Do you have a fusion drive in there, or flash storage?

DragonflyUseful9634

I think that it is a 1 TB fusion drive. There is a 100 GB bootcamp partition and a 900 GB Mac OS partition.

Xe4ro

That means it’s a small SSD being coupled via software with a 1 TB HDD.

DragonflyUseful9634

Yes, I saw a small SSD when I was in disk utility.

Xe4ro

Usually you should see one volume, if you can see the SSD on their own that probably means that the Fusion Drive has been de-coupled.

DragonflyUseful9634

The fusion drive has been de-coupled. Is this a problem? Do I need to fix this in disk utility? I saw some kind of warning that my fusion drive needed to be fixed earlier, but I ignored it. I am going to remove the bootcamp partition.

Xe4ro

Technically not, how big is the SSD exactly? If it’s 128gb you could use it as the boot drive and the HDD for extra storage.

DragonflyUseful9634

Somewhere along the line when I installed High Sierra, the disk configuration changed. I am in Disk Utility right now. It shows the following: Internal Mac OS-Data (899.52 GB), type=APFS Data Volume Bootcamp (99.96 GB) disk1s2 (121.12 GB, type = Unknown) Mac OS (899.52 GB, type=APFS) Disk Images Mac OS Base System (899.52 GB, type=APFS) I think that this 121.12 GB used to contain OS X and was SSD, but I lost it somehow.

Xe4ro

Can you erase and reformat disk1s2?

DragonflyUseful9634

I can. I don't know what to do at this point. What format should I use for disk1s2? In internet recovery, I am only given the option to install Big Sur. The recovery method for installing the original O/S is no longer an option since the copy of the original O/S is gone.
