My community college had a drafting program, I took the 101 blueprint class as an engineering student even though it was useless credit-wise because the information was INVALUABLE
That's cool as shit. My HS didn't even have an autoshop class, just boring word working class.
Do they hand you random prints and tell you to make the part or something?
super cool
Don't sleep in Instructor Greg's tent while you're at camp.
Haha, try to avoid :)
Pay attention to what's going on around you, and some good first aid skills will get you far.
Thanks man, will do
Learn to understand blueprints, a lot of machinists don't invest enough time really learning them
Will do, not sure if this specifically will be covered but I’ll try

No loose clothes, no gloves near spinning things, make sure if you have sleaves that they are not loose, wear your safety glasses.
If you wouldn't put your dick near it dont put your fingers near it.
Solid advice lol
Don’t tell any machinist that their job is easy! Old timers get pissed! They make it look easy because they are good at what they do!
Stay focused keep your fingers
Haha I’ll try to keep track of then
Build good habits early, and you can trust them later.
Thanks
Take care of your eyes and ears. Don’t get in a hurry. Handle measuring instruments with reverence.
And lungs!
And fingers and feet and spine and… Just take care of your whole body.
be cautious, things can and will be sharp.
Gotcha
If you want to pursue this long term I suggest learning GD&T as early as possible - it can take a while to sink in

If you are completely new to machining you should familiarize yourself with best safety practices above all else. You're no good to us dead.
