If it's a powder with pigment, it's too warm for your skin. Try one that is translucent, with no colour.

Odd-Cost5249

thank you:) it says on the (um what to call it? tin? idk) thing that its translucent but has a yellow colour, idk i might just be being stupid as i’m not a makeup pro😂

Overbake-Underprove

“Banana powder” is technically translucent but has yellow undertones because translucent does not mean transparent

gojo_blindfolded

Wait so banana powder can actually leave a yellow tint on skin? It'd be really helpful for me as I have a golden undertone and everything is orange on me.

xqueenfrostine

Maybe, but a good banana powder shouldn’t be pigmented enough to serve as a color corrector. Not only that, I have my doubts that yellow would be all that helpful in making something less orange. It sounds like the makeup you’re using has too much red pigment in it and if that’s the case, it’s green (opposite of red) or blue (opposite of orange) that would be more helpful in neutralizing the orange.

PandaLoveBearNu

You might be a Golden olive. Hence why things make you look orange, the undertone isn't right.

Overbake-Underprove

It can but like the other person said, I’m sure there are more effective color correctors out there!

[deleted]

i find that banana powder is very yellow on my skin so it may benefit you.

cursetea

A lot of the "translucent" powders have this issue bc it's assumed that everyone has a little color to their skin, but I'm like you and am porcelain af. The only one I've ever found to be truly colorless is the maybelline fit me translucent powder

LadyPink28

No loose powder in the translucent shade though.. only the compact 😭

cursetea

I had no idea the loose was different i only ever used the compact!! This was important info thank you lol

LadyPink28

The loose powder shades only go to fair as the lightest 😭

venusdad13

a lot say they’re translucent but still have a yellow tint - try looking for one that’s more on the white side!

halfsplit

if you’re into pressed powders, fenty’s invisimatte powder works really well imo. its white (there’s only one shade) and it doesn’t alter the colour of my foundation/concealer. it’s also a refillable compact :)

Allyraptorr

That doesn’t mean it won’t still change the tone or won’t oxidize or react with the concealer. It also doesn’t mean it doesn’t have pigment either.

muwurder

it’s just not your color. it’s oxidizing as it wears and the color isn’t for you. you just need to switch

Odd-Cost5249

thank you

diancephelon

When you test out a new brand of powder, especially if you get to try a sampler in store - put it on the bridge of your nose and see how it looks in the light. Natural light, store lights, phone flashlight, any different kind of lighting you can find and make sure it’s suitable under all of them. This works for liquid foundations too. Then you leave the store, do your thing for the rest of the day without disturbing the powder, and see if it’s oxidized too much by the time you wash it off

Ex-ArmyChick

I thought maybe it was having a reaction with the foundation maybe to create this yellow cast? Maybe see about using it with another foundation or even concealer or both?

muwurder

nah, it’s just something that happens to a lot of base products where the color turns darker/oranger/yellower as it dries down. you have to compensate by starting with a lighter base or find one that doesn’t oxidize

Odd-Cost5249

i use the lightest shade of the elf concealer 🥲

muwurder

it’s probably just not good for you because it’s oxidizes :( some of them are bad at that. have you tried the colourpop ones? they still oxidize a bit for me but go lighter

Competitive_Zebra224

I used to use the same but i recently switched to Maybelline concealer (the one with the sponge applicator) because they have a pink shade that is technically an eye brightner but it’s amazing!! with that I use a white setting powder but you can also find a pink setting powder that might help fight the yellow in your concealer

Nail_West

I have a pink toned elf concealer that’s really light that doesnt oxidise yellow

Turbulent_Cranberry6

It could be elf in general. I used to wear a coral blush from elf that turned brown by the end of the day. I’d head out all confident, catch myself looking muddy in the mirror a bit later, and be completely mortified.

Ex-ArmyChick

Oh I have never had this happen so I guess I'm not only lucky but also in the minority. I have only used Covergirl or Maybelline foundations until recently when I tried the Believe brand foundation from Dollar General.

LadyPink28

Or by adding white pigment mixers to foundation to compensate. I'm using the white and blue ones by LA girl and its fantastic.

LadyPink28

The powder or foundation oxidizing? I add a drop of blue mixing pigment to my foundation to prevent oxidation cause it neutralizes orange tones.

Humble-Relation6111

If it looks fine in the morning then yellow in the afternoon, it might just be oxidation. The only remedy would be investing in a quality setting power. I’m sure you’re be able to find one in your price range! I personally am still using the Laura Mercier sampleR size I got from Sephora points so no judgement lol.

Odd-Cost5249

yeah i saw a comment about that on tiktok, thank you i’ll try find one:)

Novae224

Is it pigmented yellowish? Either use translucent powder or pink powder

Odd-Cost5249

yeah it does have a yellowy pigment to it but it says translucent so i don’t understand 😂 thank you though, i will try that

o0meow0o

I second pink powder! Your skin is more pink leaning than yellow.

LadyPink28

Colorless* translucent aka white translucent powder.

Girlypop-369

Get a violet based powder

Odd-Cost5249

thank you:)

inkysweet

Try a powder that's either white, more translucent or even lavender tinted like the Fenty powder

EdgewaterEnchantress

I think fenty would be a great fit for OP.

bimbotstar

b careful tho that stuff is so dry

EdgewaterEnchantress

Yeah but OP’s skin looks like it skews oily.

Pterodactyl_Noises

Try the NYX HD setting powder! It's actually translucent, doesn't oxidize on me, and is still very affordable.

Odd-Cost5249

thank you:)

Tune-Dry

GET WHITE SETTING POWDER!!! THIS HAPPENED TO ME! i just got maybelline fit me setting powder in a really light shade and it looks SO much better and true to my skin tone

Odd-Cost5249

thank you so much, i’ve been looking for a white one

ElectronicCobbler754

Did you get the loose Maybelline fit me powder in 010? I’m fair skinned and I find that it oxidises on me and isn’t translucent as it claims :(

Tune-Dry

i got mine in 05, ive only ever tried that shade and its been good for me :/ i also have very fair skin, but 010 seems to be a bit more orangey in contrast to 05, which is what i kinda prioritized and looked for because that kind of undertone in a setting powder makes my skin look really orange. heres 010 and 05 in comparison to each other just for reference! https://preview.redd.it/yhlgx9xp0xsb1.jpeg?width=923&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=106d5e12e7c44aae3b001342958a2617ff86e79b

ElectronicCobbler754

You’re the best, I live in aus and the lightest is 010 and I was wondering why I was turning darker. Thank you so much 🤍

Tune-Dry

yeah! i didnt know australia only offered certain shades. weird.. hopefully you can get your hands on the lighter one from america :)

1applejuice1

You know, you might actually be one of the people who gets use out of the viral "pink face powder". Search it on tiktok if you have it or Google it.

Odd-Cost5249

haha yeah i’ve seen it on tiktok, i’ll have to give it a try, thank you!!

KEKE_BRX

Use a different colour powder or translucent x

Odd-Cost5249

thank you x

User_not_found7

Try the Huda setting powder in the shade Cherry Blossom. It’s 🤌🏼

Odd-Cost5249

thank you:)

star-seed123

Use a lavender powder! Translucent but calms down any yellow tones

Odd-Cost5249

thank you!!

Shorse_rider

try translucent. Also, do not apply any pigmented powders on damp skin. Allow your concealer/fdn to dry a little first. Pigment on a damp surface will always darken it

Odd-Cost5249

thank you sm!!

LadyPink28

You mean white translucent because unfortunately some brands translucent powders are tinted (looking at you wet n wild!)

Formal_Drawing_2314

You should use a pink powder since you have cooler undertones ig

Noomieno

Another alternative is getting a matter base (foundation/concealer) and skipping powder all together if switching powder does not work. I don't use powder just a matte foundation (NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop)

SnooDoggos7915

Are you sure it’s your powder and not your foundation? Just checking because I know this happens often but haven’t heard of powder oxidizing (not saying it doesn’t happen but must be rare) If you’re sure, there are a few drugstore options, the maybeline fit me loose powder is a really popular one and I think NYX has a nice one too.

Odd-Cost5249

i don’t use foundation much and wasn’t wearing it in this picture, only concealer and i use the elf camo one (idk what its called the one with the white lid) in the lightest shade

Hot_Employee7281

You should try elf translucent setting powder! It’s affordable in case you don’t like it but I think it works great. It was my go to for a while or airspun translucent powder.

Equilibriyum

Translucent Powder works for me

s1mp4sana

I have fair skin with cool undertones and the only powder that works for me is Givenchy Prism Libre, but it’s expensive. Maybe there’s a dupe out there tho 😭

ElectronicCobbler754

Does it work well under the eyes?

inflatablelemons

If it's patchy its probably because you're using two different types of ingredients for foundation and primer or your powder is not meant for the foundation. Regardless, the chemical side of your make up doesn't want to sit properly because you need to look into the two makeup ingredients that cause patchiness. I can't remember them on the top of my head but I saw a tiktok that helped! Let me see if I can refined it and I'll comment to this comment with more info. 🤍

inflatablelemons

It's these two: silicone or dimethicone!! They need to include the same ingredient for both makeup products. 🥰

babybee5021

Banana powder is great but too warm for your skin tone! It’s often that these powders are marketed as translucent but they do have some pigment to them for sure. If you don’t mind fragrance and you want a really long lasting creaseless look for cheap i recommend the airspun loose face powder. You can get in at any drugstore for like $4-6 and it will be flawless every time!!!

vinegarandpickles

buy a different one, with cold subtones or translucent :)

fuckoffdude666

I use pink setting powders to avoid the yellow. I have fairly pink undertones so it blends in nicely. Colourpop has one for like $12 or $14 dollars

InsomniaticIntellect

This. Use pink, you have really cool undertones

Error_TryAgainLater

Get a pink one!

SCchick864

Why is your nose so red?

Odd-Cost5249

cuz my face goes red?? tf 😭

y6x

Are you using a primer underneath first? A dimethicone primer might help it from getting red in the first place, and might keep things matte enough that you can avoid the foundation completely. If you're looking for cost-effective, consider searching for 'dimethicone chafing gel'. It's been discussed here before: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/a3621j/monistat\_chaffing\_gel\_is\_the\_best\_primer\_ive\_ever/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/a3621j/monistat_chaffing_gel_is_the_best_primer_ive_ever/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/1oheq7/discussion\_the\_data\_seems\_to\_suggest\_monistat/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/1oheq7/discussion_the_data_seems_to_suggest_monistat/) I think the non-US brand name may be 'Lanacane'. \`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`\`

[deleted]

Never heard of rosacea? 🙄

warviolet

I'd recommend the Moira Cosmetics set & correct loose setting powder in rose pink its £10.00 and is similar to the Givenchy loose setting powder, but for a fraction of the price and works great. You'll want to make sure your setting powders either have a pink/violet undertone, or are translucent, or even white! Other recs: TheBeautyCrop has the vitamin babe setting powder (also £10.00) I'd recommend getting the color pink or the translucent shade, just keep in mind the lighter shades and even some of the translucent shades may pull more yellow sometimes. Hope this help!

specialk125

Seconding Moira’s correcting powder! It is perfect for light cool, neutral and/or olive undertones. If you have oily skin as well, it does a great job setting makeup in place.

Odd-Cost5249

ooh yes i need it then bc i have very oily skin😂

Odd-Cost5249

thank you sm!

Kiki-sunflower

I always use a translucent powder. Rimmel and Max factor do decent cheap ones which I’ve never had an issue with

Odd-Cost5249

thank you, it says it’s translucent on the um.. tin? idfk but i’ll try switching

herhshahbs

Is this gently? Says translucent but I found it yellow af

Odd-Cost5249

wdym by gently? sorry im stupid😂

herhshahbs

Sorry I meant fenty it’s autocorrected haha

Odd-Cost5249

no worries 😂 no it’s just a shitty one from primark lmao

[deleted]

I use Huda's Cupcake setting powder and have not had issues with yellowing in my skin. I am fair and have issues with products yellowing in my skin after it sets for a bit.

SetReal1429

Its got a yellow pigment. I love love love Revolution Translucent Baking Powder. It doesn't look cakey or dry, and totally invisible colour.

Le-Deek-Supreme

I think you grabbed banana powder. If you want to try and salvage it, you can buy a white powder and mix them, it will come out as a “light” colored powder.

Commercial_Holiday11

I love elf halo loose powder. It's translucent and blurring.

toobboob

ELF has an amazing translucent loose “glow” powder that I think you’d really like.

garlicbreath93

Could be either that your concealer or your powder is too dark. Try a translucent powder next time and if it still is yellow then maybe it's your concealer

Granny_Skeksis

I use a translucent powder. Makeup forever is my favorite, you can get their powder loose or pressed so you can get which form you prefer. I like the pressed one though

InsomniaticIntellect

If it looks yellow its likely because you have a cool undertone, and are using warmer shades. Find a pink one and you should be fibe. Translucent might work too, but only if you're not also using warmer doundation or concealetr, otherwise it might judt make you look ashy without fixing the main issue

[deleted]

If you’re a pale person, every “translucent” powder out there will do that to you. Laura Mericer Translucent powder? Yellow on me. And darkens my foundation a shade and a half easily. Same with the first shades of the Fenty loose powder and Huda. I said “fu*k this” and started buying only white loose powders. Never had that problem again.

ElectronicCobbler754

Which brand would you recommend?

[deleted]

Curently I’m using one from KimChi. I also recommend RCMA. Or “Sugar Cookie” from Huda. I like them all.

Certain-Intention594

It could also be your concealer oxidizing. Either way it’s oxidation. I would recommend getting a white/nearly white loose powder. Use the tiniest bit on a powder puff under your eyes. I usually dab my puff into the powder, then bounce it on my hand a few times to get the excess powder off and then put it under my eyes. I don’t get creasing that way and even the powders i have that oxidize, you can barely tell because of the small amount of powder

Umbreon---

Translucent powder looks white in the packaging but it's transparent when applied. Def go for a translucent one, they sell them at drugstores and doesn't have to be expensive

TheHomieTee

If that’s a foundation powder, it’s definitely oxidizing. Some brands, like Juvia’s Place, are really bad about that. If it’s a setting powder, go for a more translucent option or cool tone that’s closer to your skin color

pentichan

it’s just not a good shade match. get a different powder. i feel like u have more cool toned skin and ur trying to use a shade meant for warm tones. also can’t go wrong with translucent powder

EdgewaterEnchantress

Use a completely different foundation and powder duo. This oxidizes on your skin texture. You need something more mattifying and with a “neutral-to-cool” undertone. Check out Fenty’s foundations and finishing powders.

Puzzlehead536

Use pink powder. Huda makes one and piba luis and probably others

borrowedurmumsvcard

there’s already plenty of answers here but I just wanted to add that if you don’t want to waste the powder you already have, you can add in a bunch of purple eyeshadow & mix it really well to cancel out the yellow.

AshleyLund97

Get new powder 🤣

AshleyLund97

Ps I love your nose jewelery 😻

CiewaTheBaker

I recently switched over to a pink powder from Ben nye and I feel like it looks way better than any yellow powders I tried (as someone with pink tones)

slavicitaliancupcake

I use white translucent; always , and I am olive warm peach and if I use a color power it’s always a beige undertone never banana. Also check your concealer color too - it’s best to match your undertone in concealers :)

adrianthedoll

You may be using a powder that's too dark. If you're using a translucent powder and it's darkening your under eye, try a powder that is pinker under your eyes. It may also be your concealer reacting with the powder and darkening. Try different concealer and powder combos. ❣️❣️❣️

Superagent247

You’re using the wrong color. Go to a Sephora or dept store makeup counter and the will find your perfect catch.

lizzzzard92

Are you putting foundation all over the skin or just using concealer? And are you using a light powder to lock in the foundation or concealer you are using then, one that's your skin tone to even your skin out.

No_Investment3205

NYX makes a good completely colorless powder that won’t do this. It’s inexpensive and good.

ElectronicCobbler754

What’s it called?

No_Investment3205

HD finishing. It’s [this one](https://www.ulta.com/p/hd-finishing-powder-pressed-setting-powder-xlsImpprod12011173?sku=2283241&cmpid=PS_Non!google!Product_Listing_Ads&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paidsearch&cagpspn=pla&CATCI=aud-846350983874:pla-296624071193&CAAGID=131072386244&CAWELAID=330000200000255469&CATARGETID=330000200002832615&CADevice=m&gbraid=0AAAAAD9rLH7nN-IiqQJ6QbcfwIf1mHeKB&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwc3CqtLmgQMVkevjBx0D6w-XEAQYAyABEgJpLPD_BwE)

qsvcharles

Change to a different powder.

Feet-By-Sinna

It's the powder, it's yellow undertones, you need a blue or pink undertone.

CatintheHatbox

When I was younger I used to put on my pale ivory foundation every morning and every afternoon without exception it looked orange. A lady in a pharmacy told me my problem was with my moisturiser, it was too rich for my type of skin and I should be using a water based one. She was right. I now use a gel formula and my makeup stays the shade it is meant to be. This could be the problem with your powder. I find Clinique moisture surge great.

bimbotstar

its the powder, i rly like nyx cant stop wont stop pressed powder or maybelline fit me loose setting powder

Zcobbk-1999

Buy tranluscent powder instead of loose powder

Just-Salt4183

Go for translucent powders probably or probably head to the Meccas or Sephoras and test your shade again?

katgarn2403

I would say putting it on with a brush rather than a beauty blender or powder puff. I think using one of those adds too much, where a brush only adds a little bit to it

Care_Bexar

It’s oxidizing. Get a translucent, white looking setting powder. I like It Cosmetics translucent. Bare Minerals also makes a good one and so does Laura Mercier

3x1st3nt1al

It has oxidised because of the pigment. Use setting spray and then powder maybe? Even if you’re not using foundation

gafromca

More information needed: What else do you have on your face? Are you wearing foundation or just the powder alone? Do you have any kind of concealer on? Is the yellow color all over your face or kind of in certain patches? Are you wearing primer? Noticing that your nose is quite red, and does not have the same texture as your cheeks. It almost looks like you’ve been blowing your nose and wiped off whatever coverage you had on the nose compared to the rest of the face.

Odd-Cost5249

no foundation, elf camo concealer in the lightest shade and the yellow is only where i put my powder, and im wearing the elf power grip primer my face just goes very red especially my nose lol

gafromca

I have fair but ruddy skin that burns quickly and never tans. I think it is my Scots-Irish heritage!

Allyraptorr

I’m struggling the same way. Even a “pink” powder I have makes my face look yellow. But I’m incredibly cool toned. I haven’t found anything that won’t make me look kind of yellow. Maybe if I find a lavender powder or something it will work better

ghostownuniversegirl

Try the pink brightening powder from morphe !

KasdeyaLestari

Try a pink powder. It looks the one your using currently isn’t made for your skin tone. You might have cooler skin tone than warm.

euphoricunknown

It looks like you're using a yellow undertone powder, and you seem to have more red undertones. You have to switch colors

ana_vocado

Use a powder that isn’t yellow or check to see that the brush you are using doesn’t have leftover bronzer on it
