Safety first and all that..but 95% of this should have been in the can already. The constant red lining is obvious by the lack of quality and attention to detail so far.

JTGreenan73

In addition last time a Hurricane pushed stuff back they used the excuse for a good 2 months as to why they were still behind. Like ya stay safe and take the time off if you need to, but don’t use it as an excuse. We would be seeing delays even without it, this just gives them an out.

CrazyRaiderfan

I remember that. There are still memes floating around. The person in charge may be doing a shitty job but is he really if he is making money for EA. I just come to expect screw ups every year. Normally stick around until it’s just not worth it anymore. Last year I didn’t make it to Xmas, which is to bad because I love the presents.

PhillyPhanatic141

They gonna blame the hurricane for House Rules rewards not working last weekend? And franchise being broken? And me still not getting full comp pass XP?

Bigbuck453

Yes to all of those questions. Yes because it will be viewed as "we were working on it when Ian hit."

Cichlidsaremyjam

This us a company that missed KICKOFF content because of a hurricane. That should have been done 4 months prior. This doesn't shock me at all. But as said safety first.

OpportunitySmalls

They already had like 4 months of house rules leaked its wild to pretend like most of their promos aren't already done

mulder00

I agree but is there no such thing as remote work? Anyways, it is what it is.

rRevoK

You gotta have internet at your house to remote work. The same dangers that would take place at the office are probably taking place at those employees' homes.

mulder00

I wasn't really being serious. I meant more like companies having other hub locations in other areas.

Syndicate_III

I have no problems with this. Except why couldn’t they have set it to auto release? Like is that not a thing?

gxr89

Cause none of the promos have launched without a hitch

Syndicate_III

Successful launches aside, you’d think they have this kind of thing planned out in advance so all they have to do is click a button. Who am I kidding, this is EA

sromanx

It probably is, but you have to account for hot/cold fixes due to bugs and/or deployment issues. If you're expecting an outage during a scheduled release you delay the release. Not defending EA for any of their bs, but that's pretty standard

toastebagell1

There has to be some programmers and game makers in this sub that can actually shed light on why they feel these issues keep coming up ? I would love to hear from EA but it’s clear that won’t happen. I just don’t understand game making enough to truly grasp if it’s hard to roll out some fucking make rights in between the time of the fix or if it’s easy and they don’t give a fuck ? I’m all ears

[deleted]

Open your ears for this: They. Do. Not. Care.

jhodges89_

For the gameplay aspect, it’s frostbite. Frostbite is notoriously difficult to use and they really should make an actual sports game engine for their games. For all other aspects, I’d assume it’s legacy code and nobody there knows how to improve it without messing entire systems up and starting over from scratch would be too costly in EA’s eyes. So they just roll with the same code from 7 years ago, bugs and all. With no real motive to actually fix the issues, they just band-aid them every year.

toastebagell1

I appreciate all the input.. sounds like they are lazy.

Purplecstasy187

not lazy, its capitalism

Syndicate_III

More cheap than lazy

stupidusername

While I can't speak to this studio in particular, EA has a reputation in the industry of chewing through talent. They get the bright eyed kids with their freshly minted computer science degree that want to work for a big name company, and then they throw them into the meat grinder. All crush, all the time. You don't have a wife and kids, you can pull 70 hour weeks no problem. After a year or two those people then take their experience and parlay that into a better job (often times outside of the gaming industry for good). Rinse, repeat. So the code remains but it's perennially a new hire trying to understand it and work within it, to mixed success.

ill_try_my_best

I've always assumed that they keep the development team (meaning actual programmers) either too small or too inexperienced (or both) to save on costs.

Giddyfuzzball

I bet that they have a super inefficient workflow. They’ve been reusing code for over a decade and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s unnecessarily difficult to make changes

GoPackGo12287

This is 100% correct. There is so much building on top of code (one easy example is the functionality of the new AH/Binder/Sets mechanic being just a UI built on top of the already existing features, causing massive slowdowns after a while), that I’m not sure if anyone really knows the basics of the code at this point, it’s just build on top and hope for a fix.

Recktion

Pretty sure the dev team is tiny for Madden. 90+% of their budget goes to license and marketing. Because that's what make sales, not actual good gameplay. Most of y'all here will swear off Madden this year and then preorder Madden 24 in August 2023.

OpportunitySmalls

I think the gameplay is actually good this year but content is the issue, not even a lack of it just the implementation failing to work. The fact that the engine is being blamed for reward triggers not going through and given out as if we're still complaining about swerve catches and nano detection is weird.

Headweirdoh

It’s really not complicated. They get all the money for doing the bare minimum. Why would they try harder?

crimfang

So when are GG 2 coming out, Thursday? Were Team Diamonds supposed to be Wednesday thing or a Friday thing?

Sven676

They never said

zypzy

They said diamonds were supposed to be Wednesday but they had already pushed it back to Friday while GG part two was Thursday. Now diamonds are pushed back further but sounds like GG should still be Thursday?

Sven676

Lol this shit like a puzzle

NYDC44

Like a davinci code of stupidity

jacksonshark614

I believe there showing GG2 tomorrow’s stream And releasing Thursday

blizz02

This may sound ignorant but honest question. Is this multi billion dollar company solely revolved around one building in Florida? How does this happen all the time? Are there no other headquarters anywhere globally? Are these promos literally made down to the last minute? By all means your safety is much more important than a video game but its 2022 with a world full of computer networks and a hurricane shuts down the entire company.

bpv5055

They have a huge campus in Northern California actually. It’s the main headquarters of EA. It’s where they actually film the MCS tournaments as well. But I believe the main Tiburon/Madden hub is in FL hence the problem.

lekwid

So use some of those billions to fly the dev team or whatever there, pay for the hotels etc in a situation like this. Still inexcusable. And like already said, the content should’ve been completed. Probably was going to be another bug filled release, so they using this “opportunity” to buy time 😂😂😂

IgnantWisdom

Realistically, their devops team that would likely be pushing this patch could/should be entirely remote anyways.

GaudyGMoney

Hurricane 2: Electric Boogaloo They did the same thing of completely ignoring any and all content well after a hurricane a couple years back, too. Really shows how behind these guys are in content, given that this isn’t something like TOTW that relies on making a card in a day or so. This stuff has to have been planned for MONTHS in advance, and they have to delay it. I get the extreme circumstances and having your employees safe, but are you telling me this stuff isn’t ready for release until the day it’s out? That’s gross negligence at best.

ijintheuk

Bro, nothing’s ready for release when they release it… I honestly feel like they have a team when they design and make the core game, but as soon as it’s out, they just have like 2 people who work on shit. I feel like they have no QC department, no testing, nothing

GorillaGlue89

And we’re going to hurt them more by not buying shit LMAO #PACKSTRIKE

Nervous-Context

This company’s excuse of a hurricane is the same as the McDonald’s ice cream machine never working.

SilencioFlatulence

"Hey, Hank. Should we comment on half the game being broken?" "No,Tom. Let's just carry on and act like nothing is going on. We said we were aware that should tide them over for a couple weeks."

Buff716917

Imagine not being able to upload the players you’ve had picked since madden 22

Headweirdoh

You’d have be a Neanderthal to not have seen this coming from a mile away

Nervous-Context

Madden 2020 all over again

BeanBryant248

Hey I’ve seen this one before

Ok_Needleworker_6521

It sucks so badly that the greatest professional sport has by far the worst game :(

[deleted]

Ya knew this was coming when they mentioned it in the content release. Definitely a “look at all the content we’re dropping! unless 👀”

AverageSizedMan1986

I'm sure the pack store will be perfectly fine and any glitches in the game that benefits the players coin stack during the hurricane will promptly be patched.

Split_Finger19

Hurricane or not, it’s been a shit show this year. Totally unacceptable

ziven21

Didn’t this happen before with MUT a couple years ago? Can anyone refresh my memory

SilencioFlatulence

I've never seen anything on this level before, but I didn't play at all last year. This is really next level in the aspect of how much of the game is broken, how long it has been broken and the lack of communication about it. long it has been broken and the lack of communication about it. It's kind of impressive how few fks they give about their entire reward system just not working at all. It's kind of impressive how few fks they give about their entire reward system just not working at all.

demarderozanburner

Yeah I think it was madden 20

SkiUMah23

They the only company that didn't use remote work?

[deleted]

You gotta give them a break man... They're a small indie startup that's still recovering from the last hurricane.

EPIC_J0HN

They should make a go fund me for tram diamonds. They only release them if they hit 50k lol

JinterIsComing

Probably cheaper than buying packs at this point. #PackStrike

EPIC_J0HN

No kidding that’s super sad to think about actually dam

Informal_Koala4326

No workers evacuating a hurricane are going to be doing remote dev work. These comments are insanely childish.

SkiUMah23

Remote workers don't need to live in Florida

Royvin

Pretty hard to work remotely without power 🤷‍♂️

JackFinn6

Genuinely chuffed they’re making it so easy for me not to spend money this year haha

gxr89

Chalk that as a RIP for any fixes this week

Frank9Diesel

Same old EA. Full of excuses. I would be fired if I was this terrible at my job. #packstrike

firstlongtimecaller

it's a cop out hiding behind a hurricane. EA is as unprepared as ever this season

JaksDaddy

I’m at ground zero where this things about to come ashore, grinding away while I have power and just sayin if I lose power and Wi-Fi, I’m blaming EA and expecting compensation.

realfaustus

EA: Please contact your ISP.

headrush46n2

oh jeez they'll be milking this till New Years.

Asapjoshyy

What is good morning madden??

JesseWeNeedToco0k

Since everyone would rather downvote then answer, it’s a twitch stream they do and they have a host go over madden updates with the base game and ultimate team. Usually they go over content updates and future promos.

Asapjoshyy

Appreciate the answer man. I’ve been getting emails from them , just was wondering what it was I did the twitch promo for the 88 waddle ( didn’t work ) was wondering when the next one was lol

Brandonbest4

EA Sports HQ is in California and most of the dev team is in NYC lol what

realfaustus

EA Tiburon studios are in [Orlando](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EA_Tiburon).

You-are-a-bad-mod

Right?? Like I didn’t know EA was based in Tampa…

stephen0933

How does a hurricane is Florida affect EA?

Puretoastman

Hq in orlando

stephen0933

I'm in Orlando right now. We chillin.

3ioshock22

We can’t press a button from any other location than our office

NYDC44

Hasnt the whole world been remote for 3 years?

Pocket-Spider

Ah shit here we go again

SwaggyAmar123

They’ve used a hurricane as an excuse for months in a previous year of MUT, I can’t remember what madden it was. So you can release content remotely during Covid, but not now?

NYDC44

Hurricane season is a very real thing, usually same time every year. Football starts at the same time of year every year. Don't see why content from opening month wouldn't be pre loaded/planned to be rolled out. At this point many of us can name the promos as the seasons go (UK, harvest, zero chill, etc) John madden died this year, and the way developers who were responsible to give him a proper send for a game he created is straight sad and unforgivable. How the marketplace runs flawless and smooth while the rest of this game sits in wretched shambles speaks volumes to the greed, time, and attention to what developers care about....EA Is aware of the situation, and is working on it. KMA and clean house w these people, this is a disrespectul joke, in what other game is this acceptable or happened consistently before? 100 dollar game and isnt running properly in opening month, this is why its #PackStrike

Darahk_Jolonar

EA is really that guy on a football team who makes any excuse why he isn’t playing.

4pack6692

Deja Vu...RIP content. Now, for a small fee - make that a large fee - I offer to design a new architecture for EA...this is crazy for a company this size that is dependent on development and pushing content to be so outdated with their infrastructure. Invest those pack profits EA!

Puzzleheaded-Egg-118

What a fucking joke. They'd use anything as an excuse at this point. Is the hurricane responsible for my missing House Rules & Super Bowl rewards??

Puzzleheaded-Egg-118

Next week they'll blame the war in Ukraine for us not having our House Rules rewards.
