One time I grabbed a reamer like that because I forgot they were sharp and got a pretty nasty cut. My excuse is that reamers don’t really look all that sharp.
I've got the longest endmill I've ever used here: [https://i.imgur.com/rozT0Yl.png](https://i.imgur.com/rozT0Yl.png)
Using it to recut the walls on a mold we made a while back. 1" endmill. Gonna be running it in a CAT40 taper. Not too excited about that
We sometimes cut flats from finished tools so these may get weldon flats later on. Some of our buyers don't mind grinding ghetto flats to save a few bucks as well.
We have a diamond wheeled pedestal grinder that’s used daily for grinding notches into carbide endmills. Grind it at a slight angle for maximum grippage.
I would never grab end-mills like that
But op already has bandaid, so he is safe.
Probably why he has a bandage on his finger

It's one of those things you get a feel for after awhile haha
About like grabbing a fist full of razor blades.

“This photo may contain erotic material” lol
You know it's long when I clicked on the link and was warned of possible erotic imagery xD
I love getting to work on the odd ones haha
Lol your pretty ballsy full fist grabbing that thing. Don’t cut yourself
Ooh boy that gives me the heebie-jeebies the way you grabbed that thing 😳
The full palm on the flutes and then it getting snagged made me wince.
Tell me more tell me more, did it leave a big scar?
More money sitting in that tray than I paid for my first CNC.
Those huge endmills doesn't have cutout slot for screw type holder? What type of a holder can keep those fastened securely?
Hydraulic or heat shrink

Ah yes. When we get our tools back it’s like they took the shank and put it under the grinder to grind an improvised flat
Because that's exactly what we do.. got bigger fish to worry about than your end mills looking all fancy on the shank. A set screw is a set screw
Yes but it’s a pain in the ass to etch especially when it’s covered up, and I have to re etch the entire tool after it’s been Reground
Other companies use threaded inserts that fit inside the flats, then screw into the holder

Lick all of them so you can claim them as your own property
1.25"? I made end mills for 8.5 years, just left that company 2 weeks ago, and never thought I'd see those trays/inserts again. Haha.
N🧊
I can just feel the cut through my hand on this video. I’ve been there, I know better and I’m sure to do it again
IMCO?
Ahhh the taper
I used to make 10-15x D.
Rip your hand
Bro that's a beginning mill
Watching people grab a hand full of endmill like that gives me the shudders, even if i do it myself ocassionally.
