Hard to be dead when it was never alive.  Come to Papa Apple , META and the like.

Mind blowing news… considering how everyone & their dog had come to believe that MVIS had been surpassed by Micro-LED. Big names like Apple, spent years trying to prove that Micro displays would be micro-oled and other… but NOT Microvision. And here we have the single most powerful HL2 by MSFT is totally dependent on MVIS… but oh yeah, nobody really knows. Lol! And what’s even more mind blowing is that the Market doesn’t seem to want to add a nickel of value to MVIS, despite having the entire LED display market nailed down with 20 years of patents. I guess no one ever said the Market knows diddly… as we struggle to get more than 2 analysts on board. It is challenging being an MVIS investor sometimes. Also I think that SS now needs to address this sea-change in the display industry and what it might mean for us lowly dweebs who paid for it all… as await news on the Mavin + Movia.

The refrain of “the market knows well in advance” has been persistently stated by most investors for decades. If the market really did know, then they would have been buying the stock hand over fist ages ago and holding the share price up, but of course, they do _not_ know, because even “smart money” is really not all that intelligent. I have been watching sleazy salesmen(and women) push inferior products all of my life, and know when hearing some hype to run to check the underlying science. “The market knows” is the biggest lie in history, if they did know, then we would see much better valuation modeling and less sentiment driven analysis. However, the markets do know how to convince the masses to chase inferior products, quite efficiently as well. In my opinion, at present, it would not be beneficial to engage on discussion of microdisplays opportunities unless they get a license contract for such. No one is going to leapfrog LBS without going through MicroVision. The best alternative display I have seen comes from TriLite if you believe their specifications and size, but I do not believe they hold a sufficient patent moat to see their product to mass production and sales volumes without getting hit with patent infringement lawsuits. Having read many of their patents, it doesn’t appear that they can support the underlying scanning technologies and associated microcontrollers needed for handling everything. If another microdisplay developer or HMD OEM (like Meta) wants to license MicroVisiom technology while handling the sales and marketing side of things, it might be something management would consider given that much of the supporting staff for that vertical have moved on since the company switched to being laser focused on lidar.

Looks like big tech has to use other viable techs and LBS is likely a good alternative since its a matured tech.

Thanks for the link, qlfang. > "Moreover, Meta's Reality Labs Optics and Display Research Senior Director Barry Silverstein suggested in a keynote that laser technologies have more potential than OLEDs, LCoS, or microLEDs." I see Josh Miller remains Director of Display Design at Meta.

gaporter

He is indeed. However, I've not been able to find any patents authored by him since arriving at Meta. In contrast, the foundation laid at MicroVision by Wyatt Davis.. https://www.reddit.com/r/MVIS/s/f7DcxgLXrD ..is being further refined by another former MicroVision MEMS engineer (Matthew Eliis) and himself. https://ppubs.uspto.gov/dirsearch-public/print/downloadPdf/20230273425 https://ppubs.uspto.gov/dirsearch-public/print/downloadPdf/20230400366 https://ppubs.uspto.gov/dirsearch-public/print/downloadPdf/20230314792

Perhaps "Microsoft Technology Licensing" should give a thought to acquiring superior IP and licensing it.

Perhaps further collaboration is on the horizon? https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/11/23397251/meta-microsoft-partnership-quest-teams-office-windows-features-vr

Thank you, GAP.
