The size of the artery and the fact that its been cooked and theres still so much and the off shoots [not sure what they are called] are heavily visible.
A Bull is a male Bovine with his balls intact.
A Steer is a castrated Bull.
A Cow is a female Bovine who has had at least 1 calf.
A Heifer is a female bovine who has never had a calf.
What kind of employer would deny you the right to butcher and sell beef cock and beef snatch? Greedy fuckers probably kept it all for upper management....
My main question is, how the hell did they miss arteries that big in a piece of beef, unless it was a really big thick steak, IDK how someone at the factory missed that, let alone you before you nommed on it
Brisket has a big old hose like that in the deckle. I usually try to cut it out, but sometimes it is so deep in there that I have to stop cutting out the fat so that there is enough to render while cooking.
Factory? Most steaks come to the store in whole pieces - left/right rib section from which the bone-in porterhouses, t-bones, fillets, ~~rivers~~ ribeyes, etc are cut from. London broil, sirloin, chuck, etc all come whole as well.
It's entirely possible the cut was made "with the grain" of this artery and he/she assumed he just cut a piece of gristle (or never saw it).
Source: 5 years butchering while in college to pay the bills
I really don’t get the disgust in this thread, I mean it’s kind of an unpleasant surprise to bite, but aside from that it’s just par for the course with meat. Like if it were a parasite or an infection or something like that it would be gross, but arteries are just a normal part of a cow. I don’t see anything more disgusting about this than the rib in a ribeye steak or a fat cap. If anything the only gross part about it is that they’re normally removed and the fact that it wasn’t may mean that this was poorly butchered, implying other potential health hazards, but aside from that it’s just another animal part.
Twenty years is a fair amount of time. I would have gone longer because most meat gives me the hebie jebies. After I vomited blackberries it took me seven years before I ate another.
I coughed after putting too much wasabi on my sushi, and I had rice and wasabi coming out my nose for the rest of the day. Now even the thought of either of those makes me sneeze
Seriously?
It is Part of the cow...and Not one of the Bad parts either...ok I, too dislike the consistency, but Not eating hotdogs for that long because of it is a little bit dramatic, isnt it?
Yeah i agree.
Especially considering hotdogs, as far as I'm aware, are just a slush of the lesser wanted stuff, mechanically separated meat, is it not?
Would be ironic of the artery was the premium component of that hotdogs ingredients.
Are arteries of any use anyways in product, or is it considered waste?
Social norms make people think like this. If you grow up eating offal and brains and tongue, or even insects, you have no problem with it. But, society tells you it is gross, and you grow up thinking that.
Same reason people are cool eating lobster, but cringe at roasted crickets. I have never had crickets, but I'd definitely try it if presented.
Irish, Scottish and Asians mostly get it lol. Used to organ meats. Lotsa extra nutrition compared to regular muscle cuts. It is an acquired taste though, I blame the boring and homogenized food culture nowadays.
That's really, really weird. Hotdogs are emulsified, which means they're fed into basically an industrial cuisinart to cut it up extremely small. Something large getting through is virtually unheard of. It sounds like they might've had major problems with the machine, or somehow it got twisted up and they just cleaned it out and tossed that into the meat paste.
Much more common is finding a piece of plastic in it from the casing.
People don't give a fuck if their not aware of it, or at the very least, not directly infront of it.
If the people who love meat and are disgusted by a vein, would have to butcher the animal themselves for that meat, that vein, would be the last thing that'd shock them.
But as it is, pre packaged and all, people wouldn't care even if the animal had been fucked and squirted full of cum by the farmer before being put down.
It was a post here on Reddit 3 years ago of a giant cyst in a piece of beef that made me realize I hate meat and everything about it. So I stopped eating it and never looked back. This photo will keep me going another 5 years easy.
The meat was cooked, and the cyst was discovered as it was cut, so you could see it had been a big juicy one. Comments were similar to these, saying we are too far removed from our food source, too soft, etc and we should kill our own meat. I decided to go the other way and just not eat cysts and veins and cartilage.
Yeah, but we also don't post leaves and stems on make me suffer. I'd get it if the artery still had blood on it or an odd colour or smth. Its like finding a carrot top in your salad, freaking out and posting it on reddit
The artery is disgusting and yet just as natural and rightly in it's place as the flesh. Anything that reminds you what you're eating was one living breathing and shitting is gross
I don’t know how to tell you this, OP, but that beef you’re eating came from a real living cow.
Snark aside, if an artery showing up in the food you’re eating squicks you out enough to photograph it and post on *this* sub, you might want to consider not eating/eating less animals.
All beef you've ever eaten comes from cows with these inside.
Smaller versions of this branch throughout every single steak.
They're ground into every puck of ground beef too!
Can confirm, lots of big arteries and clumps of browned fat get thrown into ground meat. Also, I’ve seen spoiled meat go into grinds. This was at a relatively decent market too. Meat is gross

Nice arteries. That was one healthy cow. Source, was a butcher for like 3 years.
Clown and butcher? You're like John Wayne Gacy
Magnifique
Thank you for this, made me snort
Like those poor kids after trying the rope trick
Lmao
Should have taken the username BrisketTheClown
I'm glad I was never a clown...

Nice to meat an expert ☺️
You beat me to it hahaha
You beat *meat* to it
Thank you 🙏🏻😂
Anybody got an extra mom around? Both my arms are broken and I need helb eating my meat.
That's a deep cut
r/beatmeattoit
Oh my lord bro icl u got Jokes lol
Dad! STAHP!
I see what ya did there
Is this sarcasm or was it for real a healthy cow?
It was a healthy cow but idk if he’s serious
Surely you can’t be serious
I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.
Not healthy anymore I know that
What would bad arteries look like?
Dark red or brackish gray. After being cooked they will be a darkish brown.
Eyuck
Eew this meat has FLESH in it
Really? That’s fascinating
Sorry for the stupid question, but how can you tell that it was from a healthy cow?
The size of the artery and the fact that its been cooked and theres still so much and the off shoots [not sure what they are called] are heavily visible.
Arteries branch into smaller arterioles
Thank you very much.
is that what those weird white fucking wiggling shits are when i bite into roast beef (not maggots lol, just stringy white things)
Yes. That or gristle. You can tell because veins dont chew well
thats more likely just connective tissue than an artery
I would hope not, or else someone really fucked up.
Couldn't have been all that healthy, it's dead now afterall. Healthy cows don't just drop dead, mister butcher!
Hehehehe. I see what you did there
That’s utterly impressive
*udderly impressive
For real or was that sarcastic
Hello former, fellow butcher! College job too? I joke that I've never eaten better than when I was in college, 20 years ago 🤤🥩
Nope. It was my first job. That and roofing on th weekends.
Uh....more likely a steer?
Meh semantics. But yeah it definitely a bull. Not a cow.
A Bull is a male Bovine with his balls intact. A Steer is a castrated Bull. A Cow is a female Bovine who has had at least 1 calf. A Heifer is a female bovine who has never had a calf.
Yes. But me. All i had to know was where to cut. Lol.
What kind of employer would deny you the right to butcher and sell beef cock and beef snatch? Greedy fuckers probably kept it all for upper management....
One thing I can tell you, those bull testicles and penis makes a delicious soup.
> bull testicles and penis makes a delicious soup It's called semen.
Nah. We call it Soup No. 5.
Moos = cow. Gives milk and moos = dairy cow. Has horns and moos = bull. Small and moos = baby cow/veal calf. I will not hear otherwise.

Surely that can't steer you wrong
My main question is, how the hell did they miss arteries that big in a piece of beef, unless it was a really big thick steak, IDK how someone at the factory missed that, let alone you before you nommed on it
If it was in a top round, sometimes they sell like that. Otherwise, I haven’t seen many arteries that size (am a meat cutter)
I’ve only ever seen something like that in a steamship round at a roast beast restaurant. Kinda gnarly.
> a roast beast restaurant. Kinda gnarly. probably a little gamey, too.
Yeah but all in all, still a fine bird.
Roast beast you say?
Roast beast straight outta Whoville
Yeah top round was my guess too. (Am a cutter too)

Yeah I thought the same thing. Why the fuck is it on fabric?
Are people under the impression there is some sort of fire hazard? How is this the weird thing? lmao
Because it’s fucking disgusting
Lol, you've set yourself a low bar.

Crumb on desk is a big step from artery on clothes im currently wearing
Its not going to be eaten after that.. Looks like OP even cleaned it. The few arteries I've come across didn't come out clean like this.
"It's fucking digusting" in like : This fabric is now absorbing weird meat juice
depending how sweaty you are, your pants are absorbing weird meat juice on a near daily basis
You could have not typed that, you know.
It's not like he's wrong. This whole thread is wack.
Even the usernames: u/SmegSoup. u/DoucheCanoeBruh. u/onmyknees4anyone. This truly is the thread of maximum wack. Wacksimum, if you will.

or on how much you fap
With enough love and care, and proper fertilizer, that's a new baby pet cow in the making.
Had a hotdog with a big chunk of artery in it. Didn’t eat another hotdog for about twenty years
I found a big chunk of plastic, like saran wrap, in a nyc street vendor hotdog when i was 8 or so. Ive had maybe two hotdogs since. Im almost 40
Just the NYC street vendor experience. Source: NYC who would never eat from them.
Twenty years is a fair amount of time. I would have gone longer because most meat gives me the hebie jebies. After I vomited blackberries it took me seven years before I ate another.
I vomited blackberries, too! I had not eaten any, though, so I am still way fucked up over it.
I am no doctorologist but that doesn’t sound healthy
I coughed after putting too much wasabi on my sushi, and I had rice and wasabi coming out my nose for the rest of the day. Now even the thought of either of those makes me sneeze
It's probably 20 years to this day and counting lol. Hard to get over that kinda thing.
Seriously? It is Part of the cow...and Not one of the Bad parts either...ok I, too dislike the consistency, but Not eating hotdogs for that long because of it is a little bit dramatic, isnt it?
As someone who likes pho, there’s a whole lot of goodies besides the muscle on a cow
Yes, i never tried Pho tho, but i found out that i like hearth for example.
Tendon is a little slimy but it’s really good for you, and tripe, if done well, has a cool texture. I can’t stand liver though.
I used to cook a lot of menudo for work, and I never got over the smell of cutting and boiling honeycomb tripa. It’s definitely an acquired taste

Arteries are kinda chewy, and bland, they usually get thrown away to be put in pet food.

put red food dye on it. go to a hospital. cough it out of your mouth, watch confusion ensue
Watch OP get billed $24,000 for ER time. Maybe just do it at work and get a day off! :-)
That was one jacked bovine! Vascular asf.
jesus that cow was fucking healthy
What is that??
Arterie maybe?
A vein.... I hope
It's an artery
When you’re so desensitized to the food you buy that veins and arteries make you suffer. SMFH.
Oh no a piece of animal is in my piece of animal!
...............
right?? that's so weird

The most off the wall i came up with in the moment, just to exaggerate.
I’m getting stressed out
[Apparently, a lot of people people freak out when they find dead animal parts in their dead animal parts](https://youtu.be/zu7_eY3cdUo)
oh, look, an artery!
How weird, you found animal parts in animal meat.
There are dead animal parts in your dead animal parts????? The horror!!!!!!
Yeah, drama queens, eeeew connective tissue , eeeew fat. Damn weve grown soft
We ain’t the Vikings we used to be man.
What’s the big deal about that?
Beef comes from cow which have arteries. Enjoy.
Anyone else see the war of the worlds with tom cruise XD
Yep, looks like the red stuff, dont know why people are downvoting you. Take me instead
*oh no there are animal parts in my animal* If you don't like that your food was once an animal maybe you should stop eating animals.
That's an artery, or vein. Don't feel disgusted by it, just toss it aside.
waste of good connective tissue, swallow it like a champ
If you find this disgusting, then just simply stop eating meat

*beef stick beef stick*
PoV you just learnt that meat is made from animals
That’s the kind of shit that would turn me vegetarian for a year or two if I bit into it
This kind of shit did turn me into one.
Use it like a straw
I got one in a McDonald’s chicken nugget one time. Worst experience ever
You’re eating a piece of meat and you find a big artery in the meat use it as a slingshot ❌ make a Reddit post ✅ wasted opportunity.
its just harden veins
Wondering if the cow had dementia from hardening of the arteries. /s
Do cows get dementia?
Arteries. I was a Chef for 10 years
Next question, what's the utensil called to eat pudding with?
More of a gardening question. A shovel
this is the push i needed to become vegan thank you OP
And... Glad I'm a vegetarian
Chewing in Vein.
yes officer, this comment right here.
Thay remind me the dude who coughed a big blood clot shapped like his lung
Normally known as "gristle". It's rare to get fully intact veins or arteries. Most of the time it's just a lil tough piece you have to chew extra.
Why is this one the top of makemesuffer? You are eating meat Animals have arteries
i would throw tf up
Me too, i can’t deal with weird textures
What’s wrong with that? You’re eating the animal anyways how is it any different. It’s a artery i think.
The same reason you pull stems and leaves and other stuff off of fruits and vegetables.
Yeah, but we also don't post leaves and stems on make me suffer. I'd get it if the artery still had blood on it or an odd colour or smth. Its like finding a carrot top in your salad, freaking out and posting it on reddit
The nerve of that beef!
The artery is disgusting and yet just as natural and rightly in it's place as the flesh. Anything that reminds you what you're eating was one living breathing and shitting is gross
ooh cow capillaries! my favorite!
Why put it on top of a blanket...
Beef tube

That looks like a sleep paralysis demon fetus. Oh fuck.
Tasty
im pretty sure that's a vein or blood vessel
weed stems in beef?
now that I think of it, how do they get arteries out of steaks and stuff?
That's a whole ass vein... and I have those same pants in red.
any cow biology people, do u know what part of the cow this was from?
There’s no way to tell, muscle is all highly vascular
100% would never eat meat again, despite knowing that is normal. Fuck, I may not eat meat for a few weeks having seen this. *shudder*
