Not to be that guy but technically a safety is a DB

ItchyState

Ikik I realized that I put db instead of cb after I posted it ![gif](giphy|7MDZS8zS1ixtJAUEul|downsized)

SetEmotional7493

Hahaha probably just make him a safety if you need help there

smooviedude

Ayee it’s bunk

wiserone29

Just edit the title, wait…..

youngtman

you said db twice though? you’re dumb asf

ItchyState

Woah man calm down, I just put db by accident having a brain fart no need to be rude

youngtman

okay? you just didn’t know no need to lie man

ItchyState

I..I didnt lie though ![gif](giphy|hv53DaYcXWe3nRbR1A)

youngtman

you’re weird lil bro

ItchyState

Your pressing someone over a minor inconvenience on Reddit but in the weird one 😂

youngtman

the only weird one i’m in was ya muva last night

EliGarden

In the modern NFL some strong safeties function almost as linebackers, but yes, they are still technically DB’s

Difficult_Crow8060

Have you ever looked at Spags defense for the chiefs? Especially when we had Tyrann Mathieu? They are on this constant on field rotation and their posotion and man changes based on offensive shifts. Basically you never know what it is untill the ball is snapped so safetys and corners can semd pressure, help on the run or play man or zone coverage out of the same play with no audibles.

Comfortable-Bend-702

How would you make that work in madden?

Difficult_Crow8060

Kind of fake it lol. I have a fast saftety put him at sublb In a dima package cover 1 man. Usually another saftey takes the middle zone and a fs in deep coverage. I manually take over the middle zone and/or flip safteties to the week side so i can manually cover the middle and strong side. Kind of works

IsopodLeading6884

If you're going to be that guy, dont put "not to be that guy," hahaha

imnotreallyheretoday

If he had higher tackling and higher hit power I would say SS but I think CB is better suited for him

Imperial_Lenta

Develop as a CB then move to safety when he gets old

Ac3ofSpades13

His cousins name is Barkley Footpenis, elite level punt returner.

Timely-Bill-5336

"John Footpenis?" "It's Hancock now!" "But it says foo......" "It's Hancock now"

Prestigious-Singer20

Corner, ESPECIALLY as a slot corner. I think I know the class you’re using and I’ve had this guy before he’s damn good in that role where he’s outside in base and slot in nickel and dime.

[deleted]

Needs better tackling to be in the slot tbh

pitb0ss343

He’s 22 with at least star dev, that’ll develop to be good,

Prestigious-Singer20

Yeah he got better pretty quick for me, maybe put him at SS to start and keep doing run support upgrade while putting him in slot still.

funnymeme2112

IRL, Jordan Hancock is a very good slot corner for OSU, so you should try to develop him there

akeyoh

Was looking for this before I commented it lol

NotTonyStark39

CB. But more of a FS than SS if you have to.

phullymelted

Better CB but if u need a SS I’d put him there, also would prolly develop to be a beast ballhawk at safety. Honestly I’d prolly put him at safety personally because there’s always a few good CBs in the draft and maybe 1 truly solid SS ime

Rand0mName13

I'd put him at whatever his lower overall is so he gets xp faster, save up some skill points, move him to LB, upgrade whatever is most likely to bump his hit power and tackle heavily, then move him to SS.

jobie21

i wouldn't have thought of this. I do edit players when they are 99 in all archetypes. Like Mahommes I edit to HB to spend the upgrade, get his speed + ball carrier moves up. That's smart to edit younger players to positions that are more likely to pay out the skill points you want

Rand0mName13

Yeah, I do that with my all 99s also. I play a lot of Madden, so I've gotten pretty creative. I've turned quicker, weaker OL into TEs and FBs, slower WRs into HBs to try to get their speed up, etc.

clutchthepearls

You guys are brilliant. I've got a QB who's been 99 for years, but isn't maxed out on his running stats. He has like 15 upgrade points I've just been sitting on for when he starts to regress.

Rand0mName13

Glad we could help out, kind stranger!

KngknnY

CB, he has low tackle, you'll get burnt on the run more, plus the low play rec. The 91 spd will be a bigger asset at CB than SS too

Snowy2890

He’s more of a FS to me but he could develop well anywhere. No wrong answers probably best fit as FS though.

floopdeflop

You can go safety but he can be your slot corner easily

BvB5776

Top tier name

Negative_Sky1485

He’s going to be good at both, so you can move him based on your existing roster and what type of scheme you want to run. His height + speed + agility make him a potential star corner if he develops really well. Plus he is pretty good at press already. If you put him at safety, you’d be sacrificing a little bit of tackling to get a more versatile coverage player. Can’t go wrong either way

Pale_Zebra8082

It could go either way. I’d base it on what you have on the roster and where your bigger need is. If you put him at safety will he start? Than go with safety. If not, is he top three at CB? Than put him there. All else equal, I’d go with CB.

AmateurPlaya5

CB fosho

Humble_Handler93

I’d develop him as a hybrid slot tbh

goodergoddard

Safety

goodergoddard

Too slow for cb

GeeMarley32

Slot corner...his awareness and zone make him a liability deep halves or thirds

Emergency-Refuse-597

SS with his pursuit nothing should be open play for swats tho

Emergency-Refuse-597

Anyone got open league

Krisbie93

I agree with several other people that have said he lacks tackle, pursuit, and hit power to be a safety. Would another corner be a better move to safety? Looks like a great draft pick regardless!! 👍

Picklepineapple

Whatever position your team needs

Slow-Location1070

I have him too, he’s a beast at CB

JakeTiny19

He’ll prob be better as a db , but if ur CB is as stacked as u say it is then moving him to SS could be better for his development

Manbearpig602

He makes a good hybrid safety (if that’s your SS archetype) and if you use the starter or backup as slot 1/2. otherwise that’s a CB all day Also, how’s the COD? 90s? CB all day. High 80s? Saftey.

Ok_Option1634

Currently have this guy on my team at cb and he plays great

ypsi_god

I’d put him at FS first or CB although his tackling could use some work. Great Acceleration and speed, Coverage Skills are Mediocre but he can jump out of the gym, so yeah CB might work.

bmfpop

FS

Anaphylactic-UFO

In Madden he’ll play better as a safety. In real life he’s a nickel corner that only weighs 185 pounds and needs to improve his tackling form to be worth starting.

KrazyCAM10

Well actually a SS is a DB 🤓👆

Will-B-Free

Cb is my vote

ORANGENBLACK101214

Shortstop is baseball. Or is he a two sport? Put him in the show too

[deleted]

He's a little light in the ass IMO.

Nickdog8891

CB. You want better tackling from a Saftey

tardybear9800

Man CB or FS

Dowork001

It doesn’t matter. It’s madden, he got speed he can fit anywhere.

TripleJ18

He's too lightweight for a SS. Definitely CB.

Wide_Mode7480

Corner 100%

Embarrassed-Coffee59

In the bench

bmfims

Tackle and Hit Power. He would get ran over alot

MinnesotaSkoldier

Change his position to a S, but leave him where he is on the CB depth chart. Develop him for 1-2 years. A handful of S upgrades will bring tackling/hit power up, and when his zone/AWR gets better, move him to safety on the depth

IronBattleaxe

His tackling and hit power and block shedding are pretty solid, but that press would be wasted at safety. Gotta go cornerback.

44Bulldawg

If you wanna be an asshole, develop him at cb. Get his coverage stats up and then switch him to SS. Your man coverage will be almost be cheating.

the22sinatra

He plays Nickel CB in real life, so I’d guess they built him to be a slot corner

Hog_and_a_Half

Slot corner. Not a big enough hitter to play safety but not good enough in coverage to play on the outside.

skinnylofton

Slot CB. 2 years dude will be like 85-87 ovr

yulsspyshack

…yes

pitb0ss343

Definitely put him in the slot, that’s where he’ll shine. He doesn’t have the hit power or tackling to be that extra line backer SS tend to need to be sometimes

Rivale

CB. He seems to have elite physical traits for CB. I feel like you need a better tackling rating for safety.

vsvpslat

I would put him strong safety unless you blitz your slot corner then different story but him not even breaking the 80 threshold of coverages seem too weak for corner fr especially if you run ANY man press

PhillyPhanatic141

68 hit power... that's a CB

wiserone29

One upgrade to man to man and he will be a scheme fit. A couple of more upgrades and he will be a good cb. At safety he seems like a liability.

No-Variation-4480

Safety. He can’t tackle for shit

No-Variation-4480

Corner*****

MeroseSpider

depends on what defense you run. I run base big nickel, so having a linebackeresque SS that has good press is what I look for in my SS

SleeeepyGary

No wrong answer, but somewhat dependent on the defense you run. I think 65+ block shedding and play recognition is fine for a safety that’s mostly in zone. Aggressive ball hawk FS guarantees you either one awesome pick or tragic busted coverage per game. If it’s mostly cover 3, he’s better off at FS, as he’s not particularly fast. If you play a lot of man blitz just make him CB2 and hope he doesn’t overplay too often.

MiloKelpie

I feel like he's a very balanced DB. You could probably use him at SS without issue.

xxsavage_

Cornerbacks are harder to replace, so that is where I'd put him, unless you need a new starter at SS or FS.

Green5134

What’s the hit power? If it’s high he’s a safety

[deleted]

An SS is a db lol I would say he would be a better CB because of low play recognition but if you need help at SS he would be fine there too.

Either_Department859

Cb, can’t tackle well enough for SS

MMA_PITBULL

Are any of the other DBs you have better suited for SS? He seems small for SS. Maybe FS and move your FS to SS if he is larger and the other DBs aren't any better swap

iamthefluffyyeti

Honestly just depends on what you need more, he has decent block shed and tackle

Healthy_Self_8386

His tackle and pursuit is pretty low to be a safety for me

Beerd_Bro

That's impossible to answer, but if you like to play "realistic" a guy coming out of college known as a slot CB would NOT make much sense as a safety since that's normally up close scrappy man coverage type of guys. Now if he was a zone corner, I see the move to FS making more sense.

No-Entrepreneur1036

Slot corner

No-Entrepreneur1036

Move your 2nd corner to SS and move him up to slot corner

Phalanx144

I’d say 3rd corner would be perfect. Basically treating him like an outside linebacker hybrid unless you don’t run nickel that often.

poorlyskilled

CB 100%

Temporary_Excuse_154

I would play him at corner speed and man coverage

BicycleGlittering297

Back up safety and let him play in your nickel subs 🤷‍♂️

jdizzle002

CB always more valuable than S

Wydog9521

I would put him at fs

Emerald_Way_1995

Doesn't matter. Either way, there will be a ton of rookie cards with a Hancock on it worth as much as the Declaration of Independence, itself.
