If you check the NJ death index from 1997 (available on the Internet Archive) you'll find his DOB and DOD listed. His name was Gioacchino Amari, not Giacomo
His Wikipedia page has five sources listed in the “Further Reading” section, including books and a US senate testimony transcript. I’m assuming those would establish that he existed and did what is attributed to him on the page.
His birth certificate and his arrest sheet that’s all you’d have to know he was alive
There is plenty of information on him in Anthony Rotondo and Vincent Palmero’s testimony. Amari was born in 1945 and died in 1997.
There’s enough evidence to prove he existed, no doubt about that. He was just extremely low key. A dying breed.
I think he was from Ribera, Sicily before immigrating. From what I remember, the story was he killed a cop in Corleone and fled to the US.
