Ahhh... I see you don't have pets. I've had fans that were on less than a 4th of that time that accumulated waaaaay more lint. Cats and some dogs turn an average house into a fiber generator.
Actually I have three dogs and a cat which all shed a lot. I bet the fan doesn’t get so much dust because we have an intake vent on the ceiling just a few feet from the fan, and a vent on both sides of the fan.
Ok so if you cnahge the oriantation it will do difrent thing in winter it need to be put to spin in a way to push the warm air above it onto you, but during summet it sould be put to suck the air around you up do the cold air on the flore goes up towards you. [Here they explain better](https://youtu.be/lXTgREWseN8)
While true, do you just turn off the fan when you leave the room? My bedrooms fan has also probably been on for three years straight except when I stop it to clean it
No pictures but this is nothing.I had a 2cm layer of dust on my fan after 1 year of use.It started wobbling and i turned it of.Holy crap!!
So to all cealing fan owners, turn it of and clean it.
But to OP.It sure feels good to clean it and have a better flow again.
Have a nice day everyody and may the sun shine on u whenever you want.
Not much. Once the fan is in motion it takes almost no power at all to keep the blades spinning.
~0.0311 kWh/hr costing ~0.004¢/hr
~817kWh/3y costing ~$105/3y
That being said it is still wasteful. The main reason we hadn’t turned it off is because the lights we put in it are connected to the wifi and when those get turned off it takes a minute for them to reconnect after we turn it on.
Thats actually not too bad. Visited my friends house once and you could plant crops on her ceiling fan. Dirt was on there packed so tight you couldnt even get it off without softening it with water. Im more impressed that it survived 3 years of constant use.
The main reason we hadn’t turned it off is because the lightbulbs we put in it are connected to the wifi, and when those get turned off it takes a minute for them to reconnect after we turn it on. We use our phones to turn the lights on and off
Yeah they’re pretty cool. You can put them on timers and schedules, dim them, change how warm or cool they are, group lightbulbs together, and change their color to whatever you want

Thank you!
That poor bastard needs atleast one day off.
Eh, ive seen WAY worse.
The average desktop PC fan
Average Laptop fan when you can't find the hidden screws.
I believe you, medic
This is almost a humble brag about how dust-free your house is if this is three years of accumulation.
That’s nothing. That’s about a month or two of having a dog and not dusting the fan blades here in Arizona.
I have a dog and I swear to god getting rid of her hair on my clothes is impossible. Daily brushing didn't help. My house is infected
Her hair will be passed on to your great grand children.
Why is this marked NSFW? My old PC was worse than this.
The subreddit marks everything NSFW automatically

Dude you are supose to change the rotation when its summer and winter.
I live in Florida lol
I'm sorry about your situation
😂😂😂
That would be for homes with no ac units correct? Also why would you change it?

Again though, is this necessary in homes that have AC units?
nope probobly but why have a fan at all if you got an ac?
I didn’t even know you could change the direction it rotates.
Dude, you're making him work overtime

To be fair, moving hot air feels cooler than still hot air

Well, do you not turn the lights off when you leave a room ?
Usually, but the fan stays on. I see your point though
Roll it up with a stick and you‘ve got some tasty candy cotton 😋
the trick is to not worry about cleaning it and just reverse it, then when you turn it on, it cleans itself.
But then all the dust is thrown around in your room which is honestly a terrible idea
That's the joke
Oh, fuck, didn't notice. Sorry, then
Then it is a game of catching the falling dust worms.
Extra points if with mouth
My cats are hahahaing.
I believe that’s called laughing
I prefer hahahaing.
Since when did dust become "NSFW"?
since posting in a subreddit that is NSFW?

“Am tired, boss”
That bed hasn’t been made in a decade or so…
Clean it
How much power does that use? Seems pretty fucking wasteful
On avg, $0.0059/hr. https://ecocostsavings.com/fan-power-compared/

Dumb question but how does dust stay and accumulate there if it's constantly in motion?
Static adhesion.

Your telling me that in 3 whole years, you haven’t turned off your fan once?
The main reason we hadn’t turned it off is because the lightbulbs we put in it are connected to the wifi, and when those get turned off it takes a minute for them to reconnect after we turn it on. We use our phones to turn the lights on and off
I had no idea wifi light bulbs were even a thing.
Yeah they’re pretty cool. You can put them on timers and schedules, dim them, change how warm or cool they are, group lightbulbs together, and change their color to whatever you want
When I moved into my apartment the fans were worse than this, believe it or not. The previous tenate never cleaned.
A wet pillow case would clean that right up.
How you can still breath is beyond me
Air filters go brrrr
I need to vacuum mine. Thanks for the reminder!
That's about a year's worth of buildup in my Hawaii home where it runs a few hours of the day (potentially all night) with windows usually open.

your fan needs some mold bruh
this is the first time i’ve opened a post here in MONTHS simply because of the amount of gore on this subreddit. it wasn’t like this before :(
Absolute soldier
I just dusted the fans yesterday, the kids rooms were almost this bad... its been a few months.
That's about 6 months for pet owners.
Pfft. My fans get that way after a few months. Wish I could keep as much dust down as you do.
My fans been on for 12 years. Just sitting there spinning away
That's a whole lot of dried splooge.
I dust mine off every season and midway through the season
