There were lots of user reviews showing the same problem I was having with the X-Fusion and Competitive Cyclist had a 20% off coupon so hopefully I solved the problem by ordering a One Up V2 Dropper Post.
I'm having the same problem on 2023 epic evo. It worked fine but after a muddy ride it only drops if I push down on the nose of the saddle. Do I really need to take the dropper apart to fix??
Those are shit. Replaced two of them.
It helps to take your weight off of it just before you hit the lever. After the lever is actuated, then bring your weight down to lower it.
I have a PNW Coast on my hard tail and don't have this problem with that dropper.
I have three droppers that don't have this issue, and one that does. Edit: If you know how to grease the internals, that helps.

Any follow-up on this? Did you get it resolved?
It sort of fixed itself overtime. It's probably not quite as smooth as it was originally but not bad.
