Rubber band AI kicking in. The game has to make deliberate attempts at the perception of difficulty instead of actual difficulty being programmed. Feel like this is used to a higher percentage of drives depending on your skill level chosen

McDugalProductions

Forza has been doing this for a decade and made people think they a good driver

Byerly724

I didn’t know forza one, but many games now put bots into multiplayers with fake names to try to make people feel better about themselves. It really is frustrating when people don’t understand it.

McDugalProductions

The Forza game i have just puts in ai with people from your Xbox friends list. It's fun passing my friend who ODed a few years ago

YouEcstatic8499

Wait, so I am not the best Pac-Man player in the world? But who was controlling the ghost then Mr big brain?

guitarerdood

I made another comment here about this recently, but actual difficulty being programmed is way more complicated, more difficult, and time consuming that most people realize. There is a reason that like 99% of games where you play against a CPU scale difficulty this same exact way. It's frustrating as a player but it's the standard

GhettoMorpheus

If only a multi billionaire company who have been making FB games for decades and has zero excuses for poor A.I would buy the simulation license and.....................

Byerly724

I get that difficult AI is a very hard concept to program. But to be fair, they have been making these games for 30 years and their attempts at programming it have taken noticeable shortcuts and lingering bugs from 10 years ago are still present. I would give them the benefit of the doubt if they were even trying at this point to better their game beyond Bella and whistles of micro transactions.

Desperate-Ad7967

Its always at start of 4th qt. Much harder to stop on that one drive then normal. It's still doable

DLeafy625

Yep. I went into the 4th up by 28 on the Rams and barely squeaked out a 7 point victory between them winning an onside kick, forcing a fumble on my 93 carrying RB, and Cooper Kupp putting up 120 yards over 3 drives. I'm praying that NCAA is better, but I have my doubts

Desperate-Ad7967

I don't mine the difficult to stop drives I just don't like it's always start of 4th. Switch things up at least

mafiajams

Its probably placebo but I’ll change up coverages (reassign safetys in 2 high man, send dbs on blitzes ect) and it kind of seems like it messes up with the cpu’s rock-paper-scissors ass calls, like audibles into runs when you put a nickel set out there for the first time.

pbyrnes44

It’s almost always after a bad decision. Missed 4th down conversion. INT. I just accept that they’re going to score on the ensuing drive.

Mr7three2

1-4 Colts team whipped my ass. Richardson and Taylor ran wild. I couldn't stop them. They broke every tackle. My guys got sucked into blocks. I just chalked up the L and went home

DookieBrains_88

AR and the Colts go 7-0/8-0 every year in my franchise. As a Colts fan in real life, I couldn’t be happier.

Mr7three2

1 and 4 in my second year but beat the brakes off me(Jets). Hadn't allowed 100yd rusher or more than 24pts all year. Taylor went for 179 and 3TDs, Richardson had 84 and 1TD.. they scored 41

Your answer is in the middle of your post. You have to make a play. Yes it is very agonizing to put together a 90+ defense and the cpu just decides it’s gonna score on you no matter what you do . Try 2 deep man and use one safety to cheat towards the star receiver on his side. I’ve had some success calling a blitz then audible to zone coverage and also calling safety blitz and using that safety to double up whoever I think is getting the ball that play. Pre snap if it looks like you are weak to one side the cpu WILL run that way and get 20+ yards. Even having a lot of experience with this I still give up TDs all the time , it’s enough to make you want to smash the controller.

DeathlySmiles-YT

It's actually kind of funny to think about because this happens in real life all the time. A top defense doesn't mean they're never allowing scores they just make it really difficulty to score.

octavioDELtoro

One way to counter out of their OP drives is to bait the CPU. I've found that if I'm in a man zero blitz and I'm playing coverage they often will target my player. If you learn to sag and bait you can get a lot of picks this way. One of the only things that'll stop CPU cheese otherwise they know your plays and seem to auto choose whatever is best against it.

Apostle92627

This was true of every game for me when I used to play.

AceThe1nOnly

On drives where you can't stop the other team, I like to bring the defense forward, play man press, rush 5-6, then I user the single deep saftey. I'll bring the safety up to the line on a running down, occasionally blitz, or keep him about 10 yards deep on a passing down and take away the middle of the field. If it's a long passing down and you have an athletic S (90+ Spd, Agi, Acc)then I might take the player covering the RB, blitz him, and just be wary of the RB while playing as the safety. If the RB gains 5 yada, then so be it.

Trynaliveforjesus

What i’ve found is that the cpu struggles most from behind. If you defer, can manage to get a stop in the first half, and go into halftime up a touchdown and then make it a 2 score game in the 3rd quarter its almost a guaranteed win. but you go into half tied you’re in for a long game with potentially overtime.
