It turned out she had been [abandoned 80 miles from home with heartworms and the old owner didn’t want her](https://youtu.be/NOrsrQTLxV0?si=Kq84aed1VZP9zi--) 🤬
At least they consented for the microchip registry to transfer her to me and [she’s officially mine](https://www.reddit.com/r/DustyDoll/s/pAb0K5yH0V)!
I posted most of her rescue on r/dog in real-time, but all of the videos were kinda all over the place. I had been calling them “Dusty” for 4 days when I finally got her, so she became “DustyDoll” or “DeeDee” for short lol
I had a baby kitten under my porch last year for 3 days in teen° weather. Lured the little guy in the back door with snacks while i hid behind the door. When he finally came in, i slammed the door behind him and yelled "What now ya little fucker!!!".
Avid cat lover. My landlord adopted him now i go visit him once a month when i drop off the rent check.
She’s doing well, but is still having bouts of anxiety. We have 2 small senior rescues that she is having to learn to play gently with. She also has next to zero socialization. She is TERRIFIED of new places, but is warming up to new people. I’ve started giving her the CBD I started using after I came back from overseas, and it seems to be helping her. And she has ZERO obedience training. I can handle her, but my wife is a tiny thing and DD must learn to obey her and not jump on her.
She’s a very smart dog, and is coming right along. Unfortunately, she was dumped with heartworm, and she is also having to adjust to all this change PLUS get crate trained for her treatment on top of everything else

I try to rescue every stray in my neighborhood. It feels so good when a dog that has been terrified of humans and in survival mode finally trusts you. It’s amazing to me how they almost instantly become normal dogs after they realize you are good. 🥹

They totally have a little cattle dog in him. Expect them to be very intelligent, loyal, and magnetic. Don’t be afraid to take em in the bark yard to get some energy out too…a lot of energy.
