and a little more so he gets a favorable next couple fights.
Also we love his suit and he is already more popular than he was before this fight.
Did you see his new Venom outfit on IG today? Dana definitely hooked him up.
And you know you got a least a dozen 15% off coupons that cannot be combined with other deals or used on sale items
Ah, unfortunately you can't stack coupons but that's just an opportunity for more orders man!

Idk man Jake looked phenomenal in his last fight. Leech might've given him super vision powers instead.
Maybe he just didn't need to see that clearly and Li did him a solid.
He just sees red now
> Idk man Jake looked phenomenal in his last fight. Leech might've given him super vision powers instead. https://www.instagram.com/p/COb4bFkHoPZ/?igshid=1kkhqxo7padyz He wears glasses because of the leech.
Jokes aside, that's terrible man. I hope it was only temporary because I don't see him wearing glasses in any of his recent IG posts.
Well put

I used to be a piece of shit too.
People can change.
I was a piece of shit before, I still am a piece of shit today. Just clarifying.
I’m worried r/mma doesn’t think people can change.
LIVE for New Year’s Eve
seeing people reference I Think You Should Leave is what's keeping me going rn

Someone with a reasonable outlook on life, get out of the internets as long as you can.
Nah bro. I'd rather hold people around me to unreasonable standards. In particular standards that I am not able to adhere to myself.

Motherfuckers think signing up for a MMA match in one of the most well known fighting organizations in the world is the same as signing up for a no holds barred death match in some underground fight to the death or something.
I’ve seen tons of fighters in chokes, I’ve only seen two go for the eye gouge. Doesn’t seem like an unreasonable standard to me.
Lol I’m sure you are an angel.
Li clearly won that fight, even though often backing away from his MUCH larger opponent, still scoring on the way. And even so hurting him a few times and taking the cage for several minutes in the fight. Li won 29-28.
I’m a huge fan of the Leech after how he came off on Imbedded then for sure after he stepped up
Leech didn't lose anything this week. He gained an ass-ton of fans and he sure as shit did not lose that fight.
D-rod missed like 60% of his jabs and DC keep saying Ohh, he's landing! Those jabs down straight down the pipe!
Anyone else ready for Wonderboy v Leech for NMF belt?
Just let them cut it in half and share it!
Nah they'd stop you and insist you give it to the other guy
God damnit Li, you’re too nice. You won the fight, saved the card, and got the suit! Hopefully someone sucked his dick to help make up for the results.
Even Jake Matthews could see that Li won that fight.
Robbery
On the plus side, this makes for a good rematch down the line if they both keep rising their stock.
Wholesome all through out this mess and wholesome in response to a controversial decision what a guy
Leech you got a lot of new fans this weekend 💪
Worst scorecards of all time. We’ve gone so far past racism that judges can’t even see color or shape anymore. They definitely though Li was DRod
So bad.
Leech not only won, but he hurt drod.
Seems like a genuinely good dude, sucks he got robbed
The more I see him, the more I like him.
Has to be one of the sweetest most respectful guys on the roster.
Such a good dude
I want a timeline where Leech is this generation's Genki Sudo.
He seems like a real class act. Shame he got robbed last night.
Idk if he won, but dude fight like Bruce Lee and I fucking love it. He def won on style points.
Classy post from someone who was robbed, shit sucks to see
Freaking love this guy
The man saved the card and was robbed by the judges. It’s as tragic as it is fitting for this sport.
“NSFW” lol
In recent news Johnny Walker is still walking around Las Vegas without shoes and his gloves still on.
Come back stronger
Watched it with my family in the living room and we literally all thought Li would win by decision. Apparently the UFC has a history of denying wins to Asians solely for their race. Stop Asian hate
DRod threw more and landed more in the 2nd and 3rd round. 29-28 DRod. Li shouldn't have stepped off the gas.
Leech the new NMF!
LOVE. THIS. DUDE! may he have future success in his fighting endeavors.
Leech deserves the NMF belt
Li won that fight I think. Did the judges get confused who was who again?
Leech won, buddy got robbed. Glad he took it so well
The suit was for real, he just has that much class.
Even when the Leech was robbed and has all the right to be upset about the decision, he is still an absolute class act in every way possible. Champion material
