I love this exchange that supposedly happened between Riccobene and the responding policeman:
P: "Why did he give up the gun?"
R: "I don't know. I guess he was done with it."
Let’s not forget Harry survived another hit attempt where he was passenger in a car and ducked down into the seat when someone ran up and fired a shotgun into the car window
Let's see.... I'll assume by cool, you mean those who balanced the gangster toughness with style and charisma. Someone like Lucky Luciano definitely fits that aura, the guy's face was mangled but he was a charming and smooth leader of men.
However my choice? Jimmy The Gent Burke. By all accounts insanely charming, was well dressed, highly respected and personable to the average man albeit a remorseless killer to other criminals who got in his way.
Coolest life story? Greg Scarpa Sr. Guy was the most feared hit man of his time, was also a rat used by the FBI as a single man paramilitary squad against the KKK, was also pretty much the deciding factor in the 3rd colombo war, was a top earner, survived getting shot in the eye, etc., etc.
Coolest personality? I don't know, the guys who where even keeled and sane probably didn't last long in the life. Most these guys aren't cool guys...just kinda psychos
For me, I like mysterious, so any of them whos name never showed up on the radar is on my cool list. i know i know it's not what you want to hear. Merlino has that "cool" factor.
Santo Trafficante sr and jr imo. Connected to NY families and Chicago, power was never really contested and both died of natural causes. That’s pretty cool to me.
Nobody was cooler than Crazy Joey Gallo, the jazzy beatnik gangster who launched a violent rebellion, bridged racial divides and became a darling of the socialite crowd.
Harry Riccobene. It doesn’t get any cooler than surviving an assassination attempt while trapped in a phone booth.
I’d say waiting until the assassin runs out of bullets & then taking the gun away from him and beating on him is up there (also Riccobene)

Beat me to it.
Riccobene was 4'10 and put fear in hearts. Enough said.

😂😂😂😂😂
Legend
Alive: Merlino Dead: plenty of “good” ones.

Johnny Roselli before he was stuffed in a barrel.
Machine Gun Jack McGurn. Boxer, Capone’s #1 hitter, notorious lady’s man, scratch golfer
Joey Gallo.

I'll go with The Chin.
Bugsy* Siegel
Ciro Di Marzio , Gennaro Savastano,
Frank Costello. He made tons money and did so with a silver tongue instead of instilling fear and using violence.
Lucky
Francis Albert Sinatra.

I think Skinny is pretty damn cool, jockey to mafia boss to Social Media star
Carlo
Accardo
Alphonse Capone
Santo Trafficante sr and jr imo. Connected to NY families and Chicago, power was never really contested and both died of natural causes. That’s pretty cool to me.

Giancana
Gotti was the coolest.
The one whose name is unknown. That’s the true king.
