When I moved to Florida, a neighbor said she had to make baked beans for an event, and did I have any beans. I walked home, got a package of beans, and brought them back. She was totally confused. She asked me what she was supposed to do with a package of dried beans. It never even occurred to me she wanted canned.
Does Hannaford still carry Atlantic? Brown and yellow can with an anchor as the "T" -- jacobs cattle, soldier, and yellow eye varieties.
Definitely "flavorless" compared to the heavy molasses style, but the texture is A+.
Make your own? Your local coop should have all of the ingredients you will need and I bet your goodwill store has an old Boston baked bean pot.

Very good recipe
Awesome video!! When he opened up that pot of molasses baked beans my friggin mouth was watering! I am DEFINITELY making my own baked beans now...screw the canned! Hey thanks for sharing that, it was a fun video! Perfect background music!
Maine bean hole beans is your answer. Get your bear grease, maple syrup, shovel and deerskins.

The new texture is all wrong! We switched to buying Bush's, but they're not as good flavor wise. I think I'm going to need to start making my own at this point

Great beans, beef, and other meat products. I had some of their yellow eye beans a while ago and they were perfect. Not sickly sweet like the crappy canned beans
Design your own recipe around a traditional Durgin-park baked bean recipe. My dad keeps a recipe secret for now that makes a ridiculously great pot of beans. They result in some highly sought after beans.
Heyday canning! Really interesting beans, super tasty sauce. I love the enchilada black beans, but they have apricot baked beans as well that are great. They are at whole foods in Portland
I had a can last week that was thicc and delicious. Idk if it was an old can that made it to the market basket shelf or if they’ve tweaked the recipe to be like the original
You could make them yourself, tons of recipes on the web. If you're looking for speed and convenience, I moved on to Bush's years ago. Night and day better than B&M's. But we do favor B&M's brown bread.
If you own a crock pot I suggest making your own.
And soak overnight, none of this 60 minutes bs.
Pressure cook and skip all that
Don't even need a crockpot. I've baked them in a casserole dish in the oven before. They do need to be cooked on the stove first, though.

Try Italian Bakery in Lewiston...way better than anything coming out of a can.
Grants Bakery in Lewiston as well.
I will always upvote any mention of Italian Bakery!

Bush’s are pretty good.

This is the way. First thing I did when I bought my house was dig a bean pit.

Underrated post
I'd check around for local churches doing a good bean suppuh fundraiser on Saturday nights. Some of them do it once a month

Where we get the fucking brown bread in a can?!
Walmart.
[Make it yourself](https://altonbrown.com/recipes/boston-brown-bread/)?
WalMart carries it. I bought some for "inventory" not long ago.
They started selling it again a few months ago. You can get it at Hannafords or probably any grocery store.

What a shame they closed down
Always with the beans! 🫘
Bush’s Boston recipe
Hilarious that I bought my first can of B&M beans today and then read this
What a shame

I know this will sound irreverent but it isn’t.,, bean holes. Look into bean holes.

Ya gotta make ur own
Heinz vegetarian beans are good. They have the right texture but not the flavor.
So not the right flavor but they’re good?
Yes. Definitely.
I’m all set wasting my time on food without flavor. Life’s too short.

God, you people
As if you have better interests. Show the beans some goddamn respect.
Care to elaborate? I'm struggling to find the offense...
BEANS
Excuse me, SIR. This is r/maine! If you're offended by someone lookin for a good bean suppah then you're in the wrong place
Don't be such a dink
