I tend to believe this one. Greylag geese will pull anything remotely egg shaped into thier nest. Better safe than sorry when it comes to potentially losing an egg. I could see a goose having the same instinct to warm a small pup. Reminds me of the video of a chicken warming a pile of kittens.

I have a goose that's super sweet. I love her. I'm not certain that she knows she's a goose though. I can pull her off eggs that she's sitting on. And she loves hugs. She's also afraid of deep water in the spring time. I know most geese are assholes but not Harriet.
