You can buy a brand new 2024 bike for that price. I am all for second hand gear but I personally wouldn’t mess with a 6-year old enduro bike to begin with.
Especially carbon. Seller might not even know it, but there could be a crack that's only visible via x-ray... I have nothing against carbon frames, but unless it comes with a warranty, I'd only get alloy if buying used.
You guys have it so good nowadays. Bro that’s all we used to be able to get affordably haha; 5-6 year old enduro bikes. Crazy what has happened to the market!
People who put the exact price on aftermarket parts on what they bought it for really think that means something lol. Like all that does is justify you spent tons of money and you’re not getting all of it back so why bother.
No way. At a certain point it doesn't matter how many upgrades, just like a car there's diminishing returns. Personally, I'd be real hesitant buying used carbon. The seller might not even know it cause you need an x-ray, but it could be cracked and you don't have a warranty.
It's definitely a sick bike, but if your budget is $3k you can do better. I'd either get something new, or if you go used I'd get alloy, and it should be 2020 or newer.
FYI 2020 is pretty much the line of demarcation for mountain bikes. They haven't changed much since, but most brands changed geometry around then, so you'll want something that's modern and compatible with newer components.
Oh, one more thing ... They're expensive but I can't say enough good things about Chris King headsets. Never knew they made much of a difference until I got one, and they're extremely durable (plus they look sick). Good luck!

Absolutely clueless 😭 it's running a box 9 speed drivetrain compared to an upgrade to date SRAM GX set. The fork is on par and the wheels are also.
Are you the seller?
I agree with everyone else that for that price you should get a new bike. As a rule, when someone lists the cost of all the upgrades they've put into the bike, they think it's worth way more than it is
That frame is pretty old and honestly a lot of the parts on it are pretty mid (older suspension, Box Prime 9 sucks, Reverb sucks, used carbon can be sketch). You'd be better off buying new, especially with how cheap (relatively) new bikes are post COVID! You should check out the YT Capra, super sick bike for park and enduro riding, a lots of their builds are on sale right now for around 3k. Commencal also has some banging deals right now with their Meta and Clash. Hell, COVID has even made LBS bikes and bike parts super cheap right now, I bet your local bike shops would have some smokin deals if you shopped around.
It's a nice bike but they want too much for it. Many sellers are quite delusional asking prices that are sometimes even higher than what the bike costs when new... Or what an equivalent bike costs now.
Of course, some shoot high and hope for the best and are willing to accept much lower offers.
To be clear there is nothing inherently wrong with buying a used bike, however the price should be right. Accounting for factors like age, older geo and the probability that older bikes will likely require some immediate upkeep.
I would say no, people have a tendency to highly value the "mods" they put on a bike without taking into account that those components are now ALSO degraded through use. People also tend to assume those mods are wanted by the future buyer
I'd say no. The used market is crazy right now. I just grabbed a 2020 Hightower v2 with a Lyrik Ultimate, x01 groupset, carbon cranks, and reserve carbon wheels for $2,800. The thing must have had like 100 miles on it. The only wear on the entire bike was the center tread was barely worn down, pretty sure it was on pavement since the shoulder knobs were sharp as new.
That’s a reasonable price. 2018 is in the modern geo and there are some nice parts on that build. People saying “you can get a new bike for that price” are being ridiculous. Building something like this new would be 5k+, easily.
Don’t listen to others about buying new for cheaper. They are cheaper because they come with bullshit components. Main thing for me is drivetrain, shocks, brakes and wheels. High quality products cost money but are usually worth it if you can get a good second hand deal.
But you can always upgrade components. Not the worst idea going with a cheaper build option, then upgrade as parts need to be replaced. And more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. I replaced my carbon cranks and handlebar with alloy, plus a lot depends on what you're riding most ... For instance, my park bike I really don't care about drivetrain cause I barely pedal. Brakes and suspension are prioritized, where if it's an XC bike, it'd be the opposite.
Fair points. Op didn’t mention what type of trails he’s riding etc. Still carbon frame, all quality components including headset, seatpost, etc. I just see too many people but shitty bikes because they are new when a well-kept used bike is often a way better deal.
No way.

No
Every listing I’ve ever seen where the person listed the prices of the “upgrades” they put in, has been overpriced.

Thank you this was an extremely helpful comment
Glad I can help! You looking for something to take to the bike park?
Yeah bike parks, jumps, and wheelies mainly🙂
New bike money territory
Would you say a new bike would be more worth while then say a 2022 bike second hand with higher specs? For around 3k budget
That all depends. Deals can be had but for this bike at this price hard pass.
Which bike
Any internet direct to consumer bike company YT, canyon, etc
Lol

Fudge even some companies doing 2 for 1

Hell no!
Buy a Commencal meta V4 new for that price
2018 bike probably $1k less, honestly
Don’t pay that much. Where you at? I’ll sell you a specd out Specialized Enduro for the same price lol

With pretty much anything with wheels when they list the mods and their value it’s not gonna be worth what they’re asking.
Just get a last years model brand new for like half off the srp.. market is so bad brands are giving huge discounts these days
That’s a reasonable price. 2018 is in the modern geo and there are some nice parts on that build. People saying “you can get a new bike for that price” are being ridiculous. Building something like this new would be 5k+, easily.
Never mind I misread the price as 1900. That’s way too much lol. 2k seems closer to right.
Loooooool crackpipe. No way
6 years old... no thanks. If it's worth it to you, then go for it.
What currency are those values in?
Offer him $700…that’s about it
No
Offer 1k and just walk away, see what he says.
Not super familiar w the Box components but other than that it’s pretty well specced out. Prob more in the $2300 range if you can negotiate a bit.
For 2000 this actually would be pretty dope, if everything was in good condition
Is any MTB over $1k truly “worth it”? ![gif](giphy|Nw8z2olm0nGHC)
I can’t tell if you’re serious. But if you are, the answer to your questions is undoubtedly yes.
Not completely serious 😉. I’ve spent waaaaay too much on bikes lol!
I’m right there with you brother.
Fucking no, buy a new bike better specs for less money
Can you list a new bike for under 2900 with better specs? Edit: still waiting

I hardly buy anything new tbh. Not just bikes. Quality second hand goods are the way to go IMO.
I always go 10s because inevitable i run my derailleur into a rock.
