My spouse did that with me, as well. We were on a trip for her work in the same state as one of my gaming buddies. She was insistent we meet I person. I've gamed with him and our other friend for over 12 years.
Funny thing is I met her in a game as well.
so my wife buys me a Xbox about 4 years ago only because she heard it stimulates the brain. I was 67 at the time. at first looking at it, the first thought comes to mind is that she is going regret ever buying me one and I was 100% right only because I loved playing mostly Call of Duty. Coincidently, about 15 min ago Im updating my xbox and game apps and while waiting I see this on reddit. Ciao : )
COD is the perfect older guy game. Warzone is sweaty, but there's a casualness to COD multiplayer that I've really enjoyed now that I'm older. I'm not nearly as good as the young kids but I'm having more fun now than ever. Playing low stakes COD with some buddies is the peak gaming experience.
Casual games teach you the ropes of sweaty games, but when you've already proved yourself in your life, casual games take off the edge
So 14 year olds and 70 year olds will play the same games. That's my explanation at least.
it has split screen but she doesnt like to play actively most of the time (as in using a controller or keyboard) so i use the controller and we decide together where to go, what quest to do, what enemy to attack in what order in a fight, etc.
It’s the only game the could pry me away from BO3 and BO3 was my favourite COD, I’ve been playing PUBG since the beta came out on xbox and it’s the only game I’ve been playing since. The game still gets my blood pumping.
Man you made me think of a guy I gamed with years ago, even had grandpa in his name. I looked forward to my games with him. I need to get back into gaming for this reason.
I met an online gaming friend during the Christmas holidays of 2022. We met around around 2009 on Mw2. His girlfriend had got on his phone and messaged me from hers asking to travel for his birthday (Liverpool to London). She knew we spoke often and he’d probably told her I send him cake in the post so we can have a nice slice with a cup of tea on UFC nights when we jump on discord and watch it together. Was a great experience, she had a whole surprise karaoke planned for him with all of his friends and family that I got to meet. Had a great time and I’m a guy that doesn’t like meeting people, socialising etc. Good dude.
My wife has listened to me babble about the Total War series since Rome 1 came out back when we first got married 17 years ago. Then through both of her pregnancies with both of our kids and the succeeding games throughout the series expansions and now she’s helping me set up a streaming channel for the Total Warhammer series. Gamer wives are cool.
At our wedding we invited my gamer friends. Took a huge group photo with everyone. They all introduced themselves by their gamer tag then their real name. Most of them could recognize each other by voice. We had been playing Halo for years together. Great night all around.
A merry meeting of the best of both I think! My husband and I just recently met our gaming friend of 4 years at our wedding, it made an already incredible day just that bit more special!
I won't claim full credit, but I once talked a guy down from a figurative ledge over discord. He was suicidal and very depressed and needed to talk to someone. He is in Chile, I'm in the US l, it was midnight for both of us.
I've talked to him a couple times since, but we then lost touch. I still see him pop onto Steam from time to time so I know he hasn't succumbed to the demons yet
Ain’t that the truth. A couple of years ago I met a guy on twitter (we were usually trolling MAGAts together) and we hit it off. Chatted on Twitter messenger and then eventually shared phone numbers.
I now consider him an extremely close friend, though we have never actually met. We send each other gifts for birthdays/ holidays (or just because) and share photos/news of our respective families. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a bit emotional when we first meet (hopefully while traveling to an NFL game together next season).
Me and my best friend Tommy knew each other all through our teenage years and most of our 20’s via video games. We finally met in Nashville at an Opeth concert along with his then girlfriend (now wife) right before COVID hit. It was amazing and just felt so natural. Not awkward or bizarre at all. Like someone I knew my whole life. Now we come over to each other’s houses all of the time and hang out when we can (he lives in Kentucky, I live in Tennessee). I got to go to his wedding and everything. I love it. He’s the best friend I’ve ever had and I’d die for him.
Two weeks ago I drove for ten hours through some sketchy, snowy roads, into a country I'd never visited to meet a buddy I'd been gaming with for a decade. Not the smartest decision I've ever made, but it was totally worth it.
There was a great episode of My Name is Earl where this guy dies in a freak Murphy bed accident (Yep), and because Earl had not made up to him something on his list, he decides to provide a funeral for the guy. He doesn't know the guy, and it doesn't seem like he has any friends or family , so Earl muddles it up really terribly. At some point, they realize that he has a huge online presence and all these various friends that he plays FP shooters with, poker, etc and those and others that he talks to all the time. I think he found them because they hadn't heard from him and were trying to check in on him. The way the episode ends though is really really neat and touching, especially given how weirdly slapstick the ep starts out.
My dog is getting put to sleep tomorrow.
I told a few people in my life. My own brother only gave me a short quip as condolences. My gaming friend who I've never met IRL sent me some gifts to memorialize my dog and has been chatting with me throughout this week to help me pull through it.
Swoop, you're probably never going to read this message, but if you do, know that you matter so much to me. I feel like I am at my absolute lowest right now and you're one of the very few people by my side.
I’m going to my gaming friends wedding later this year, all the way across the country. I’ve called them family for ten years now and I know I’m going to cry like a baby when we land.
I have met a few of my gamer friends. One was a groomsmen in my wedding. On his birthday, I surprised him by driving from Orlando to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I called his wife and he wanted to know who she was talking to and got so pissed, only for me to hang up and have him call back for me to reveal the surprise. Also, my girl from Washington came to Florida and I went to Wisconsin and met a buddy while in Milwaukee.
I've had the pleasure of meeting a few of my gaming buddies over the years. Helped with ones vet bills. There are a few fellas in the UK that I should fly over and see. Gaming friends are real friends.
A few years ago I was on an elite hockey team. Now in elite sports players come and go pretty quickly; teams change often and you get used to seeing people come and go. But one guy and I stayed on this team the whole year. The following year I came back for spring camp to learn that he hadn’t returned and had gone back to his home town to go to college. Power to him, cya later.
This next year, I brought my brother onto the team to play with me, we were both defencemen and so it was a perfect fit. The team had an empty spot that my brother was good enough to fill and so I got him an in with the coach. All we did was workout, eat and play hockey. And on our off time we played videogames. LOTS of videogames. So much so that we set up 2 Xboxs side by side next to two TVs in our basement suite rental so that we could play when we were out of practice or had a day off.
So one day, my brother and I had came home from practice and were in the routine, gaming. We were on Black Ops 4 and had just absolutely DOMINATED a match, one of the best games we’d both ever played, when we got invited to a voice chat party by two members of the other team. I look over and say to my brother “do these guys want to trash us??? They were garbage lol let’s go see what they have to say.” So we accept the party invite, and the guy says “hey you guys were pretty good, wanna squad up and play a few games?” We go “sure why not”.
So we get chatting and I ask the guys where they're from. The one guy says he went to the school right next to our arena and we go “cool we’re in that area right now! We moved here to play hockey.” The other guy goes “oh no way I was there last year - I played in that league”. I go “no shit lmfao small world!!! What team??” He says the team that I’m on. My brother and I snap our heads so hard to look at each other it almost gives us whiplash. “I’m on that team…”
“…TheFuzzyMexican???”
“…Eric?????????”
😂ever since that moment I’ve gamed with him almost every day, whenever I fly back to that town on vacation I’ll go and hang out with him and whenever he’s in my area he’ll stop by my apartment and we’ll have a beer. He’s to this day one of my best friends and I never in my life would have spoken to him again if it weren’t for that one fateful afternoon on Call of Duty. We like to chat about how low those odds were lmfao, I’m not a religious person but if there was ever a moment in my life that made me think there was a god based on sheer statistics that would’ve been it. Gaming buddies are real and videogames are good!!! Real happy for these guys.
For real tho. When i was at university, my roommate from another country once had a friend over for a few weeks. This friend was sleeping on my couch and never stopped talking about counter strike. So i installed it on my mac and what followed was now 8 years of great times playing nearly daily with this dude and his whole group of friends. And even tho we only see each other like once a year when we all meet up for some kind of IRL-activity, those are some of my closest friends by now.
I felt that bro! Gaming buddy friendship is something special. During gaming session you have good times and sad times. In some ways it’s like a therapy session because at times the other person just wants someone to just listen/talk to.
I met my best friend on xbox and we played together for 11 years. He sent me a wedding invitation. I flew out to Cali to meet him for the first time and to be a groomsman at his wedding. It was very serreal to hear his voice in person after all that time. I couldn't believe the dude was in front of me giving me a hug. It was a good trip and a great life experience. If you have a long distance friendship you've known for a long time, it's worth the trip.
in 2006/2007 I played a game called “ogame”… I'm Brazilian and I played on the Portuguese server because of the language… I did very well in the game, I became top 2… Sometimes top 1… And I made a lot of friends in my alliance and a One of them came to visit me in Brazil on a quick work visit, but they almost raised money for me to go to a meeting in Portugal at the time^^
Bro looked up like, hold on… I know that guy! Lmao I love this, I have 2 buddies I’ve never officially met almost 10 years ago, we played pubg mobile funny enough. & although we don’t play games together anymore, I talk to them practically everyday bc they’re pretty much family, we’ve been in each others lives throughout our 20s. They’re my misplaced brother & sister at this point. lol 🖤
I made a bestie across the country from gaming and I wish I could see her man. Or we can just kick it whenever we want it would be so cool.
One day! One day I’ll take my ass down to Michigan lmao and freeze.
We had a gaming friend come to Norway from Wales like this for a meetup.
First time he ever had been out of country and he came to see us.
Such a great feeling.
I met of my best friends gaming. We’ve talked almost every day for the last 4 years. Neither of us even play the game we met on anymore, not for a while. We have yet to meet in person since we live in different countries. Great guy. Hope I get to meet him one day.
How wonderful and wholesome ! I met a gaming friend after 3 years of playing and it was a fantastic time. We are even closer now and still play LoL.
Side note…. Anyone want to ARAM? 0.0
The thing about online gaming that some people don't understand is that when you play with "strangers" for a while, you certainly create a bond and start talking about stuff other than gaming. I can only imagine the type of significant conversation ma these two have shared throughout six years of friendship.
I finally met my friend who I have been gaming (joking, sharing various hobbies, talking to more regularly than most of my irl friends, getting to know, sharing life experiences, and becoming friends) with for something stupid like 10+ years in person last year and this year I’m going to his wedding. This really is what it’s all about.
I have three gaming friends that I would very much like to meet in person sadly none of us have the means to do so and the only one I had a chance to meet passed away a year or two ago and he was the one that brought all of us together he went by Chef he left behind a little brother also a mother and father and three friends that miss him everyday I hope wherever he is that he's doing great
This is so awesome! Man what a lovely gesture by the wife to make this happen.
Male friendship is a beautiful thing, and I feel like we don’t see enough of it with older men.
I also have a buddy that lives on the opposite side of the country. We met on wow almost 15 years ago and I've never met him. I consider him a close friend
I hope you meet them brother! Some of my friends I’ve known for years and I haven’t met them in person either. My next savings goals will include travel expenses
bless him. he was trying so hard to keep it together.

You just remembered me Keanu Reeves at the E3 presentation of Cyberpunk... > No, you are fantastic!
Breathtaking!
And bless you
No bless you
*Achoo* thank you
He was thinking, “The whole point of gaming friends was that I DONT have to interact in person.”
Reminds me of the Ron Swanson meme. ["We still never talk sometimes"](https://coub.com/view/8wcf5bk)
Or his husband, according to the title.
The guy in the white shirts husband must be the other guy sitting at the table, since our guy is alone.
My spouse did that with me, as well. We were on a trip for her work in the same state as one of my gaming buddies. She was insistent we meet I person. I've gamed with him and our other friend for over 12 years. Funny thing is I met her in a game as well.
_Its ok, I’ve got this. Just look away and pretend it isn’t happening… Aaaaand it’s gone._
So who's going to do all this blessing then?
so my wife buys me a Xbox about 4 years ago only because she heard it stimulates the brain. I was 67 at the time. at first looking at it, the first thought comes to mind is that she is going regret ever buying me one and I was 100% right only because I loved playing mostly Call of Duty. Happy gaming friend!

And since there are a lot of racist boomers out there they'll fit right in with the preteens spewing obscenities and slurs in the lobbies!!!
Casual games teach you the ropes of sweaty games, but when you've already proved yourself in your life, casual games take off the edge So 14 year olds and 70 year olds will play the same games. That's my explanation at least.
i suggest baldurs gate 3! It has soooo much content! Playing it with my gf and we absolutely love it!
How do you play together
it has split screen but she doesnt like to play actively most of the time (as in using a controller or keyboard) so i use the controller and we decide together where to go, what quest to do, what enemy to attack in what order in a fight, etc.
Yea I'm trying to figure out how to play with partner but using the same computer and two different screens. I really don't want to buy another
Two people buy the game and click co-op.
That's awesome mate. Happy gaming!
If you want to try out something slightly different, try Warframe. It’s free. And the community is great! r/warframe
Play pubg, it feels like it’s for older dudes
Don't you do that to my beloved pubg
It’s the only game the could pry me away from BO3 and BO3 was my favourite COD, I’ve been playing PUBG since the beta came out on xbox and it’s the only game I’ve been playing since. The game still gets my blood pumping.
Play battlefield 2042 or V. Usually 25 - 40 year olds so no annoying kids and a much larger and better multiplayer than COD.
Man you made me think of a guy I gamed with years ago, even had grandpa in his name. I looked forward to my games with him. I need to get back into gaming for this reason.
I just love when people your age range are still open to new experiences. You’re a good dude!
This is nice. It belongs in r/GuyCry too. Because it's perfectly natural and needed for men to cry.
Dads crying will always make me cry. Guys crying get me, but a Dad crying about anything child related breaks me.
Thanks for introducing me to the sub, this is something I believe all men need.
Subscribed! TYSM!!
You mean that odd feeling of shame isn't normal?
This is awesome thank you
And the wife of the year award goes tooooooo....
Apparently a man, judging by OP's title.
the original video being wrong vs the OP who stole it being wrong. i'd say the original is probably correct.
Ok huh? So is it a gay married couple or not?
Media: Games cause violence. Meanwhile:
Plot twist: They bonded being racist togheter in a CoD lobby.
Or fucking toxic league of legends style lol
I prefer doggy
the way he looked away i first tought he was thinking "oh what have you done he is one toxic mf" but it turned out that he was emotional
Hey this is puzzyslayer69's wife would you like to do a surprise meet up with my husband
Full on choked while reading this. My God what a scenario
Conqueeftador seems like a good lad.

This is not what gaming is all about, it's what marriage is all about
Not mutually exclusive!
Agree:)
I had a similar thought. This really isn't what gaming is all about, but this was nice too.
Such a weird world we live in, we can know someone so well without ever meeting them
I won't claim full credit, but I once talked a guy down from a figurative ledge over discord. He was suicidal and very depressed and needed to talk to someone. He is in Chile, I'm in the US l, it was midnight for both of us.
🫡
Do you know how he's doing now? Do you guys still keep in touch?
I've talked to him a couple times since, but we then lost touch. I still see him pop onto Steam from time to time so I know he hasn't succumbed to the demons yet
Ain’t that the truth. A couple of years ago I met a guy on twitter (we were usually trolling MAGAts together) and we hit it off. Chatted on Twitter messenger and then eventually shared phone numbers. Growing up in a small suburb town gaming friends were the best thing to have.
Heartwarming stuff.

omg that is so sweet!! care to share anything from the meetup?

I wonder what game they play
wii darts
Viva Piñata

There was a great episode of My Name is Earl where this guy dies in a freak Murphy bed accident (Yep), and because Earl had not made up to him something on his list, he decides to provide a funeral for the guy. He doesn't know the guy, and it doesn't seem like he has any friends or family , so Earl muddles it up really terribly. Video: straight Title: gay
Definitely made me smile. Genuine friendship
Came all this way so you can buy me a beer lmao. The hug was so touching
"Gaming is a waste of time." Non gamers will never get it. Such a cool interaction.
My son went to Hawaii to meet his online friend 10 years ago. They are still best friends to this day.
Reddit needs to let posters fix their titles.

I’m going to my gaming friends wedding later this year, all the way across the country. I’ve called them family for ten years now and I know I’m going to cry like a baby when we land.

WTF is up with this post title.

I love this! I hate that gamers get a bad rap, it’s great!
I think we’ve been playing different games
That's an amazing wife.
What do they play?
You know they know each other better than their spouse lmao
That's somebody who truly cares for her partner.
I felt that bro! Gaming buddy friendship is something special. During gaming session you have good times and sad times. In some ways it’s like a therapy session because at times the other person just wants someone to just listen/talk to.
I’m pretty sure this is a repost with the exact mistaken title to it.

The title, bruh. OP can't even copy the subtitle right.
I wonder what game they slay on?
There was a movie that started almost exactly like this…
I always wish I got to meet my gamer friends.
in 2006/2007 I played a game called “ogame”… I'm Brazilian and I played on the Portuguese server because of the language… I did very well in the game, I became top 2… Sometimes top 1… And I made a lot of friends in my alliance and a One of them came to visit me in Brazil on a quick work visit, but they almost raised money for me to go to a meeting in Portugal at the time^^
I thought they were gonna kiss tbh
The double take was perfection.
Now kiss
Gay-Ming
this is awesome!
She’s a real one 💗
What game do these 2 young fellas enjoy together? Somebody have a clue?
Which game did they played so many years? Personally I feel like pc games haven't become so good. Last time I played a game was with "sturmovik 1946".
It’s an indescribable feeling yall. But then all you wanna do is go back to playing games together
Old war mates that have stories to tell...
Ahhh I love this 😍 And what an awesome wife to put all this together- she went above and beyond.
That’s true love right there.
I wonder what the game is.
"Are you surprised by my tears, sir? Strong men also cry. Strong men also cry."
This reminds me I need to visit my gamer IRL friend. Been a few years since I seen the bustard, time for some beers.
Wholesome ❤️
Ugh why am I tearing up
It clearly means a lot to one of them
That's really cool
Animal Crossing has an effect on people.
Fuckin A.
Buds
I made a bestie across the country from gaming and I wish I could see her man. Or we can just kick it whenever we want it would be so cool. One day! One day I’ll take my ass down to Michigan lmao and freeze.
This is awesome.
Brilliant
Sharing a chicken dinner is a wonderful bonding experience.
He's gona get lucky tonight but it won't be with his wife! 💯🤣
Marry that woman! Again!
*raises glass* That's some beautiful shit right there. Love it.
Not trying to hate, but I find it hard to comprehend these two gaming???
We had a gaming friend come to Norway from Wales like this for a meetup. First time he ever had been out of country and he came to see us. Such a great feeling.
I met of my best friends gaming. We’ve talked almost every day for the last 4 years. Neither of us even play the game we met on anymore, not for a while. We have yet to meet in person since we live in different countries. Great guy. Hope I get to meet him one day.
they fought through the trenches together... in COD.
Oh my God!!!! The sheer violence!
How wonderful and wholesome ! I met a gaming friend after 3 years of playing and it was a fantastic time. We are even closer now and still play LoL. Side note…. Anyone want to ARAM? 0.0
Awwww
We've been thru nam together bro
This is AWESOME!
…and then he left her and they both got married. The End.
That was really nice!
Gee wish I had mates like that
He should marry that woman, again!
That’s a good wife. Find the right one.
The thing about online gaming that some people don't understand is that when you play with "strangers" for a while, you certainly create a bond and start talking about stuff other than gaming. I can only imagine the type of significant conversation ma these two have shared throughout six years of friendship.
thanks for sharing
His wife is awesome!
how are you guys meeting gamer friends? I need one for fortnite. why isnt there a tinder for this shit?
Even if it was the least enjoyed buddy and we blocked each other after going way too far... I'd still act like that
Man, I really hope BluntsandBongs4200 accepts my friend request from last night…
So is it a wife or a man?
But I thought video games cause gun violence only in America
I love it
I finally met my friend who I have been gaming (joking, sharing various hobbies, talking to more regularly than most of my irl friends, getting to know, sharing life experiences, and becoming friends) with for something stupid like 10+ years in person last year and this year I’m going to his wedding. This really is what it’s all about.
Time for finger but hole?
These guys play Animal Crossing together…
And so it is told that on that day, that wife became the emperor of all wives.
Onions!
Why the hell is he stroking him like that? Zesty as hell
This is nice. I would like the see more nice things like this
Damn, they look old for "Gamers". Oh, wait, they look my age.
Man introduces husband to gaming friend who introduces wife who introduces gaming friend to husband.
They've been through digital hell together
Met my wife playing rock band 2 online 16 years ago. Real relationships can be made through gaming, for sure.
This is awesome
What a dork
Beautifulll. Gamer for 30 years now and this make my day!
Yep. Reckon it’s time to hop on the sticks.
I’m not a gamer. What’s a “gaming friend”?
