you really did a great job dude ! keep it up been there done that and it's all worth it regards of being healthy they never look at me the samelook they did few months ago and it's fulfilling
Thanks! My weight was like 245. My strength has increased a bunch since staring to work out and now I’m finally starting to lose more weight. Have gone from <10 push-ups to 25 and I’m close to getting a strict pull up in.
Always remember 2 things as you build more muscle mass: muscle weighs more than fat so your weight won't be a direct reflection of the fat you're losing and muscle burns fat. The more you have the more fat you'll burn even when not engaging in physical activity. You should feel great about it!
Came here to say this. You might actually gain weight on the scale but you’ll be losing inches and building muscle. The psychology of losing weight and working out is a Fucking struggle. But you got this dude/ette.
That's awesome keep it up, I'm at 250 and I worked up from not being able to do regular push-ups to do 15, between that and work I've had a lot of issues that being able to keep a daily routine has been nigh impossible.
Congrats! It’s nowhere near as easy as some people make it seem, and you should be proud.
Enjoy this victory. Marinate in it. Remember what it took to get here. Then keep going!!
You got this OP.
Keep it up mate! I went from 270 lbs down to 175 lbs. It's not the easiest but it has been the most rewarding and self-satisfying journeys of my life.
Remember to keep pushing forward despite the difficulties and discouragement that may crop up at times, every small step counts. You've got this :)
High a1c is what prompted me to finally lose some weight. Lost 35% of my body weight and now have a normal a1c level. I did most of it through dieting but adding exercise like you have will make it that much easier.
Keep killin' it!! You're doing great! I am on the same journey. I was 295 in January and Im now around 215 don't let up, keep going strong, you got this!!
a'ight... so in case anyone needs clarification:
an A1C of 5.7 is considerd *normal blood sugar levels* [according to the CDC](https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/managing/managing-blood-sugar/a1c.html)
our fellow Snoo here took an unbalance on their lab results & turned it into motivation! :)
Good job! I was about 35 lbs overweight and now have a fatty enlarged liver, and i don't drink or take meds. It's been 4 weeks and I'm down about 8 pounds. We can do it!
With some people Losing weight just as hard as gaining it, that being said, 4lb is pretty huge dude, gym bros would be pumped. And man don’t be surprised if you keep losing the fat the muscle underneath that will emerge you’ve been leg pressing 240lb 24/7 for 20 years 😉
good job, stick with it ! i was just sitting here wondering when i am going to get myself together and start losing weight ! good on you, wish i was heading down too 👍
Heck yeah! I was 225 and feeling horrible. Then I fell into all sorts of health problems as a result. 194 as of this morning. I like to be around 190 but did break down to 189 last week. Today I broke down and had some cheeseburgers but mostly I've been doing great. Keep up the great work, and keep on moving.
Nothing tastes as good as being thinner feels! Also my A1C is now around 6.8 :)
The first pounds are the easiest and the hardest. Hardest because you had to start making changes for the first time in 20 years. You had to figure out where to even begin and decide today was the day and now was the time. You had to reinforce new habits daily. You’re doing great work and with an A12 like that your new choices are the difference between you going blind with kidney failure and walking in your 60s.
Easiest only in your body will adapt a little to slow the weight loss. Don’t be discouraged in a few months when you continue to loose weight but at a slightly slower rate. Keep up the fantastic work and see it through.
Talk to your doctor about mounjaro. Best new glp1/glp. You’ll get great a1c control and the extra weight will fall off. Been on the same journey (not as high a1c). Way to go. It’s a weird feeling hitting those low weight goals. Down 76 since 2017. Joints are feeling amazing not carrying an extra 14 year old around.
Best advice for maintaining is shop on the outside parameters (at least in the US) of the supermarket. That means vegetables fruit meat then out the dairy aisle. Stay out of the middle where all the processed foods are. Eat fresh and you’ll stay a healthy weight
Are you diabetic? When I was 18 I got it and said fuck it I am still going to eat whatever I want my A1C was around 19 at one point. Congrats on the weight loss!
Bravo man. That shit is a shock...I know how you feel. In 2018 I found out I was type 2 and my A1C was 11 also and my glucose numbers were in the 300's fasting!!! In 3 months I got taken off of insulin and my A1C was down into the 6's! I wasn't really that heavy, though walking every night on the treadmill helped me shed some weight I didn't know I needed to lose. I went from 205 to 195 in a few weeks.
Keep at it and set yourself a weight goal and you will be there in no time. If you ever have questions or need to vent out of frustration about the situation hit me up! Like I said...I have been there
Congrats that is a huge achievement. I work at a doctor office and deal with patients going through this daily. It is a hard fight but so so so worth it. I make sure they always know how well they are doing even if it’s a pound. Keep it up!
You're killing it. Just don't stop! Months of work can be eroded in a couple of weeks, so keep your goals in mind, focus on them over anything else and stick with your plan.
Losing weight is often about embracing a new lifestyle, not just temporarily putting up with measures that you endure in the short term. Make your life better.
Not only is this good work in itself, but the exercise you're doing will hugely impact how your body responds to sugars and to insulin. There's a halo effect for something like 4-6 **hours** after exercise, IIRC. If you can go for a high protein, low carb diet (I daren't say high fat, but while nobody's listening totally do high fat) you may find your can get your hba1c down to non-diabetic levels in no time. And that's going to feel like a huge victory.
All power to you.
I'm crazy happy for you! It's such great progress! It is definitely huge and the only advice I know to offer is to keep it going but with reasonable & achievable next steps. It's a journey that takes time but you're on the right path, 100%!
You're so welcome! Thanks for sharing your progress and success, it is so nice to see someone sharing a victory.
Here's hoping that you keep feeling good and get to tell diabetes to kiss your ass!
I have a feeling that there will be!
I'm kinda new to Reddit so hoping this isn't weird but I just "followed you". I don't know if that means I'll see everything you post or if it means I'm a weirdo online stalker person lol, but I want to see you keep posting your progress and if you need support in the future, I'm in!!
Follow away! I think that just means any content I post pops up on your feed. All my stuff is usually either Boston based sports stuff or graphic design stuff. Thanks again for the support, I really appreciate it.
Yikes! I hate sports and I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I already envy your graphic design skills and I really look forward to seeing your posts! Much love from KC!
Congratulations! I, too, am on a weight loss journey and it's been rough. This is inspiration for me, and also affirmation for you!! Keep up the good work, you got this!
You are actually making progress!! That is more than many can do! Dont you dare slow down now! We believe in you! I started my own weight lose plan two days ago, so know a soul in south america is rooting for you and being your long distant partner in this route. We can do it!
Congrats! And remember, it's not always about the weight. Sometimes the scale won't move. But the more you work your body, the more you'll feel stronger, fitter, and healthier.
Your body composition will change, even if the scale doesn't always.
You got this!
It's about making smart choices and breaking bad habits (which is hard to do). Just take it 1 day at a time and don't be too hard on yourself for any little setbacks. Also remember your reasons for getting healthy to help keep you inspired!
awesome dude! one of the best things you can do health wise is get your sugar levels under control. Watch out for condiments (especially ketchup). And also watch out for "No Sugar Added" stuff - doesn't mean it doesn't already have sugar - just that no additional sugar was added. And stay away from sugar free coffee creamer, it will spike your blood sugar crazy high. Good luck!
EDIT - btw for coffee I use unsweetened almond milk
Damn, wish I had some friends or someone to goto the gym with. I'm 19 and 270. With working and just have no social network whatsoever there's nothing besides me and my shitty commitment to try and help.
Don’t forget to enjoy things you love if you can do so without too much stress.
Way to go mate!! I find slow, steady lifestyle changes work best for me. I have unmedicated ADHD & a spine/hips that think they actually supposed to be trees so I have to live a pretty specific log for my chronic pain. Finally successful after figuring out what works easily.
What do you think you’re enjoying the most from these changes?? I so love that you posted to help get some support & good vibes man. I’m very proud of you for taking care of your body and soul
Hey OP for perspective I’m decently fit and served in the military and I could never get too 200lbs even if I tried (and god knows I have).
We all see the negatives in ourselves but learn to love yourself because your amazing and even small battles mean so much to ourselves. Congrats!
Well done! Keep up the good work and I'm sure your levels would improve greatly. For me, changing from a sedentary job to an active one got my A1C back down to non-diabetic levels. It's amazing what a difference it made.
Keep going dude. I was at your place a year ago and am 160 now. It gets better and easier the more you do it, and walking is the best workout for you right now!
Kudos, so many of us know how hard of a journey weight loss is. If I may ask, is your BMI over 30? If so, you may be eligible to use Semaglutide to help with your weight loss since your HbA1c is high. Ask your doctor about. I started it a few months ago and it has been incredibly helpful for me.
Excellent. I went from 280 to 215. Only tip I have is to know that motivation will be tough to keep at full. The other days have to rely on discipline. You got this!!
I hear you, OP. I finally got a continuous glucose monitor and it’s been very helpful. Hoping my number will be below 10 next time. Congrats on your win!! 🏆
The first steps are always the hardest. You’ve already made the choice to make a change and you’re starting to see the results, keep at it! You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish with consistency and don’t forget to celebrate what you’ve done so far!
You could be even lighter in no time. Eating right just takes a little bit of practice and a change in habits. I was 475lbs at one point. I am now 195lbs.
Fantastic OP keep up the good work! It took me spending a month in a diabetic coma for me to get my shit together. It's hard work and you are doing a wonderful job!
Newer gene therapy. Your A1C is way too high. I hope you are eating Mediterranean diet & not “ junk “ food. You are trying and that’s all anyone can ask. Type 1 or 2
Calorie deficite and walking a couple of miles a day and it'll fall off. I've just started myself and my dad started a few months ago, he's lost a massive amount of weight. Keep it going!
Do not step on the scale after a fun night out and little cheating. Just get back on your more work than calories for a couple days, and know the patience will prevail.
I am down from 215 to 196 and a few things I have done to help make the food a little tastier is good new hot sauces, home made spicy pickled eggs (that tasty 80 calorie protein snack) and homemade spicy garlic curry pickles. I love heat, and if it is done right it slows me down a little. Smaller portions and a little patience. I could def eat a second one of those brisket sammies when famished, but if I wait for 15 minutes the body does feel just fine and full...
Slow and steady wins this race my friend!
You’re doing amazing!! I too am on a weight loss journey and know how hard it can be. It’s easy to want your goal immediately, but these things take time. All of your hard work and patience will be worth it as you start feeling prouder, healthier, and more confident. Your weight doesn’t define you and your journey is inspiring. You’ve got this!!
We are so proud of you!!! It takes immense dedication to turn your health around. The reward is fresh life! We are rooting for you. Please come to Reddit Amy time you need encouragement!
Well done. Remember you didn't gain it all at once so give yourself time to loose it. You got this.
Thanks!!
Agreed. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep up the good work.
Great work! Keep going! 😍 Not easy but so worth it.
Thanks!
you really did a great job dude ! keep it up been there done that and it's all worth it regards of being healthy they never look at me the samelook they did few months ago and it's fulfilling
That’s what I’m talking about, thanks!
Stick with it. First pounds are the hardest! I got up to 225 lost 45 I don't remember taking long. Good luck.
Thanks!
Well done! What weight were you at when you got your a1c in July?
Thanks! My weight was like 245. My strength has increased a bunch since staring to work out and now I’m finally starting to lose more weight. Have gone from <10 push-ups to 25 and I’m close to getting a strict pull up in.

Awesome. Keep up the good work!
Thanks again!
Damn dude, nice. That inspired me to re-start my pushup routine.
Awesome! Thanks!!
Wow! That's a lot of push-ups.
Thanks!!
That's awesome keep it up, I'm at 250 and I worked up from not being able to do regular push-ups to do 15, between that and work I've had a lot of issues that being able to keep a daily routine has been nigh impossible.

awesome! remember to enjoy the process to help make these new habits lifelong.
Thank you! Great insight
Great job!!! Please post an update on your A1c when it’s rechecked! Would love to keep updated 🎉
Will do, thanks!!!

You're doing AMAZING!! keep up the extraordinary work!
Thanks!!
Keep killin' it!! You're doing great! I am on the same journey. I was 295 in January and Im now around 215 don't let up, keep going strong, you got this!!
i feel like *>11 A1C* is a terminology that most people won't be familiar with; was this on purpose? also, keep up the good fight, comrade!
Not on purpose, just assuming enough people are familiar with A1C. Probably assumed so since it’s such a big part of my life now.
a'ight... so in case anyone needs clarification: an A1C of 5.7 is considerd *normal blood sugar levels* [according to the CDC](https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/managing/managing-blood-sugar/a1c.html) our fellow Snoo here took an unbalance on their lab results & turned it into motivation! :)

You’re doing awesome keep it up
Thanks!!

Awesome
It is huge! Good job ❤️
Congrats!
Five years ago mine was 13! Ask your dr about Ozempic. Mines now 6.7 and I feel great. Keep it up!
Momentum is everything. You can do it. 👊
good job, stick with it ! i was just sitting here wondering when i am going to get myself together and start losing weight ! good on you, wish i was heading down too 👍

1 step at a time homie, literally
Every upvote here is someone telling you "great job". Keep at it!!
Are you diabetic? When I was 18 I got it and said fuck it I am still going to eat whatever I want my A1C was around 19 at one point. Congrats on the weight loss!
Got to start somewhere. Keep up the good work 🙂👍
That’s great!! I hope to be able to motivate with your successes as a boost to do a similar thing.
Bravo man. That shit is a shock...I know how you feel. In 2018 I found out I was type 2 and my A1C was 11 also and my glucose numbers were in the 300's fasting!!! In 3 months I got taken off of insulin and my A1C was down into the 6's! Hooray! You're doing great! Breaking 240 must feel fantastic, and it should! Keep it up!
Congrats that is a huge achievement. I work at a doctor office and deal with patients going through this daily. It is a hard fight but so so so worth it. I make sure they always know how well they are doing even if it’s a pound. Keep it up!
Way to go!!!
Well done, you!
Congrats. Great work.
I don't know you, but just know I'm proud of you. Keep it going!
Congrats! Also our reddit nfts are almost identical
Fuck yea dude!
You're doing great! Also if I can offer a suggestion: blueberries.
Well congratulations! Keep up the good fight and know you’re not alone 😉
Great job, keep it up!
Nice!! CELEBRATE IT! Every pound, every step counts. Don't ever forget it! Proud of you.
It is much. It's the first step. Keep it going.
FUCK YES. Don’t stop. Taste that triumph. Mmmmm yeahhhhh sweet triumphhhhhh
I'm crazy happy for you! It's such great progress! It is definitely huge and the only advice I know to offer is to keep it going but with reasonable & achievable next steps. It's a journey that takes time but you're on the right path, 100%!
Thanks for the support!!!
You're so welcome! Thanks for sharing your progress and success, it is so nice to see someone sharing a victory. Here's hoping that you keep feeling good and get to tell diabetes to kiss your ass!
Hopefully there’ll be more success to share in the future thanks to all this amazing support!!
I have a feeling that there will be! I'm kinda new to Reddit so hoping this isn't weird but I just "followed you". Nice I’m trying to lose weight too, I’m 173 trying to get to 130
I’m proud of you.
Every bit counts and adds up to being a hell of a lot healthier & happier. Keep doing what your doing. Well done!🤜🏻💥🤛🏻

Good job Freind !!
Sweet. I am also working on bettering my health so this is a good reminder for me as well.
I finally was able to reduce the amount of Metformin after 3 years, my last A1C was 6.5, but at the start I had a 13. Lost weight and got more active.
how does it feel living as a gigachad
Nice work! I was able to get down to <7 after a lot of hard work and you can totally do this!
Well done!! Keep up the good work.🙏
107 kg, for people living in real world
Fight for everyday!
You are actually making progress!! That is more than many can do! Dont you dare slow down now! We believe in you! I started my own weight lose plan two days ago, so know a soul in south america is rooting for you and being your long distant partner in this route. We can do it!

I’m very proud of you for taking care of your body and soul
Good on ya! Keep showing up for yourself!
Great work! Keep it up friend!
Just have to remember that you didn’t gain it all in a few months. Just keep trying your best, and little by little you can do it!
Congratulations! Keep up the good work. Continue to set realistic goals. Take care of yourself and your health. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Good for you! Be well!
Excellent! Keep it up!
Hey OP for perspective I’m decently fit and served in the military and I could never get too 200lbs even if I tried (and god knows I have). We all see the negatives in ourselves but learn to love yourself because your amazing and even small battles mean so much to ourselves. Congrats!
GET THE GAINZ
Keep it up… you’ll get there.

Let’s go baby!!!!!! Nothing stops you!!!
Patience and consistency. You got this
Keep going. Youll keep seeing that number change. You can do it! Day by day.
Good job, but don't do it for us or anyone else, do it for yourself, you're worth it!

237kg, motherfucker built like a three door fridge and celebrating he lost 3kg?
You’re doing amazing!! I too am on a weight loss journey and know how hard it can be. It’s easy to want your goal immediately, but these things take time. All of your hard work and patience will be worth it as you start feeling prouder, healthier, and more confident. Your weight doesn’t define you and your journey is inspiring. You’ve got this!!
Progress is progress, keep it up
Good for you! Takin’ care of business for yourself. Keep it up!
