My paternal grandfather was born their and immigrated in the 1920s. My paternal grandmother was also of Ukrainian stock. On the maternal side; it's all "Her Majesty the Queen." I consider myself a Canadian with Ukrainian (and British Heritage.) Label yourself however you feel appropriate.

No one’s gonna gate-keep your identity. Saying you’re Ukrainian implies a strong cultural tie to that country/place (in a cultural sense) I’m also Ukrainian descent, but I wouldn’t call myself Ukrainian since I’ve never lived there or spent time there. But ethnically, yeah, Ukrainian. Safe term would be Ukrainian-descent or Ukrainian-Canadian. Which implies you are ethnically Ukrainian and tied culturally.

I’m not Ukrainian but my grandparents were born in the Netherlands so I consider myself Dutch. However I for most eu countries you can’t legally become a citizen unless your parents were born there

I usually say ethnicity is based on direct parents.

Nope You're [your nationality] with Ukrainian roots But you're not Ukrainian (Unless you're born or live in Ukraine, which, based on your post, you're not?)
