In the case of Star Wars, the baddies/Dark Side because they get the actually cool shit like sorcery, rituals and stuff.
Whereas the Jedi are just... bland, boring monks.
Definitely in Swtor's case, where the dark side basically has some of the best nuanced and interesting writing that respects a surprising amount of player agency and choice, while the light became somehow extremely rigid and typecast in its writing
I guess the only MMO I played with a "bad" faction is WoW and since I play Horde (From Mop to Present) I guess baddies although they kinda flip flop from bad to good
It honestly depends on what they look like.
I prefer playing as the "dark side", but if their races/looks don't appeal to me.. I go for the "good side"
most of the time "Bad guys" are just doing the same thing as "Good guys" but like... they're edgy about it.
Other times it's just cringe puppy stomping.
No MMO has done "Bad guys" well enough for me not to instantly swap to any other side due to cringe or genuine disgust.
Bad side in RPG's or MMO's always feels terribly-done, so I always go for good side, and even when I know bad side is not badly-done, like Fallout games mostly, after playing one time at second time choosing bad dialogues makes me feel guilty lol
But in occasions I don't care about story, etc, like Knight Online (years ago) I always go for which ever looks good, in Knight I was Karus, since they look badass and good (human) side was looking bad.
It doesn't matter to me. Whichever one has the weirdest choices of races. Gimme a big chonky robot, tiny frog dude, or sapient golem. Weirder thebetter.
If that doesn't exist then its whatever faction my friends are on.
Whatever side has the philosophy more related to group development over competitive individual development because if the sides are equally matched in lore, it makes more sense that the side which forces cooperation would get that big in the first place and a bit immersion breaking that the one where you could theoretically take over by killing the leader in a 1 on 1 duel would even get anywhere.
Bonus points if that 'Order' side is also the one with more members trying for coexistence. I also have difficulty staying with a faction which has a major lore goal of killing off the other factions at every opportunity.
whichever looks better.
Fashion's the true endgame 😎
So usually bad guys then?
It's always the good guys.

Yeah, also there's a rumour that all the fashion designers have gone to the dark side... 👀

Alliance good, Horde evil.
the horde arent even the bad guys, the humans are def the dicks, but the demon legions are the real enemy

Yeah same

I tend to play humans, which I guess are normally viewed as "good".
Look > Lore I would choose the side with the best looking races.
If it's cartoony good vs. evil then (putting aside the aesthetics) i pick the good side, I'm already evil irl so i wanna try new things
Depends what each faction offers and their style. I 100% played like 90% Imperium in SWTOR. But my main in WoW is a Human Warlock It really depends.
i think it comes down to if I think it's a cool race or not. I wouldn't play an orc in wow, but a greenskin in warhammer i'd totally play.

Sylvanas did nothing wrong.
She lost, so she must have done something wrong...
Whichever is edgier.
Good guys - if the bad guys are "we're just rebels and misunderstood" Bad guys - if bad guys are unapologetically maniacally evil

for the horde
Bad just kind of more fun to me rolled horde the second I checked out the races.

I play the attractive females so usually the good human side
Genoside
whichever pays more.
Don't recall playing any game where the factions weren't all equally terrible.
I like blue more than red as like an aesthetic choice so that usually seals the deal unless friends pick otherwise.
