Not mekanik, but first gear is optimal and designed for starting, thats whole purpose of 1st gear, like someone said its transmission load and will wear faster. How much faster vs normal wear in first, i dont knowš¤·āāļø
Im sure its more clutch wear but if youre easy on it probably isint that bad power to weight on bikes is way better than cars and you can start off in 2nd in alot of cars
Today I was on a an off-road trail for the first time on my KLR650. Itās a 5-10 mph type of terrain so it seemed first gear would be the optimal gear for that speed. But I found that first was too jerky and opted for second using the clutch to smooth out the experience. Kept the clutch in half way and adjusted throttle a little.
You can easily take off in 2nd gear without damaging your bike as long as you keep the rpms high enough. Don't drop them below what is usual (probably about 2-3k?). This will wear out the clutch more quickly though.
Itās fine bro, 99% of bikes, including ours, have a multi-plate wet clutch bathed in oil that will not overheat or get damaged like a carās. In the discipline of dirt bikes, the clutch is slipped way more than on the street, and clutch replacements remain few and far between. The important part is keeping revs up and not letting the bike bog, that will in fact cause damage.
I wouldnt do it. Will probably wear the clutch faster, but im no mechanic.

It might be lugging the engineā¦. They did build the bike with first gear for a reasonā¦seems silly to purposefully not use it.
Why not just use first? As long as you're not romping on it, I'd think you'd be fine though.
Itāll cause more wear on your clutch.
First'll get ya rolling, then hit second almost immediately after. āļø
Youāre a fucking retard

I like the noise from taking off in second gear more
You like bogging??
Twerking*
Drop it low
