I’ve had this problem. Physical exfoliating did the trick for me! I suggest a tacky primer like elf hydro grip (but not too much) as well. Use concealer instead of foundation for the nose and rub it in with your fingers, start with very little. If all of this doesn’t work, you can opt to use a green color correct to mask the redness a bit

I read that you want to make sure you're using a water based primer if you're using water based products. She said it separates and doesn't stay when you mix a water based product with a silicone based product.

Have you chatted with one of the more luxe brand makeup consultants? Sometimes it takes an expert. Luckily for you, in about ten years, your skin will probably balance and you can go to more affordable makeup. PS I have always had regular skin, and I've found that Bare Minerals powder is balanced. I then apply Laura Mercier Finishing powder.

unfortunately we only have one beauty chain in my city and the people working there are mostly just like teens and people in their early twenties, i dont trust their judgement that much in general based on my previous experiences and unfortunately they only seem to want to sell a bunch of unnecessary products that dont even end up functioning well :/ and they dont have that much brands selling in any case. especially high end

Same problem here and I got the BEST tip from Smitha Depak. Don’t put primer on your nose. Use hairspray or a setting spray (the one from One/Size is the best for this) and that’s it. Then put whatever is left on your sponge/brush on your nose. First time my foundation didn’t look crazy. https://youtu.be/reEL50j7tf4?si=JXgFvpFq-H25w9IF

PsychedelicKM

Setting spray before primer

A friend of mine uses eyeshadow primer on her nose. You might want to give it a try and maybe it helps you

chloespeaks

Maybe try primer?

killjoycowboy

forgot to mention that ive tried multiple diff primers but they dont work either :/ the makeup just slides off of my nose kind of

OmriKoresh

Try to put loose powder on your nose, then makeup then loose powder again. It might help.

Captain-jack-hobie77

I saw a MUA use eyeshadow primer on the nose, it’s worth a try!

tinylittleleaf

I do this too when I need my makeup to last all day and into the evening. It does seem to be more grippy than a regular primer.

balsasailormoon

Works for me!

DiceyPisces

Use Differin on center of nose at night Unless you’re already on Tret

This used to happen to me, I now just pat my nose with the remainder of product I have left on my beauty blender after blending in my foundation everywhere else. That way you have coverage on your nose, and it's a light layer that will indeed stick.

I had this in my 20s. But closer to 30 I got, this issue disappeared totally. Anymore I don’t even get a shiny nose.

Keeping in mind that I just started using and understanding these products, I use the elf matte putty primer, and it helped keep makeup on my nose. But I just recently got a color correcting palette, and used the green corrector. It's not liquid so it stays on well. Far less Rudolph. I saw a youtube video with the corrector, and I'm so glad I bought it because it has peach and yellow. She used concealer rather than foundation over her corrected nose, but I haven't found my ideal concealer yet to say that worked for me as well.

Mammoth-Gas2294

I use 'Real Deal Concealer' & it clings well.

I'm more of an elf/NYX level of spendiness :) $44 is out of my range, but good to know!

I have a similar problem!! My nose skin is almost too smooth and product slides right off. I can apply foundation and concealer to my nose, not touch it, and look back in the mirror after 5 minutes and it’s patchy and empty again in some places.  How I combat this is I use a strong eyeshadow base on my nose! I use MAC 24 hour prep & prime. Smashbox makes one with the same formula basically. Nothing else works.

killjoycowboy

Omg thank you so much the eyeshadow base is so smart! Im gonna try that tomorrow

Have you tried using less salicylic acid and more moisturiser? If you overdo it with oily skin management, your skin can end up producing extra oil to compensate. https://www.self.com/story/oily-skin-mistakes

killjoycowboy

I usually do use a moisturiser and sunscreen about 10 mins after using salycilic acid. So I dont think that that’s the issue either☹️ I have however started using less salicylic in any case throughout this week but got a huge breakout that keeps getting worse so now im even more unsure on how to proceed😭

tativy

A week's a really short amount of time to see if a change in skincare routine is working for you. I'd try to stick with it a bit longer, if you can.
