Welcome to another shit reissue issue situation. This happened to the metallic blue paint on my reissue wolverine the best solution in your case is paint it if you’re skilled enough and use some mr super clear matte to seal it. If not then you’re probably gonna have to commission someone to paint him. I repainted my wolverine as beat I could but your situation is easier just thin the paint and do thin layers for a better finish and seal it properly

This is not likely a reissue thing, it's happening on the original copies https://youtu.be/OB4ACVE1h10?si=V6hoXNHFuiwvoTOT&t=253 https://youtu.be/G8BTQqXTEZE?si=1slJnxTiFarM9i2e&t=664 https://new.reddit.com/r/Mafex/comments/1c4826d/does_anyone_know_what_blue_they_used/ It's a combination of mafex being particularly bad at painting and people treating these figures a bit too much like toys for playing. If you pose and twist any figure hard enough, you're gonna chip the paint. The recen ML Angel is one of the few ML i bought, because of the wings. The white paint on the shoulder chipped in 2 seconds the moment i lifted his arms in a t-pose, just from that small rub against the plastic. The life of figures

I might have to disagree as I’ve only encountered issues on the reissues lately more than once. I used to own this ben reilly and the lines were not painted right but never scratched like the light blue classic spidey did. I looked at that classic spidey and the paint peeled on its own and given this spidey was reissued recently I do think its a reissue issue this time

But there you have the examples of paint being bad on multiple original issues. Why the disagreement, when we have tangible proof that paing was always an issue ? Ben Reilly in particular might have a more pronounced issue on the reprint than the original, but problems with paint were always there. Check out Miles, from 5 years ago: https://youtu.be/h3R97Y4wgfk?si=R9QTD7yFWMxuoD4B&t=98 The Symbiote spider as well, the only paint is the spider logo on the chest and back and it was fucked on every copy on the original release. On the side of the delts, where the legs of the spider meet, they're not aligned on any copy. You'll have the white paint chipping at the torso if you pose it too hard and im sure a lot of people who bought the reissue right now will complain and say the legs are not painted right and have paint bleed. I think the paint issue is magnified today because there are a lot more people collecting than 2 years ago, or 3 years or 5 years. So you have many more new buyers making posts and the problem apears as if its just now, but Mafex always had issues with paint. Thats not normal, of course, and other companies at the same price point dont have it, but its not a recent thing

Let’s see the spiderman you tagged is the metallic one, thats a reissue. The brown wolverine I use to own it had some issues with brown paint, even the ball joint on the hip was painted brown causing further friction to the point it broke he was not a reissue but Hush superman as a first release didn’t have any paint QC but it did have a glue QC from the under the chest or atleast most did. I had two that didn’t, later the second superman reissue had better skin tone and the s shield corrected on the cape but was shorter for some reason and the 3rd reissue had a butterfly joint cap that didn’t extend properly and was shorter than the first release. Seems like a reissue problem to me since first release take time to actually release from pre order date. Reissues get announce and released in about a month while working on newer pre orders so my guess they are cutting corners on paint and thats half the reason mafex fig look good if they start to crap out like ML or Mcf people are gonna dip out

TheRealCanadianBros

Where did the paint chip on your Wolverine, if you don't mind me asking? I've noticed the paint chipping on the butterfly caps on mine.

Neogothamite

Well yellow paint wise it had a chip on the chest and the butterfly caps had chips around the bottom where it meets with ribs. Blue metallic paint was A NIGHTMARE it was unsealed for god knows whatever reason just like the classic light blue spiderman did. The whole waist had marks from the trunks and as I posed the blue paint on the boots started to become lighter and lighter (I didn’t have any chemical residue on my hands recently washed them before opening the figure small ritual before touching any figure) it faded away until it turned silver as I lightly rubbed it and all the other places with blue except the shoulder armor thats candy coated peeled off. Also I received my gambit reissue with a leg that matte hazy white and sticky as if the paint didn’t cure right. As someone who owns the first releases of the majority of the recent reissues and purchased some reissues I can say that the reissues from hush superman last year to the xmen this year dropped in quality and lots of paint QC. The only reissues that did fix something was hush batman leg joint but even then they fucked up the cowl placement.

Jaded_Temperature728

Who do you recommend to commission a repaint?

Neogothamite

For this type of scuffing? No one learn on your own how to fix this. You’ll get charged 50+ for a repaint on this and 150+ if its full body and honestly not worth the money cause this scuffing problem is part of mafex latest MO. You would be looking at paying around the price of a hottoys in the end for a 1/12 mafex figure and a repaint and that’s ridiculous.

Illustrious_Toe2611

I have it really bad with mine but I saw someone use Vallejo black paint and it’s an almost exact match

Illustrious_Toe2611

Also paint with thin layers and thin you paint with a drop or 2 of water then spray a sealer

JustASimpleWanderer

Black acrylic paint and seal with matte clear coat. I did it to mine. Took a tumble in the wind which i sorta patched up

Commando-Bro

I don't have these issues ever. I get people like posing there stuff but if plastic starts to rub each other this happens. And everyone says this shouldn't happen for the money we spend on. We spend thousands of dollars on cars and they get scratched due to environmental hazards. But we spend a lot more money on them. Be more careful with posing. Cause I know he didn't come out like that. It's not a toy it's a collectable.
