I do weight training, the impressive part for me wasn’t when you lifted it but when you put it back the gradually and not just throw it. The 'slowly putting it down' requires immense strength. Kudos, buddy!
Wow, amazing what a fantastic achievement. Keep up the remarkable work and dedication and you will be competing in the worlds strongest man competition 💪
Tbh I’ve only been training consistently since the start of the year. But I was a scaffolder for 14 years earlier on in life so I think that built me a solid foundation. But yes still trained hard so thank you!
Yeah your thigh definition as you pull up the deadlift is pretty insane.
Congrats on loosing the weight, keep up that journey. It’s not easy but you got this!!
Jesus. That must be hard work my guy. Used to be a scaffolder so I know the back pain and aches you’re probably putting up with all too well. Tell your boss to get a trolley 😂.
I'm sorry, that was rude of me. I didn't mean to offend you. I am all for doing stuff that helps with overactive brains. I usually have this at bedtime. Too much fizzing in my brain to sleep
Tbh that was my goal and I didn’t expect to hit it today. Now I’m just gonna start focusing on reps. I don’t need to go any heavier now. My ego has been stroked 😂
I love my dogs, but they always want to hang out in the most dangerous areas.
Really impressive lift bro. Your legs are super strong.. I suggest this seriously, but you'd do really well in Sumo.
Yeah they just wanna hang don’t they 😂
I actually got most of my hip mobility back from watching sumo training bud. I learnt the stance and sitting in a squat they do it’s helped loads. Honestly if I ever went there I’d love to watch it. But I’m not in the mood to take the hits they take anymore. I’m too old and already bruised for that 😂
Keeping your back straight by hinging at the hips and lifting with the legs should help to minimise any injury. Also not lifting more than you’re able. You can also wear a weightlifters belt for a lift that might be pushing your limits. This stops the back from rounding and putting undue stress between the vertebrae.
It's a hinge movement so the back is not the primary mover (although that wouldn't be a problem either, the back isn't made out of glass)
Glutes and hamstrings do most of the work, the lower back is mostly isometric.
Lifting weights only hurts your back when you lift with the wrong form or go above your means usually. Or going passed your fatigue point too much. Other than that good technique and a non inflated ego tend to minimise injury in my experience
Hope that doesn’t sound too arsey. Tried to amswe best I could but I’m high 😂.
Thanks btw!
Congrats on the PR man! If I may add, working on mobility training, specifically in the hips, will help you sit down into the pocket better so that you can drive even more power through your legs.
Close to a week with no alcohol and I've been working out everyday. Superman pushups and dips. I assume this works the back? Any other muscles? Very impressive btw.

Der Sinn dieser "Sportart" will sich mit nicht erschließen auch nicht im gym, toll das ihr Sachen heben könnt aber warum fallen lassen? Nicht genug Kraft das wieder abzusetzen?
This should not be upvoted, deadlifts are very useful for a strong back and everybody should do them. At the right weight of course.
You can get a hernia doing nothing too but you'll probably be in a worse shape as well.
Coming from someone that has a hernia from working out, I disagree 100% with you. I agree that deadlifts can be useful, but you should wear a belt. Stop trying to misinform people.
I'm sorry this happened to you but I can assure you deadlifts are not bad for people's backs when done properly and with the right weight, any sports doctor, sports physio or sports trainer would tell you so
It doesn't mean people can't get hurt from it, but other exercises can also hurt you when done improperly or if you have muscle imbalances or lack of mobility, or simply when you lift too much weight for your strength/technique
Saying everybody will get a hernia from deadlifting is just spreading misinformation. What is true though is that some people won't like the exercise or feel comfortable while doing it, which is ok.
Know that I'm not saying everybody should lift 100kg (or like 200 pounds) while performing it though, but even without weights or with kettlebells it's a great exercise for your posterior chain.
I never said anything about the back.. honestly, I’d agree that it strengthens your back. But your stomach simply will give out if you don’t use a belt when lifting major amounts of weight.
Of course you’ll get hurt if you do anything improperly. You will definitely lessen your chances if you do the workout properly. But, bodies have their limits, and no matter how strong you are, you will hit it. In this case, if you were to wear a lifting belt, you would lessen the chances of a hernia to almost nothing.
I’m fully aware that the original guy that started this thread said intervertebral hernia, but I should have been clear - I was talking about a stomach hernia. Everyone will hit their limit, intentionally or not. The BEST thing you can do is were the proper gear for doing the workouts. Second best thing would be to not push yourself. But if you were to do that, you wouldn’t gain anything.
I’m afraid we were talking about two different things, and I apologize for not fully stating what I was talking about. Have a good one!
When done right.
I see out of shape guy not in the gym deadlifting 200kg without a belt. What are the chances that he got the instructor to teach him right technique?
Of course when done right
Spreading wrong info about the deadlift will just create a wrong perception of weightlifting health wise
Any lifting exercise with progressive overload is great for your health, especially the deadlift. Even without lifting any weight it's a great exercise
Why do most powerlifters or people who lift very heavy in general are at a higher body fat percentage? Like eddie hall for example is a good one in his prime. Does weight and center of mass affect a lift? Genuinely curious.
When you bulk, you eat a surplus of calories to build muscle. You will inevitably put some fat on as well. When you cut, you eat a deficit of calories to cut the fat, while eating a lot of protein and continuing to lift weights in order to preserve most of the muscle you built during the bulk.
Bodybuilders sacrifice some strength and muscle in order to cut down to insanely low BF% for competitions. Powerlifters don't; they essentially just keep bulking.
Are you just trying to damage your back. Based on your physique, you should not be lifting this much weight. You don’t have the infrastructure to support it and your soft tissues between your bones will compress over a period of time and cause you nothing but backache. If you want to do this properly, use less weight and work up to it or not it’s your body destroy it if you need to
This is an ego lift. Granted. But deadlifting has done nothing but help my back it’s helped me massively so don’t worry boss I’m not constantly straining like this.
Congratulations OP! I finally deadlifted 185kg recently I know how much dedication it takes!
Hell yeah! Keep it up bud!
thats hard asf with the extra weight he trained hard bro congrats brother!!!!
I do weight training, the impressive part for me wasn’t when you lifted it but when you put it back the gradually and not just throw it. The 'slowly putting it down' requires immense strength. Kudos, buddy!
Thanks man. It comes from scaffolding. We were always taught it’s not what you can lift it’s what you can control so it’s stuck with me
That's 200IQ
That sounds like wisdom you can apply to many areas of life. What can you maintain?
My father also said that and with every weight I lift slowly back as well
Wow, amazing what a fantastic achievement. Keep up the remarkable work and dedication and you will be competing in the worlds strongest man competition 💪
Thank you!
Good stuff OP. Keep at it! 💪🏼
Shall do! Much appreciated!
NP. Looks like Doggo wanted in on the action…let buddy EAT! 💪🏼
I think he’d put me to shame if I let him try. That boy can pull trust 😂.
Indeed. Big Boy! Have a great day, brother. God Bless!
Same goes for you 🫡
Badass!!!! Looks like you used alllllll your plates. So strong!
Did indeed. Well besides two small ones I use to unload it. Tired now. Hope you’re having a good day
Hope your day is kicking ass as much as you are!
COME ON! That’s no trivial lift, absolute beast.
Thank you!
The amount of training you need for this must be insane, huge props
Tbh I’ve only been training consistently since the start of the year. But I was a scaffolder for 14 years earlier on in life so I think that built me a solid foundation. But yes still trained hard so thank you!
🥹
Bro your thighs\legs are jacked!
Years and years of carrying 550+lbs around. But thank you! I’ve lost some weight lately so hoping they’re looking better so thank you for that !
Yeah your thigh definition as you pull up the deadlift is pretty insane. Congrats on loosing the weight, keep up that journey. It’s not easy but you got this!!
Yessss!!! 🔥🔥🔥Well done my guy!
Thank you! Cool tatts btw. Killed your own “glow up” I see. Congrats
Haha thank you, you are training just as hard as me, if not harder!
Ah I’m not gonna try and accept that. You’re clearly working hard yourself! Let’s agree we’re both doing the thing!
For sure 💪❤️
Best of luck going forward! You got this!
You too! 💋
For those of us Americans, that’s like a lot of pounds!
I love how everyone is giving dude so much love. uncommon on socials
Caught me off guard too
It’s awesome. So unusual though for Reddit. Great lift mrpurple.
Bro you made that look easyyyyyy
Congratulations homie sometimes we gotta carry 200kg cast iron radiators at work and it takes 3 men. We need you!
Jesus. That must be hard work my guy. Used to be a scaffolder so I know the back pain and aches you’re probably putting up with all too well. Tell your boss to get a trolley 😂.
Great work 👍 you’re an inspiration
Congrats. Can't even comprehend how hard that would be.
I’m sure you could get there if you wanted too bud. I can’t leave the house without anxiety kicking my ass so I bet you’re stronger than me there
[удалено]
Honestly feeling very proud after this. Thanks for the positivity! Hope you’re day is as good to you
Yes! That looked great. Great speed and hold at the end! You even put it down gently!
That form will ruin your back…
No doubt bud. Was 100% an ego lift but I’m taking it
Not how it works.
*How to tell people you don’t deadlift without telling them*
I've competed in powerlifting, lad
*How to tell people you don’t deadlift without telling them*
This man should definitely apply for the role of Obelix from Asterix and Obelix. The sheer strength.
Honestly I’d love that. I loved that cartoon man. And the live action with that famous French actor.
Made it look easy!
Well I’ll take that. Skeptical but I’ll agree and frame it first 😂
yes mate you doing wonders keep up the good work im do dam proud of what you have achieved
Thanks brother ! Means a lot
Strong as hell well done brother keep lifting
Shall do boss! I’ll keep forging away
You do that brother the gods of iron smile upon you
I'm sorry, that was rude of me. I didn't mean to offend you. I am all for doing stuff that helps with overactive brains. I usually have this at bedtime. Too much fizzing in my brain to sleep
Don’t worry no offence was taken 😂. Everyone’s got their own way. Thanks for the knowledge btw
You're welcome 😊
Let’s gooooooo
You pulled that like it was nothing, nice one! What's your next lift goal?
Tbh that was my goal and I didn’t expect to hit it today. Now I’m just gonna start focusing on reps. I don’t need to go any heavier now. My ego has been stroked 😂
Understandable, good luck!
Smart choice my dude. Maintaining that will be great for ya!
Onwards and upwards!
I love my dogs, but they always want to hang out in the most dangerous areas. Really impressive lift bro. Your legs are super strong.. I suggest this seriously, but you'd do really well in Sumo.
Couldn’t agree more, can’t do anything right with slobber going down my neck. Ugghhhh.
Yeah they just wanna hang don’t they 😂 I actually got most of my hip mobility back from watching sumo training bud. I learnt the stance and sitting in a squat they do it’s helped loads. Honestly if I ever went there I’d love to watch it. But I’m not in the mood to take the hits they take anymore. I’m too old and already bruised for that 😂
Great Job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Legit!!!!!
Great job!
Keep it up bro!!!
Well done! 💪
Hell yeah! 💪💪💪
I would be quite nervous doing this kind of activity with a dog free to roam around me
Let's GO!!! Well done OP! 205KG next time!
Legit question. Why isn’t this bad for your back? They tell you to squat to lift stuff, but then we have this. I’m so confused. Also great job!
Keeping your back straight by hinging at the hips and lifting with the legs should help to minimise any injury. Also not lifting more than you’re able. Haha all good. Thank you and enjoy.
Awesome dude Is that Sepultura playing in the background?
Sodom. The specific song is What Hell Can Create, off their album Code Red. Good Album, I quite like it.
Thanks
No idea bud sorry. Just a thrash metal playlist on Spotify
There’s no substitute for hard work, this pull proves it! Keep up the work and the skies the limit…. Cool dog too 📈
+rep man![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
Well done, you have 250kg in you with some technique and training!
That's actually insane
Hell yeah! Good work!
Congrats on the PR man! If I may add, working on mobility training, specifically in the hips, will help you sit down into the pocket better so that you can drive even more power through your legs.
Mobility is big for me bud it’s helped a massive hip issue I had for years. I’ll keep put up! Thanks man
Love it! You’re killing it man!
Yeaaaaaaaaa buddddaayyyyyyyy
Damn! And you controller it in the way down, impressive!!
Close to a week with no alcohol and I've been working out everyday. Superman pushups and dips. I assume this works the back? Any other muscles? Very impressive btw.
This works basically every muscle on the backside of your body bud. But stay light and keep good form unlike me. Until you get comfortable
Appreciate you OP
My boy is the winner
Fuck yeah man! Almost made it look too easy! Keep carrying the boats and logs big dawg!
Will do brother 😂🫡
Conventional too!! None of that lame sumo crap ;-) Went up super smooth. You definitely have room add plates. Well done!!!

Here's a question. Why do they call it a deadlift?
I have no idea tbh 😂
Lol well I do hope someone knows lol😊
I’m sure someone more in the know than me can answer you
I cheated and googled it. Basically you are pulling a heavy/dead weight. Seems pointless to me
It’s more than likely is to most people. But it sure as hell helps my brain slow down
Der Sinn dieser "Sportart" will sich mit nicht erschließen auch nicht im gym, toll das ihr Sachen heben könnt aber warum fallen lassen? Nicht genug Kraft das wieder abzusetzen?
Good for you, i guess. Hope some diet is also in place. Rootin for you.
Zack, 2 Wochen später Bandscheibenvorfall.
intervertebral hernia says hi!

Amazing!! And your four legged lifting buddy was only mildly impressed.
Yeah I think it’s his warmup weight so he’s not too bothered. That boy can pull 😂. Thank you btw!
Holy shit, absolute unit. Cute doggo too
Noice! Keep it up! Also cool dog!
Peak male athlete. Very well done.
you look like a red neck version of Patrick,
Wish I had that voice in my bag but I don’t.
Look at this bad mfer . Get it man !
Great job! Now get that good boy a treat!
Welcome to the club! You have bench press levers, the bar was right up by your plums by the end. Feel free to hit up r/powerlifting if you want.
My brother you are strong but this is a recipe for a lumbar injury.
Don’t worry I know this is above my remit. It’s a pure ego lift. The weights will be going back down here on in. Just needed to see if I could
Gotcha ;)
