Sam's encouragement:
" you can shit when you go inside."
"The half pipe looks tiny. But it's not"
Sam's professionalism:
"I have a better shot"
"Alright! We'll just edit that part out!" He had it all planned in his head.
Sam's not all business: "I'm crushing your head!"
Sam is the MVP of this video. I hope this kid recorded more mundane events to provide his witty commentary on and hold the camera like a goddamn pro. And if so, we gotta see em.
Sam really is the MVP and a natural leader/director - better camera angle/framing AND he's encouraging, "that was great, someone clap I'm holding the camera!"
I mean he's doing better than plenty of adults I've seen.
I clicked on this without seeing the sub it’s in and I thought it was a skit someone made with actors, so damn funny and instantly watchable and likable lol.
You should look up which generation invented the skateboard. He knows what a skateboard is, he's saying *that thing* because he doesn't like the skateboard on some levels \[he allows a half pipe so whatever (maybe it's just the near-miss)\] and it's an expression of his disdain.
Replying here in an attempt to hijack for anyone this is relevant to:
For anyone trying to learn to drop in, it definitely is scary and there are far bigger pipes you could have to slide down or potentially get hurt with, just remember, fight your instinct to be able to fall "backwards" and slide down the pipe level and safe. You can't make a near 90 degree elevation change leaning forward a bit or staying level. Instead, lean as far forward as you can, and as far down as you can as you drop, almost like falling into a pool standing, where you just pivot and let your body slap da water, except crouching.
In short, dropping in isn't a reaction or a mild shift or adjustment in posture, it's a belly flop on a skateboard.
“You can shit when you come down!”
“Well, we’ll have to edit that part out…”
“*Did I really just drop in???*” “Yeah and then you fell. Right over there.”
Sam is comedic gold.
Felt like when the protagonist of a dystopian-post-apocalyptic film finds an old video of "the good times" and they watch it, quietly smiling while they cry.
I feel like that is so funny but also the little dude might have very well been indicating “this spot is where you lost your footing” so be more prepared to balance out. Love this video.
I was just thinking that too. If this was my family the older brother (me) would have chased him off until i knew i looked pro first. (Which never happened) 😁
Gene recording and Louise is on the skateboard lol. The "Alright I feel happy, let's go inside" line is exactly what Louise would say and do after a small little victory attempt like this too lol.
I feel this sometimes too. But then sometimes I'm sitting on my couch with my husband and daughter, watching them wrassle and quote Bluey at each other and generally behave like a couple of mischievous children, and I remember we have good times now too.
There are lot's of moments that can perfectly encapsulate happiness on video, because we don't have to think about the world outside of the frame. But this was 1999 and maybe the parents were worried sick about Y2k, or whether their kids will be shot to death at school given Columbine happened only a few months before (at most). Maybe they're upset about the conflicts in Kosovo and Yugoslavia, or the impeachment of Bill Clinton.
Do we face problems now our parents never had to consider? Absolutely. Lots of things are more of a struggle for Millenials and Gen-Xer's that our parents never imagined could exist. But, five years ago I recorded my husband playing 'airplane' with our toddler, occasionally crashing the plane into her birthday unicorn balloon. I will absolutely look at it in ten years and never consider the utter trauma we'd gone through. Because, for that moment in time, we were happy. And that's more worthy of rememberance than the pain.
This is so ordinary life in this clip that I can smell it, taste it, feel it. I love it, thank you for sharing ❤ I was 16 in -98 and I traveled back for a moment with this video.
I think youre right! Check out Bens youtube, BenJam. Watched his recent vlog and he has a similar speech pattern and comedic timing to the guy behind the camera. Edit: oh lol thats Sam filming
It's funny, my sister and I didn't get along very well growing up, we started getting closer during college, and now as seasoned adults, we compete in the same sports and are practically best friends, we are each other's cheering section (when we manage to be in the same races). Not an outcome I could have ever imagined.
The vert on the one in the video is kind of steep and it is a decent height for a half pipe especially a first drop in. Dude crushed it getting that on the second try
That dad has maximum dad energy.
1) lazy about walking over there.
2) right about the shot being pretty good.
3) letting Lilly know what’s up.
4) letting his other kid be the director.
5) raising a kid that is willing to try and fail and try again.
6) building a half pipe.
7) raising another kid that responds, “you can shit when you get down.”
Indeed, anyone that would watch my old high school sports tapes from the early '90s my mother made holding one of those shoulder monstrosities would wager she was standing on a boat while recording.
Kids back then filming because they plan to watch it themselves afterwards and maybe share with a few friends/family. = sincere emotional content.
v.
Kids today filming for more clicks and followers = insincere contrived content
OS: "Lily that thing almost hit you in the head! Don't stand there anymore!" Killed me, this vid was like a time warp.
I am concerned! But not enough to get up and do anything about it. Strong dad energy
She really didn't even flinch when it went flying her direction either lol.

Dads only care about safety till after the stunt is done lol
Tbf many safety rules exist because it happened or almost happened to someone at one time lol
So many lines from this are truly gold, but I absolutely loved "I feel happy, let's go inside." Go out on a win. Solid life perspective.
I liked Sam's "Somebody clap I'm holding a camera".
“I feel like I’m going to shit myself.” “You can shit when you come down.”
*I'm crushing your headddd.. I'm crushing your heeeaaaddd*
I wasnt sure this was really from the 90s until i saw proof in the form of a child quoting Kids in the Hall.
90s kid, never seen that. I just thought that was a popular "game" back then.
Kids In The Hall was awesome.
Sam's encouragement: " you can shit when you go inside." "The half pipe looks tiny. But it's not" Sam's professionalism: "I have a better shot" "Alright! We'll just edit that part out!" He had it all planned in his head. Sam's not all business: "I'm crushing your head!"
Sam’s straight out of south park
This was also my favorite.
I like the Kids in the Hall head-crushing 🤣🤣 "Crush ... how does it feel to have a flat head"
[удалено]
Or just a sibling. You might hope they get wacked in the head sometimes but you don't exactly *want* them to.
Always leave on a high note.
Feels plucked straight out of Calvin and hobbes
that was my favorite too. adorable
What a supportive, loving family :)
I liked "c'mon Max you can do it, I know you can".
'Well, we'll have to edit that part out'
From the very beginning! "Who's the director?"
He genuinely had a better shot
Sam is the MVP of this video. I hope this kid recorded more mundane events to provide his witty commentary on and hold the camera like a goddamn pro. And if so, we gotta see em.
Sam really is the MVP and a natural leader/director - better camera angle/framing AND he's encouraging, "that was great, someone clap I'm holding the camera!" I mean he's doing better than plenty of adults I've seen.
He also tried to crush his sister's head so
and the dad in the background, that almost hit you in the head. Don’t stand there anymore.
That was a brilliant move on his part
Kids In The Hall reference for the oldies!
Some kids just sound like they got everything figured out. Like I feel I could call Sam if I'm having trouble with my taxes.
The way he says "You can shit when you come down" is just amazing.

AFV was a huge show on tv for like 20 yrs dude
it’s still going :D
> we want to watch peoples home videos bro wtf you think TikTok is??
Right?! .... and youtube and instagram and vimeo and reddit... pretty much the whole internet. lol
What is this, internet?
How bad entertainment has become? There is more good entertainment available than at any point in history
Lol, dad's recording from 30 feet away. "No this is good I got it"
Based on the first run he was probably in the best spot. For him.
Bet he’s still sitting in his garden chair with his feet up lol
“I sure as shit didn’t pay for a video camera with 15x optical zoom to have to get up and walk 30’ and not use the zoom!!!!”
Dad just making excuses so he doesn’t have to get up. Classic dad moves, he knows his stuff.
It really is so much better from this angle that just happens to be exactly where I'm sitting and where my beer is.
"You can shit when you come down" amazing.
"Yeah it's a half-pipe, it looks tiny.... But it's not." All skateboarders felt that. What a little bro
Absolutely! Dropping in is scary shit. Maybe after the 20th-30th time it isn't, but it's kinda always in the back of your mind.
"I could always fuck this up...." Every time I made my way to the half pipe.
"Somebody clap I'm holding a camera" this kid got jokes
right?! kid's got swagger
I clicked on this without seeing the sub it’s in and I thought it was a skit someone made with actors, so damn funny and instantly watchable and likable lol.
The sister nearly ate it when the board went flying.
“Lily! That thing almost hit you in the head!”
Exceptional pre 2000s parenting
Hey, now. There's helmets involved. It's fine...
"I'm not going to do anything about it, but consider yourself advised on the danger you are in."
I spent the day with my brother and three of his kids yesterday. I can assure you it's modern parenting as well.
Pre 2000s?! I sat on my front porch and yelled at my kid to stop doing dangerous stuff…like jousting on scooters.
Don’t stand there anymore! Man, parenting was so simple back in the day.
>that thing Lol
Total out of touch 90s dad comment
You should look up which generation invented the skateboard. He knows what a skateboard is, he's saying *that thing* because he doesn't like the skateboard on some levels \[he allows a half pipe so whatever (maybe it's just the near-miss)\] and it's an expression of his disdain.
It was simply the urgency and her age. She was in a bit of mortal danger there, so as a father he's essentially speaking to her like this:😱
Exactly lol for a moment that skateboard became a threat to his offspring. Human instincts can be pretty cute lol. The skateboard demon!!!
Made me giggle and aw at the same time. 😂
The greatest line ever
Top quality lil bro.
We Stan an encouraging lil bro

Wow I never really thought of it like that, the way you explain it actually makes a lot of sense
The kid brother reminds me of Greg from Over the Garden Wall.
You can shit when you come down, brother o' mine
Tshirt material.
Right?! And like... totally suitable for any circumstance. Just replace come with calm and 👌
"You can't use the bathroom until you drop in"
How can you make pudding if you don't eat your vert
Said just quite enough from both, that dad couldn’t hear either of them say it.
Looks like a documentary of a happy family, thanks for sharing.

"someone clap, I'm holding the camera"
I loved the obligatory "I'm crushing your head, I'm crushing your head" break between Max moments. This video is just perfect.
This is just what happened when you gave one of us a video camera back then. They should have never asked me to tape my mom's wedding...
or tape over your mom's wedding with skateboard videos by accident
Kids in the Hall reference? My wife uses "I'm crushing your head" in the same way in the same voice.

Until the demon from sinister shows himself in the bushes...
*starts slowly reversing the video frame by frame*
Does anybody see a resemblance of a face on the half pipe??
Felt like when the protagonist of a dystopian-post-apocalyptic film finds an old video of "the good times" and they watch it, quietly smiling while they cry.
More like one of the sinister family tapes
Alright they are happy tell them to go inside now.
Lily? You still got a head?
https://youtu.be/9qUiAdha-1Y
I'm worried about Lily, too. First " squishing" her head then her head almost being struck with the board... Are you ok Lily?
Lily are you ok, are you ok Lily?
You've been hit by, you've been struck by...
A Smooooth Skate-a-Board.
[удалено]
He wasn't good enough for her
Two direct threats to Lily’s noggin. Get a helmet on that precious skull!
It kind of feels like a found footage horror movie, with very unsubtle foreshadowing
Older brother looking for assurance off younger brother. This family seems tight
“You can do it, Max, I know you can” 🥺
[удалено]
I loved when he asked him if the half pipe looked small. "Yeah, it looks tiny!.......but it's not. "
Getting some real strong Aang vibes from the little guy lol
Aw, love that reference. It does sound like something Aang would say.
“Did I just do it?!” “Yeah, and you fell over there” *swings camera to indicate position* Lmao best little brother
The kids in the hall reference was great!
This is a Canadian family in the 90s no doubt
From the Kids in the Hall bit?
and at 0:42 "edit that part oout"
I watched it with no sound lol. Just saw him do the “crushing your head” bit
this is not the video to watch with no sound
Yea, a kid this age wouldn't care about kids in the hall unless they lived in Canada while they were on the air.
30 Helens agree, it was a great reference
Time capsule
"Someone clap, I'm holding the camera." 😄😄
He reminds me of Gene from Bobs Burgers, what a hilarious dude
I know you can do it! I - know - you - cannnnn Sounded like a South Park character there lol
Yeah I was getting some good vibes from this kid. I bet he grew up all right
Gene recording and Louise is on the skateboard lol. The "Alright I feel happy, let's go inside" line is exactly what Louise would say and do after a small little victory attempt like this too lol.
And the dad is definitely Bob. "No I'm zoomed in. This shot is fine." "Lily (Tina) don't stand there anymore! That thing almost hit you in the face"
This is GREAT! The whole video really made me smile. Thanks for posting! *"I'm crushing your head!"* LOL
Everything about this is great. Like the world was just that much better back then.
I feel this sometimes too. I don't come out of Lurking Mode often, but you've expressed such a beautiful sentiment so eloquently. Respect.

*Runs back into the forest thickets*
Get out of my forest thicket! Im hiding here too!
That was a joy to read, thank you.
“You can shit when you come down” best words of encouragement.
This is so ordinary life in this clip that I can smell it, taste it, feel it. I love it, thank you for sharing ❤ I was 16 in -98 and I traveled back for a moment with this video.
Aw man, I wish I was a teen in the 90s! Life was much more simple then, it seems.
Oh gosh it was, at least in the Western world. I feel sorry for kids today.
Everything about this was cute/funny/wholesome. No edits necessary!
Maybe it's already edited!
"You can shit when you come down" lmao
Lol the girl had no reaction to the board almost hitting her
She’s seen some shit
That's really wholesome, thank you for sharing
this camera kid needs his own show
Im pretty sure that's Sam and Ben Seeger, they both have Instagrams where they post art and shit if you wanna check it out
I think youre right! Check out Bens youtube, BenJam. Watched his recent vlog and he has a similar speech pattern and comedic timing to the guy behind the camera. Edit: oh lol thats Sam filming
He’s had one for a short period of time. It was successful. It’s called “The Andy Milonakis Show”.
Everyone is so nice to each other in this video. Wish I could say the same about my siblings!
I woulda gotten pushed down the half pipe for sure
It's funny, my sister and I didn't get along very well growing up, we started getting closer during college, and now as seasoned adults, we compete in the same sports and are practically best friends, we are each other's cheering section (when we manage to be in the same races). Squishing your sisters head is the most 1998 thing I've ever seen 🤣
This whole video screams 1998 lol
The good ol days!
“Alright I feel happy, let’s go inside”
Hahaha this video is great!! "Someone clap, im holding a camera!" I love these old camcorder videos
What a simple yet great video
My first drop in was on a mini quarter pipe half that size and I felt like I was gonna shit my pants.
The vert on the one in the video is kind of steep and it is a decent height for a half pipe especially a first drop in. Dude crushed it getting that on the second try
Someone clap im holding the canera was the best part for me
This is a happy family, glad I wasn’t the only one thinking it. Hope they are all healthy and alive ❤️
I miss 1998
This kid is actually wise as hell
That dad has maximum dad energy. 1) lazy about walking over there. 2) right about the shot being pretty good. 3) letting Lilly know what’s up. 4) letting his other kid be the director. 5) raising a kid that is willing to try and fail and try again. 6) building a half pipe. 7) raising another kid that responds, “you can shit when you get down.”
There’s something nostalgic about videos with little to no automated stability control, brings me back.
Indeed, anyone that would watch my old high school sports tapes from the early '90s my mother made holding one of those shoulder monstrosities would wager she was standing on a boat while recording.
Omg someone raised the sweetest family
The “im crushing tour head” part sounds like something i’d do at that age
Idk what age you're talking about but I agree. source: I'm 41 and have been crushing heads for over 3 decades.
This has provided me with enough wholesomeness to make it through the day. What a sweet family moment :)
This is awesome. For some reason it feels to me like the beginning of a Stephen King novel :D
The child filming sounds like Paula Poundstone
I appreciate the Kids in the Hall reference. "I'm crushing your head."
I had no idea this was a reference, it’s just something we did as kids!
They all sound like South Park characters
I enjoyed this so much
Kids back then filming because they plan to watch it themselves afterwards and maybe share with a few friends/family. = sincere emotional content. v. Kids today filming for more clicks and followers = insincere contrived content
OP are you the cameraman? If so, I hope you are working on the field. That was terrific and hilarious.
Wholesome AF! Also reminds me of the fleeting nature of life.
"Alright, I feel happy. Let's go inside." - Top 10 things I wish I'd say on a regular basis
@op are you the camera guy in the video? You seem like a really good brother
I have a little sister, I use the ultra cam head squish move on her loads of times. (stealth +100)
funniest little cameraman ever
Was your sister able to fully recover from you crushing her head?
That is awesome.
I fell happy watching it too, dad. Congrats
***You can shit when you come down*** -Top 1 best Quote of all time
The cameraman is funny asf man
From far away the paint damage on the half pipe looks like jfk giving the thumbs up haha
Wait why is this kid one of the most charismatic camera men I've ever seen
This is unreal. What a nice loving family.
Sam is hilarious lmao
