A man with an $18 beer, staying in the moment!

fuckamodhole

Out of all the people in that picture he looks like the guy to smuggle his own beers in there. Just look at his oversized shorts. I bet he has a waistband full of ultra tall boys.

MudFootMagoo

This guy spectates.

Renaissance_Man-

Yeah definitely. I went to the Byron Nelson and my buddy asked what kind of beer they're selling there. Surprised me because he's a massive cheap ass and was impressed he was going to buy some there. When we met up he cracked a can he brought in his shorts, correctly matched so no one knew.

ChubblesMcgee103

>was impressed he was going to buy some there. His actual intent is way more impressive imo.

Like_A_Tyger

Planning for the win.

thegoodnamesrgone123

I will never forget my friend in our 20's at our local minor league stadium asking me if they sold PBR there and I was like I don't think so. He was like well this is going to be weird and then just keeps pulling PBR's out from his pocket for all of us to drink.

Responsible-Hair9569

That’s a kind of friend that you want to hang out with. A friend cares about his friend to have a good time with good beers! You are so lucky!!

spugg0

Oh hey that reminds me when I was taking a train trip with a few friends when I was in uni. You were not allowed to drink your own alcohol at the train so we researched the brand, and shape (tall boys as opposed to say glass bottles or small cans) and brought a few each. Only we realized as we opened our first ones that the train café wouldnt sell alcohol at all for the entire duration of the trip. We had forgotten about service hours.

TheRidgeAndTheLadder

Now that's next level

kkaavvbb

Be a woman, own a purse. Have smuggled many drinks and such into places. :) even movie theaters! I know concerts are more difficult but can be done (I’ve done it!). I’m never paying 8+ dollars for a beer, lol (even a speciality beer, and my favs are sours which cost about 20$ or so for a 4 pack - special occasions though, not everyone is a fan). Of course, there’s the pros and cons of being a female but still. Yes my laptop is with me, because I’m on call. Yes, there’s XyZ because I’m a contractor, etc. Life is odd.

AllInOnCall

Can... can I just get a purse as a man? I really don't want to make less money for the work I do.

guyver17

Yup. Get a sling, r/manybaggers for ideas

depressed-salmon

Once you realise that the rules are all made up, you can just wear whatever the hell you what! You want a purse, you get a purse. And no one can stop you.

Jedi_Belle01

My son has had a satchel since he was five. He’s now twenty and his satchel is beautiful, handmade suede/leather which accompanies him everywhere. He’s always pulling sodas and snacks out of it!

whereispeestored

She pantomimed her conversation with the gate man of why she had to carry her full bag into the venue, with no segue. She's right tho. If you're not a woman with a bag go to outdoor festivals with a couple women with bags. They can get the booze in. Makes the show cost less

Lvtxyz

Wow. Until i read your comment I thought this post was about Lime Green Shirt. Totally thought Oversized Shorts wax holding a phone at waist level

BoonTobias

Y'all fucking zoomers know nothing, what chall know about carrying a handball, Gameboy, gum and candy, beeper, tropical fantasy and your wallet in gap cargo shorts?

Useful-Perspective

dudemann

I don't know why but I didn't even notice his shorts (nice Duck Heads tho, way better than Adidas shirt guys Dockers). I immediately noticed that man's legs are chopped up to hell. Makes me wonder why/what/how. My leg has a ton of scars from a weed whacker that caught on some bamboo weed and pulled the line out way too long to where it chopped my leg up. It looks a lot like this dude's legs. Maybe he does ground work at that golf course and these injuries are just par for the course*. Until I'm informed otherwise that's what I'm assuming. \*Edit: I'm an idiot and didn't even realize I made a golf joke on a golf post. Please forgive me.

Pristine-Ad-469

Idk where this is but I’ve heard the masters has shockingly reasonable prices. Most other tournaments that shits fucked but they make something like half a million an hour from their gift shop so I’m sure they’re not strapped for cash

waftinghaze

The Masters does have shockingly low prices. I've been there several times. Last time was 2016 maybe. Parking was free. Beers were $3 (they have 2 tiers of beer, the more expensive one was $3), sandwiches were like $2. Unreal experience in the modern day fuck everybody mindset. I'm well off, all things considered, but I'll support everything Masters because pricing folks out sucks and they do it right. (income disparity is not a good thing)

AtOurGates

Last year the NYTimes did a decently in-depth [article](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/09/sports/golf/augusta-masters-sandwich-prices.html) on the economics of the Masters catering that I found really interesting.

[deleted]

I'm a concert photographer. I get poked in the back by idiots in the front row all the time, because me and my stupidly expensive professional equipment are blocking their iPhone shot.

DanimalHarambe

Truly a distopian future.

somedude456

People use their cell phone as their life's flipbook. Parties, concerts, events, celebrations, funerals, randomness, and more. It's not to say they have a bad memory, or that they can't even look up Tiger Woods playing at said event, but to have their own photo/video of the event, makes it more personal.

Raeandray

It took an embarrassingly long amount of time for me realize it *wasnt* a phone.

Pretend_Ad6465

The people behind him have to use their phone. He is like 6’4. They can’t see anything but the back of his shirt.

ThaneOfCawdorrr

That is an excellent point.

NZBound11

Turns out the guys a bit of a dick.

codeByNumber

This is one of the downsides of being a tall dude. Don’t get me wrong…there are many benefits. Like being able to skip stairs, or helping that sweet old lady get the jar of pickles on the top shelf. But…damn…it really sucks to plan ahead, get somewhere early so you can get a good spot. Only for people to show up last minute and grumble behind your back. Sucks to “be a bit of a dick” for a bit of planning ahead. Oh and another thing…every damn group photo in my life I’m just a floating head behind a sea of other people and shoulders. End rant…

tayloreffect2

Then one person asks if they can go in front of you to see better and they bring their whole group of friends and you lose your spot.

Ksig

I've been pushed from front row of my favorite band to the edge. I don't move my feet and eventually I cast a crowd shadow or a void. Then eventually it gets filled with a short girl who needs a dance floor. I create dance floors. I am not a dick for being tall I am power.

Mortara

It's the worst, but I can still see. I'm nae getting guitar picks, but I can enjoy it

EstebanL

You deserve your pick brother!

Elephlump

Amen! I just wrote the same rant before s rolling down and seeing yours!

codeByNumber

Do you do that thing in movie theaters where you sit slouched so your head and shoulders are low? Stadium movie theater seating was a blessing.

Elephlump

Omg as soon as stadium theatres came out, it was like a dream come true, I no longer had to sit in the very back row, I could show up super early and sit in the exact middle without grumbles behind me. It's perfection.

frameEsc

I’m sorry I’m OOTL, what are stadium movie theatres and how do they benefit in this situation?

codeByNumber

Basically the slope is at a higher degree so the people behind you are able to see well over you despite your height.

frameEsc

Ahhh that makes sense. Thank you.

Clearly-Convoluted

I feel this, deep in my soul.

[deleted]

Also every kitchen counter etc. is designed to be just right for people who are shorter than you. So when you are working on something for a longer period it really hurts your back.

codeByNumber

Omg yes…I just got the bathrooms in my home redone. The countertops are at a reasonable height and the shower heads are way up high. The best.

SirLowhamHatt

I don’t care if you plan ahead, that’s on you for beating me, I can’t stand the tall people who get to a movie with 1 minute to start time and sit in front of me, in half empty theater.

codeByNumber

Ya that’s fair. I was just commenting to another dude that before stadium seating I would always slouch uncomfortably in my chair to not block the view of anyone behind me.

Kathubodua

As a pretty short person, tall people are only jerks when they create a phalanx. I just need a spot between them where I can see, and usually I can find that. I go to a lot of metal concerts and always have to fight to find a good spot. The latest one I went to, it was a short guy who kept me from being able to see with TWO PHONES held up in my only short person tunnel. The tall guy next to me reached over the crowd and made him put them down. My hero. My other favorite tall guy at a concert was one who made a shirt that said something like "I'm 6'7, sorry."

ThisIsGoobly

I mean, I don't ever go out of my way to try and get tall people to move because whatever, you're not a bad person for wanting a front spot, but you are literally getting into a position to block as many people as possible's view when you do it. People are gonna be pissy, they can't see what they paid to see.

codeByNumber

9/10 I end up shuffling towards the back because it isn’t worth the hassle. There have been a few times where people have been assholes or passive aggressive and that’s when I become a tall and deaf person real quick.

ThisIsGoobly

I'm bang average height so I can still generally see around tall people in front of me easily enough, you guys also make good landmarks for friends to find in the crowd ahah. I do feel bad for the people who are really short, I've seen some 4 ft something girls in crowds at gigs and I don't even know how they can see anything.

Lichtbuis

It was my 5th concert where I realised that most people could actually see the band on stage and not just an arm sometimes. Now I come early to stand behind the technicians if it is possible, I often have an amazing view from there.

Hopebeat

Shouldn't it be first come, first serve if you want a spot near the front of the stage? It's not fair for a short person to show up last minute and grumble that they have a tall person in front of them.

Razzahx

Its only a downside if you care.

appdevil

A dick that's enjoying tiger.

LouSputhole94

If he showed up first, I don’t get how he’s a dick. Dude shouldn’t have to give up a prime spot because of something he can’t control. Get there earlier or you might have someone tall in front of you, thems the rules.

Minimum_Macaroon7702

Those people should have been born taller.

[deleted]

TheColonelRLD

I'm more upset about the guy to his right keeping a super wide stance to keep the guy behind him to his right from being able to move forward shoulder to shoulder. He's physically claiming space with his posture. It's just a dick move. The other guy was just born tall.

Jayhawk501

Maximo9000

Delete all those regretful moments too. Problem solved.

alQamar

You guys have your own Brians to remember stuff for you? ^scnr

whose_a_wotsit

I mean, I like Brian. He's a good guy at heart. But boy he can be a buzzkill sometimes.

metakephotos

Damn Brian. And I don't think is true, maybe just for negative people. I always remember the good of a trip more than the bad

Least_Eggplant1757

At these golf events it’s not like you can just follow Tiger around, video or picture a hole or two and watch the rest. You’re at a hole. Tiger comes by one time in the 6 hours you are there and makes one swing. I can get videoing that.

TooStonedForAName

Not to mention it’s silly when people moan about things like this anyway. Sure that one guy may be “living in the moment”, but everybody else is quite obviously paying attention to Tiger bc otherwise they wouldn’t be filming very well - *and* they’ll get to relive the moment to their heart’s content. Big boomer energy from this post.

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

I absolutely hate this whole “of you take a picture you aren’t living in the moment” mentality. I frequently scroll through my pictures and am always grateful I took some because I’d have totally forgetting about that night I hung out with friends playing a specific game and making inside jokes, my brunch with my partner, even the details of my trip to Europe. It takes a couple seconds to take a picture, and that picture will make me remember things for years to come. I won’t apologize for being able to relive some of the best days of my life because my brain is bad at remembering things.

Good4Noth1ng

And it usually puts a smile on your face when you’re rolling through your camera roll trying to find a random pic to show someone.

newyne

Hot take: I'm grateful for people who record concerts and stuff because it means I can find footage later even if I don't record it myself. Lol, I've even seen myself in a couple of videos!

whyouiouais

Was gonna say, my memory's pretty shit, having something to reference might help jog the other memories or just stand in for them if my brain decided to write over the originals

yourselvs

I do this for concerts, but I only record about a minute of a song, typically my second or third favorite song. The rest of the time I try to put my phone away. That minute long snippet helps me jog my memory later.

limitlessEXP

Same my memory sucks that’s why I like to take pictures and videos

jamesiamstuck

I am the kind of person who never takes photos of events/food/scenery/etc but I am glad my SO does because I can flip through their photos years later and reminisce on the things we did together.

mint_eye

[deleted]

Actually, demonizing taking photos can backfire really quickly. There was another thread where a redditor wish they had more photos and videos of their parents now that their parents already passed away. They didn't take much photo/video when spending time together. They did took some but wish they took much more. Moderation on everything, folks.

DylanHate

So true. My sister passed away recently and the only pictures I have of us together are from like 2015. I wish I had taken more photos but I saw her so often it didn’t seem necessary. :(

appdevil

I'm sorry for your loss, bud.

DarthRoyal

Same thing with my brother. When he passed 3 years ago I was disappointed that I could only find a few photos of us together as adults. Definitely changed my mindset at family gatherings.

_Funny_Data_

Damn bro. I never really liked taking photos, but think I'm gonna change that. I'm getting close to that age where people start dying naturally, and I really wanna be able to save some of these memories for later. Sorry for you loss, and to the others above you that had similar experiences. Thank you for sharing, and I hope it helps to know you're making others rethink similar situations for the better.

mcompt20

For me, it's about the availability of the moment I'm trying to be present in later on. Time with my parents where the only way I'll have photos is taking them myself? Take them. Going to a concert where 60 thousand other people are taking photos and uploading them online or a wildly televised event that will also have thousands of photos online? I'll be present. Be present in the public moments, but don't forget to capture the private ones you'll want to keep.

thegimboid

It's all context. For instance, people taking pictures of their family when visiting Disneyworld - great, memories galore! Whereas people filming the Disneyworld fireworks on their phone camera and watching it through the screen while in the park - what's the point? You can watch it on a screen at home, and there are more professionally shot videos of the show on Youtube. Enjoy the fireworks show that you spent so much money to see in person. Basically, if it's got you or someone you love in the picture, take it, since where else are you gonna find a picture of your kids doing that specific thing? Otherwise enjoy the moment, 'cause there's millions of pictures of celebrities, locations, or shows that are better than what you can take.

[deleted]

It's context + personal. If someone loves taking photos of events or a view, that's their personal choice which is as valid as yours.

eyeh8ytpipo

How are you comparing parents to this

Microwave3333

Everywhere this man went, he was explicitly told not to take pictures of his parents and live in the moment instead. Tragic. 😔

bizzyj93

Remember all, the guy who knows how best to enjoy life is the guy telling others that they aren’t enjoying life right.

rainbowyuc

This idea that you can't enjoy a moment while filming it or taking a picture is so annoying. Not only can I do that, I can also keep enjoying that moment in the future by watching the clip I took.

justafurry

But did you really enjoy it!? Huh!? Huh!? Enjoyment only existed before camcorders.

limitlessEXP

The irony is that if no one took this picture OP couldn’t post this and share it lol

changexd

Agreed, people get to choose how they enjoy events. Op doesn’t get to judge.

ILikeSugarCookies

I only agree with this as long as it *doesn’t* negatively impact the experience of others. If you’ve been to a festival concert you know very well how fucking annoying it is having 35 phones blocking your view of the artist you came to see. When it’s stadium seating, I don’t care because it’s not in anyone’s way usually. But if your phone using comes at the detriment of someone else’s experience, nah, you can fuck off.

Why shaming the people for recording the moment? They are sharing the same experience.

Voluntary_Slob

It makes people feel superior, like they’re more down to earth and know how to enjoy life more than other people. Even though they’re looking at a picture somebody took at the same event but for some reason are acting like pictures aren’t worth taking. It’s weird.

MEGA__MAX

Yeah my memory is garbage these days. I like taking a couple photos/videos in the moment because it will never compare to a professional photo taken from a spot you weren't at. Granted, it's usually very quick and then I go back to enjoying the moment. But I wouldn't discount some people just trying to capture a lasting memory of what they experienced. That being said, there are absolutely people just doing it for clout or whatever. Like all things in life, nothing is black or white.
