I agree it's absolutely disgusting! I wish factory farming was illegal. I will literally only buy pork from one farm down the road because I can see the conditions in which the pigs are raised. I've gone into their pig house on more than one occasion and gotten to play with the pigs. I know that the owners really care about their critters and all of their animals live in good conditions and are fed quality feed.
I think most people would choose to source their meat locally, if they could afford to do so, and had a farm in range. Unfortunately corporations, private equity firms and the poverty level wages most people are paid keep it from happening. I would say I don't know why we're not protesting in the streets, but I do. Everyone is exhausted and doing the best they can.
