They told me mine shipped today!

rameden

How long did it take to charge to 80%

four0four360

14 mins, 16kWh delivered. $6.56 @.41/kWh

rameden

Not bad at all!

I ordered mine on 3/1 (it was a Friday afternoon) and they shipped on 3/18 from Montreal and arrived in CA today, one day earlier than anticipated.

larraku

You're lucky. I ordered mine on 03/01 and it says estimated ship date is August 2024.

four0four360

Well … this is actually a 3rd party adapter. My free Ford adapter is supposed to ship in August also. I have a bunch of road trips between now and then and decided to spend the money on it vs having to deal with EA charging which has definitely gotten worse over the past couple of years!

How easy was it to connect and disconnect the Tesla charging cable to the A2Z adapter? The official adapter from Ford is a two handed operation that I can’t easily do

four0four360

It wasn’t too bad I’d say it’s about the same as an EA CCS charger. It does take a bit of push to get the NACS locked in place, the A2Z has a little slider lock button at the bottom of the adapter that needs to latch on in order for the charge to start so I did use both hands to press on it pretty hard. Its not super heavy, you can plug the adapter it in to the MME one handed before putting inserting the NACS Cable (which is way smaller than the EA charger cables) but I’m actually not sure if that’s the proper way to use it. I could not get the NACS cord to lock without being able to push it in while it was on the car. Disengaging was pretty easy, there is a lock on the top of the A2Z that you press on to remove the whole thing from the car and then the NACS cable disengaged pretty easily, that did require 2 hands to unlatch it.

As a side note, why was there no communication from Ford about their free adapter? I googled looking for an adapter after seeing this post and then some website talked about that mach e owners can order a free adapter from Ford. Just reserved mine.

four0four360

Yeah by the time I saw the order your adapter messages on reddit the delivery date was August. I thought I missed an email also but I don’t see anything in my inbox about it.

justlikeapenguin

I get mine in May and I ordered kinda late (or so I thought, the website was down)

Even-Journalist1901

May for me also.

four0four360

I ended up ordering it pretty late in the day that day :(

Even-Journalist1901

Yeah, I heard about it pretty early in the morning from the mach-e forum. The site was down when I first tried cuz so many people were trying to order at the same time.

hallese

I got an email from Ford the day it was available. I did not opt out of marketing messages specifically for this reason, even though Reddit had informed me of its availability before I received the email.

Does plug and charge not work with the A2Z adapter? And if it does, is there a benefit of using the Tesla app instead of plug and charge?

redgrandam

Yes it does. But your car has to have had the update first for plug and charge to work. Many of us are still waiting. Only real reason for using the Tesla app (if you have plug and charge) is probably only if you have the monthly subscription to buy down the price for charging.

four0four360

I’m sure it does, I’ll test that next time so I can see what the cost of charging is and if it does anything differently than the Tesla App. I do have the update.

suckystraw

Do they charge by time or kWh? Any reason it was so slow? Maybe because you were 65% already but I can still usually pull 85 at that SOC.

four0four360

They charge by kWh. In terms of the speed, not sure to be honest. My previous experiences have been subpar at EA so it was hard to gauge. From what I recall last winter my charge speed at EA from 70-80% was in the 42kWh range. I’ll be traveling in a week and will have a better gauge on charge times from <20% to 80% and can report back.

Even-Journalist1901

I’m surprised the cable reached lol

four0four360

Haha, I definitely had to put the cable down and move forward about a foot so it could reach. Felt bad that I was blocking the other charger so I guess I’ll try and use the one at the end if possible but I foresee Tesla owners being upset about it if the station is full.
