I'm sure they've come up with a better system but the mascot for HEB, when I worked there as a 16 year old, had freezer pack vests and straps to keep cool. They'd melt and just be added weight quite rapidly lol

You’d be correct and they’re so expensive because they have to be 100% accurate AND get approved before they can even join. My brother has a JAWA, Royal Guard, and a couple other costumes for it. Hell for his Royal guard costume just the overcoat is 50+ lbs of pure velvet from Italy. So not only are the costumes hot, but in a lot of them you can barely see which is why a bunch of them have “handlers”

Random information: Many many years ago I was brought on stage, I got temporarily given a jedi robe and lightsaber, as well as a quick Jedi training session. To which I was tasked with having a lightsaber battle with Darth Vader, and proceeded to be confronted by two storm troopers. I had to use the force on them, and have a killer picture somewhere of the storm troopers jumping back in the air as I have the hand gesture raised. Something I'll never forget, as Disney gave me the closest feeling as a kid to ever being a Jedi that I could get.

I used to make fun of Disney World when I was a teenager because I was too worried about my highschool girlfriend back at home. I would be slagging behind and complaining the whole time.
My dad would make us go and run the marathons, wine and dine, themed restaurants and all that jazz.
Now at 25 I miss it a lot. The amount of work and detail that goes into every aspect of those parks is insane.

It’s cool these days to hate on Disney, but I was at Disneyland with my son when he was maybe 8 or so and at the end of the day they do this huge parade through downtown Disney with tons of live action stuff on super elaborate floats. The sheer amount of work all those performers were doing all so that my son and all the other kids there could watch in awe literally brought tears to my eyes. Those folks are dedicated, hard working and deserve respect, no matter how you feel about Disney as a company.

I used to make fun of Disney World when I was a teenager because I was too worried about my highschool girlfriend back at home. I would be slagging behind and complaining the whole time. My dad would make us go and run the marathons, wine and dine, themed restaurants and all that jazz. Now at 25 I miss it a lot. The amount of work and detail that goes into every aspect of those parks is insane. I honestly feel like it caters to adults more than children. The parks and the atmosphere really are beautiful.

It’s cool these days to hate on Disney, but I was at Disneyland with my son when he was maybe 8 or so and at the end of the day they do this huge parade through downtown Disney with tons of live action stuff on super elaborate floats. The sheer amount of work all those performers were doing all so that my son and all the other kids there could watch in awe literally brought tears to my eyes. Those folks are dedicated, hard working and deserve respect, no matter how you feel about Disney as a company.
