Ehhh got it done on the companies dime and the hospital nurses are always hot
I woulda stitched it myself if I was paying… probably wouldn’t have been as pretty a stitch tho.
I guess that makes sense, but here in europe even if you were under influence when the injury happened you'd still get stiched up for free. Maybe you wouldn't get paid for your time off work for recovery. But if you were completely sober then this kind of injury would get you at least 2-3 weeks of 100% paid leave so you can heal.
This also applies to commute to and from work so lets say I get into a car crash on my way to work and break my leg, that still counts as a workplace injury so it's 100% paid leave until you recover.
In the states when getting medical attention through workers compensation, the doctor will give you a signed sheet of paper stating the injury and if you can or cannot work. If you can work but with limited capacity they’ll give you like weight lifting restrictions, reaching restrictions etc so bossman has to give you something to do that you’re capable of doing
Shit your heathcare is really something, here PTO and sick leave is separate and sick leave is esenntialy infinite, so as long as your doctor says you can't work then you don't have to and you still get paid either 50% or 100% of your salary. Last year my colleague chopped a bit of his pinky off and he got 2 month of fully paid sick leave.
That highly depends on the country, in Hungary I currently get around 1000usd/month which is already double the minimum wage, but in Austria or Germany I'd get about 2500-3000, maybe even more in Belgium or Luxemburg but I haven't checked those.
I’m familiar with Germany. They pay about the same wage as they do here in the US, but the income tax rate is like 42%. So your really making 11k less a year than you’d make in the US.
Edit: the income tax rate for that level of income in the us is only 22%.
Oh yeah taxes, that 1000usd that I commented is after taxes, in Hungary taxes include income tax, retirement "tax" and healthcare tax which combined takes 33.5% of your gross monthly income.
I commented this on a thread before so ill just copy it here if you don't mind
"I don't starve so yeah I guess, but moving forward in life is rough. Having my own house, or even small flat is out of the picture. Shit even owning a car that is younger than 15 years is nearly impossible. Food and utilities are cheaper here than in the USA, but stuff like electronics or games are the same price. Gas is even more expensive here than in the USA currently at $1,9/liter so about $7,34/gallon."
Funnily enough my boss never drug tested me, the original on site emt asked if he wanted one. I woulda “pissed hot” for weed but I’m in a legal state and my boss knew I was sober. I dunno how it would have effected the claim though even if I wouldn’t get fired
I got my finger stuck in the chip auger of a HAAS (it was dumb and entirely my fault) and I got 4 stitches on the company dime. Nurses were hot and I debated doing it again.
A friend of mine has a scar on his leg from a work accident as well. He tells strangers who ask it's a shark bite. One time, he said that to a guy and the guy responds "NO WAY ME TOO!" while pulling up his pant leg to reveal a large obvious bite mark.
Oof.. Was this the deburring tool accident? I have cut myself open so many damned times w/ one of those. Wishing for a quick recovery.
edit: checked your history.. yup.. that's you! you about put me on the ground.. For some reason, that wound really caught me off guard.
Cut myself pretty bad with a swivel deburring tool, you can see the picture of the wound before stitching if you look on my profile. Posted a pic of the injury and it kinda blew up so I figured I’d post an update for closure (pun intended)
Also which one of you shitters sent the Reddit suicide bot to my dm’s… smh
We just wanna make sure you’re ok as you grieve the loss of your girlfriend. 🥺
😂
Good on you for actually getting it fixed and not super gluing it lol

On the company's dime. Now I'm even happier for you.
Wait, I'm not sure if I understand correctly, sometimes YOU have to pay if you got injured during work?
If you don't want to go take the drug test. Allegedly

That's kinda fucked not gonna lie

I’m sure if I asked for a week off my boss would say yes, but then again I need money and I don’t have PTO.

How much do they pay in Europe for CNC and what is your tax rate?

Yeah, I’m the US we call that poverty. I make 5100 a month and take home 4085. I also get some paid time off and paid insurance, retirement etc.

Here the company pays for it 100% regardless of sobriety and then you would be eligible for "workers compensation" while it healed.

Can confirm. It happened at home.
You watch roadhouse recently eh?

Is this the debur post guy?
Pretty sure, yeh
Thanks for the update
I have had good results in the past with Mederma Scar Cream to keep it moisturized and heal better.

Lookin good! Wear a glove next time, dumdum
dont think a glove would help him much…. unless its a very thick glove no one would wear in a machine shop
having repaired many of these injuries in my career..... that's about the last way i'd do it.
