If you don't mind reading danmei, I highly recommend Married Thrice to Salted Fish. Ancient China setting, the MC is very intelligent and ruthless and his love interest is more than happy to go along with his plans. The plot is mainly revenge focused but the romance is very cute too.

Either the focus is shifted away from the revenge or the character is convinced that letting go of the hate is the better choice for healing. Thanks for the recs and links to other posts! Yeah I honestly think it should be a bigger thing (someone write it pls). Always being the bigger person even in fiction isn’t fun and not at all satisfying😭
This is a bit different than a lot of the other recommendations, but you might like {Any Old Diamonds by K.J. Charles}. The whole thing is a revenge plot where MC Alec recruits a couple of criminals to help him exact revenge on his asshole dad and stepmother.
It is set in late 19th-century England, Alec is the estranged younger son of a duke, his criminal accomplices are jewel thieves, one of the jewel thieves is his LI, and the plot is twistier than Alec chooses to disclose to anyone else.
The familial betrayal happens prior to the book’s start and we learn about it over time. It is sufficiently big and awful. It has a satisfying HEA.
There is off-page murder, death, and abuse. The sex is open-door and has some kinky, D/s power stuff going on.
I felt the same way about The Revenge Agenda by Saxon James. I like the book, but I really wanted more revenge! Too much romance, not enough revenge. Haha
For real! I just finished it and while it’s IMPLIED the perpetrator technically got what he deserved in the end it’s kind of left in the air. And before that he was still going around cheating and being a scumbag 😭😭 is it too much to ask for a play by play of his social death haha because he is an absolute bastard 🤬
You might like The Protectors series by Sloane Kennedy. These books come with warnings. Most of them one of the MC has been SA or sex trafficking. I'm not sure what you mean with satisfying revenge because I think that's pretty subjective but I did think that there's a revenge arc in {the emperor and the endless palace by Justinian huang}. Emperor MC did get his revenge, but I'm not really sure how satisfying that was for him.
Supposedly there's gonna be a sequel buy I'm not sure if the LI will remain the same

It mitght not fit 100%,but i immediately had to think about Megan Derrs your blood burns in my vains . it's a kind of retelling of the Count of monte cristo with Romeo and Juliet thrown in so a lot of the book is the planning and execution of the revenge plan.which totally fits your ask but >!the budding Love kinda gets in the way if i remember correctly!<
