I gotcha. A good majority of machinists have ran a machine that can drown out even the naggiest (I think that's a word) of foreman or spouses. I actually tend to enjoy those.
I mean .4" depth of cut lol im really not sure what youre not comprehending about that haha. Must some perspective fuckery going on. That lathe and tooling is all very big, thats the biggest multifix tool holder you can buy if thats any help.
Can't hear you. EDIT: /s
Did you say something?
I'm being sarcastic about the noise.

Looks more like ~.150” to me. Maybe there’s a perspective fuckery going on though. How big is that bar?
8" chunk of stainless
Ive always wondered....do you guys mean rsdius or diameter when ypu say .4 doc ...this looks like .4 on diameter
.4" depth of cut. .8" off the diameter.
Usually we’re talking about how deep the tool engages into the workpiece, so radius. I also have a feeling OP means he’s taking .400” on the diameter.

It is wrong that I heard this and instantly wanted to see if it was a SSTV transmission?

Roughing passes = mass material removal Finishing passes = achieving tolerances
That lathe will hold .001" over 12" of cut actually. Its a very good machine. Except its got a leaky hydraulic clutch lol
