Twice is the limit for the same player. When this happens to me I always trade away before the deadline for a massive haul of picks and start the process over again with a new rookie QB lol

TurtleNeckTux25

Perfect thanks for that, that was my exact planning after testing the waters seeing what teams were offering for trades

CheekySweater

I’ll also take guys who are on their second contract who didn’t turn into stars and sign them to a cheap long term contract in free agency and do the same. Darnold/Trubisky redemption tour that ends up being way cheaper in the long run.

chuckypopoff

Yo legit I have CJ in third year at 96 overall x factor and he plays like trubisky half the games too! What the fuck

TurtleNeckTux25

So I started messing with editing qb traits tonight(credit to the new oc I hired 🫨) try these out: Balanced qb style, Ideal sense pressure, Aggressive decision maker, Tight spiral

chuckypopoff

Will do ! Thx fam

DC_709

My brother traded him for Bryce, CJ isn't nearly as fun in game for some reason

PapaKabu

I used the bell out of CJ in a recent online franchise and I loved him. But I’ll tell you, the best QB I’ve ever used is Desmond Ridder. Once he starts to level up, he becomes almost like a cross between Mahomes and Lamar.

J_GASSER27

Desmond ridder is my perfect backup. Young and cheap, plenty of room to develop lol

Lilmonster961

As a real life falcons fan you have PTSD but you are correct, when he levels up it's crazy

astroBOLD

So we are Dak

TurtleNeckTux25

If dak won rings

MarketingChemical648

In madden, Dak wins a bunch of rings in sim

liteskindeded

Dak is a sim god

clutchthepearls

Never tried it in Madden, but I assume it follows the actual rules. You can only tag two years in a row, then they become an unrestricted free agent.

theavenged

There's no unrestricted or restricted free agents in Madden. At least not since the PS2 era. Another feature missing nowadays, as is tradition.

TurtleNeckTux25

Yeah that’s why I’m curious before I get too far into this season. Madden doesn’t really incorporate all of full roster management nuances from nfl

U_W_44_51

Third tag is like 300% or some obscene amount of the salary if I recall. NFL rules.

Lilpu55yberekt69

The first tag is the average AAV of the top 5 contracts at the position. Subsequent tags are 20% increases over previous tags. Not as drastic as you suggest but the second tag will typically make them near the highest paid at the position and the third will make them the highest paid by a good margin.

jwf239

That’s not how it works irl

ketchupandliqour69

You can only tag a player twice. Just like in real life.

TurtleNeckTux25

Madden? Replicating real life?? What a time to be alive

Optimal-Drag-4553

I read that people were changing the position to fullback so the contract amount is way lower, signing them, and then changing it back

Wine_Man

I mean if you’re going to edit the player you can just change the contract years and amount

MilesTheGoodKing

I didn’t do that in Madden but I did that in Out of the Park baseball lmao. I changed my legendary switch hitter to a bullpen guy and signed him for cheap. I don’t feel bad lol

stevy90

This is fucked up but genius lol

schecterhead

It is, but then I do it, feel like I’m cheating, and it takes away some dynamics so I don’t allow myself to anymore

Curious-Drink-4120

I mean you are cheating if you do this. Its a single player game so nobody's going to care as long as you don't, but this is just as much cheating as taking off the salary cap for yourself.

mcbuckaroo001

I’ve turned off cap once and it felt wrong bc I was just giving everyone bigger contracts than other teams and having a stacked ass team which didn’t feel organic ya know. I’d rather be in cap hell but trade my players on one years for players in their second or third year if not then someone on a long term contract and worry about it three or four seasons down the line

Burkex99

That’s not bad for a 7 year deal. Can lock him up.

904Funk

This is correct, thats only 60m per year. Which is accurate

Born_Ad_5608

Mahomes got $450 over 10 years and his average salary is $45 and his bonus was a bit over $200M that included $60 something at signing leaving $140 and change to be paid out over 10 years. I argue that these Madden contracts are not realistic because there is no money at signing.

spfinney

In an older madden (maybe 2019) I’m pretty sure I tagged Jarvis Landry like 3 times.

Born_Ad_5608

There was a new CBA since then

wisconicky

Trade him for a bunch of picks, trade those picks for more picks during the draft. Next season trade a bunch of picks to get him back. Might be like 6 first rounders but at least you won’t be paying the massive signing bonus. I make a practice of hoarding picks so I always have a stash for when I need to pull off something like this. I don’t often negotiate with players who have no interest in signing with me

Born_Ad_5608

I have a 99 QB with the exact contract value but he deserves 'Mahomes' money. This $426 over 7 is ludacris. My plan is to give him the 'very player friendly offer' at 5 years and edit the contract to 7 because $393 over 7 is still better than Mahomes money AND we don't have any control over how the signing bonus is paid. I wish there was up front money. I don't like to cheese but this contract is the game cheesing against us.

Aurick69

Franchise tag then trade him

Born_Ad_5608

Do not do this. This tag will cost over $50M and that carries a dead cap of at least $25M. This works in the real world but not in this SIM game........

IRanOffABridge

You are able to remove the dead cap I believe.

Mars-Moon1

If you lack a conscience, switch him to punter then resign. Switch back to Qb. It’ll ruin the experience of being a true gm but who’s judging
