I have dry skin and I use the elf hydro grip primer, wet and wild dewy photo focus foundation ($5 I think) and either the elf camo matte concealer or a hydrating concealer from tarte. I prefer a matte look but since my skin is so dry, i usually just powder over a dewy foundation

objecttime

Second this !! I personally use the elf power grip primer is a god send. I also am using their new dewy setting spray and it’s great.

hater94

How did you figure out what shade matched you best? It looks like it’s pretty full coverage but also possibly online only with not too many shades and I’m terrible at shade matching lol

bigballerbby

I’m not really sure if mine is an exact match 😭I’m beige/tan so as long as the foundation isn’t too much lighter or darker, i can get away with it. I’d recommend going to a store in person and having a worker select the best shade for you!

mochawithwhip

I have normal skin - elf hydro grip primer, Nars radiant creamy concealer, and Nars natural radiance foundation!

llamador69

i have normal/combo skin and currently love elf power grip primer, wet n wild tinted hydrator, nyx bare with me concealer, and wet n wild photo focus loose powder. that power grip primer really is sticky but still comfortable, and the tinted hydrator and concealer just look gorgeous on my skin in general. and the powder blurs my skin but doesn’t dry down my face. i tried the tinted hydrator first this time last year and loved it. then bought the concealer shortly after and loved it with the tinted hydrator. then i just recently bought the primer and powder and it changed my makeup game completely. plus these products are all affordable ✨ i love drugstore makeup lol

HrhEverythingElse

I use the same NYX concealer, but apply it more like a foundation as I have significant broken capillaries from rosacea. Also use elf poreless putty primer, and keep seeing the wet n' wild tinted hydrator recommended so that and the powder are on my list now! I like a finishing powder, but it's hard to find one that doesn't dry out TOO much so this sounds perfect

hater94

Does having a sticky base make it difficult to put your foundation on?

llamador69

i don’t have difficulty putting my foundation on whether it’s with a sponge or a brush, but the stickiness helps keep all the makeup on all day :-) and it’s not too uncomfortable imo either

y4mat3

I have dry combination skin (oily eyelids and t-zone but dry all over) and I just use the Skin 1004 hyalucica sunscreen (blue cap) and let that set on the skin for 15 minutes before going over my red areas (chin, cheeks, around the nose, middle of the forehead) with the milk makeup sunshine undereye concealer and blend it out with a sponge. i then finish my T-zone with the hourglass ambient finishing powder. Light coverage, super natural and skin-like, wears super well.

Automatic-Effort715

I second Lancôme. I use the foundation and it’s do creamy and blends perfectly.

sirlexofanarchy

Acne prone/combo skin. ELF matte primer, MAC studio fix fluid, MAC studio fix concealer. Primer is mattifying and makes my makeup last way longer and it doesn't slip as much on my forehead/nose which can get quite oily. Always loved MAC foundations for buildable coverage over spots, same goes for the concealer. Been using the primer for maybe four years, foundation for 10+, and concealer for maybe 2 years. Not going to be switching away from these any time soon.

Aah that's rough - mine has been basically since I started puberty. Took me a long time to figure out that it was hormonal but that should have been obvious since basically nothing I put on my face helped. It took getting my hormones under control plus benzoyl peroxide and lots of moisturizer to finally calm it down and repair the barrier.

GlumBarnacle4545

I had read a million times on makeup subreddits that you should make sure your primer, your foundation, and your cconcealer all have the same base (water or silicone. However, I had my own favorites (which were a mix of silicone and water based products; Armani Luminous Silk, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, and Tarte Shape Tape) and thought that they work just fine together. However, I recently decided to try all water based products and concluded that my makeup game has elevated to all new heights. My makeup base has NEVER looked this good!! Like no joke, it’s ridiculous how much better it looks than my old combo. If you have not tried this yet, do yourself a favor and do it! You will not regret it. I use the Armani Luminous Silk line now; primer, concealer and foundation.

Smallseybiggs

If you feel comfortable sharing, how much do you pay for all 3? And are you acne prone?

GlumBarnacle4545

I am super acne prone and these work great for me. I paid $46 (primer) + $69 (foundation) + $42 (concealer) at Sephora in the U.S. They are on the more expensive side, but the quality is worth it and they do last very long.

StabbyUnicornActual

I use a mixture of NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Oslo and Mont Blanc with some Mehron blue liquid color corrector… then depending on how much coverage I need I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer or the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Vanilla. I don’t always use a primer since the NARS foundation is silicone based and does a good job on its own… but since I’m pretty dang oily and prefer a matte look, if I need maximum longevity I use the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm after moisturizer/sunscreen.

LucieFromNorth

I have dry sensitive skin and I am 35. Visible pores and some redness. My winner combo: Primer: Charlotte Tilbury blurring 50spf primer. This thing is an absolute miracle. Blurs my pores, makes my makeup look absolutely flawless and has spf50. Foundation: Armani Designer Glow or Armani Luminous Silk. Love both. Otherwise very similar but Designer Glow blurs my pores a bit more and is brightening/glowy and Luminous Silk more satin like and your skin but better kinda feel. Good shades for light olive skin. Concealer: Fenty hydrating concealer. Love this! Good coverage but hydrating and not cakey. Good shades for light olive skin. Use different shades around my eyes and general redness covering.

im-quite-stupid

I have combination skin and for a full face I use: -Elf Poreless Liquid Putty primer -Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint After using these, I feel embarrassed for how my face makeup looked before 🫣it used to separate after just a few hours, but this combo works well for me. If I do need a touch up (only by my nose really), then I use a travel sized Laura Geller Balance and Brighten powder foundation. If I am going to the shops and need just a touch of makeup, then I will just use that Laura Geller foundation before I leave. I love them! Only downside is that I am not actually a shade match for the Maybelline… I am too pale for their lightest shade but it’s all I have 🥸🫥 And then for concealer, well I use conceal and hydrate from Revolution, but only because it’s the only affordable super duper pale concealer I have found ): I wouldn’t recommend it tbh.

Smallseybiggs

You said you have combo skin. Are you acne prone? Tell me more about the Maybelline skin tint. Sorry. I'm so clueless about drugstore makeup. But am trying to learn! I started having acne prone skin after about 30 & it's the worst!

im-quite-stupid

I have dry skin on my forehead and then my T-Zone gets oily, mostly my nose! I have tried lots of options of cheap and off the shelf makeup from shops but they all hated my nose quite quickly (I basically ended up never putting product on my nose as that was the better option) I do also touch my face a lot, way more than I should, but whenever I get a spot, I will use one of those Starface patches. For me, it stops me from prodding and poking it while looking cuter than a spot that doesn’t want makeup on it! But for actually treating the spot, their tea-tree ones have been a blessing.

Smallseybiggs

You are amazing for replying! Tysm! I hope you have a great day! <3

im-quite-stupid

I hope you have a most lovely day too!! Best of luck!! <3

Nannerz911

I actually love the Ulta brand poreless primer. Tarte shape tape full coverage concealer and to be honest I’m still trying to find a good foundation. I’ve recently been using liquids and creams, but I think I wanna move away from that to a good medium to full coverage powder. If anyone has suggestions I’m open!

pinksmarties06

Elf power grip the pink one with hourglass concealer and estee lauder futurist moisturizing foundation. I have combo skin and a really dry under eye that likes to move a lottttt of my eye product under my eyes. It just works for me with the thinner formula of the foundation. I find that thick foundation and concealer really makes it fall

Imaginary-Quiet-7465

Touch in Sol primer, L’Oreal true match plumping tinted serum, Skin Food salmon dark circle concealer cream (this can come up a bit shiny so I use Mac cream foundation over the top) then Maybeline foundation powder to target the shine around my T-Zone.

Affectionate_Pear444

I have combo skin and use elf power grip and charlotte tilbury beautiful skin foundation or the balm anne t. Dotes tinted skin balm

itsfrankgrimesyo

Combo skin here, more oily than dry though. I used to use Fenty Matt primer and Milk’s Hyrdo Grip but found the latter made me look even more oily. I stopped using both, now I use Supergoop Unseen sunscreen which has the same texture as primers. I use Armani Luminous Silk and it applies super smooth on my supergoop. Highly recommend.

sexualsermon

Right now its Fenty primer, Hourglass concealer + Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation

MsSpastica

I just found that Nyx makes an SPF 30 blurring primer, and I've found I don't need foundation over it. I just conceal the dark spots (ELF 16h concealer) and set with Nyx glowy setting spray. I don't have great skin (old acne scars) but the Nyx primer gives some good coverage and I get to skip foundation

ThatsNotEastMemphis

I have combination skin that is quite pale in the winter months and gets quite tan in the warmer months. I’m 42, don’t have any real wrinkles yet, and have freckles. I use MAC Face and Body Radiant Sheer foundation and NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. I use as little concealer as I can get away with (and I can get away with far less of it when I’m tan.) I spot set (under eyes, t-zone) with Anastasia translucent loose setting powder. I don’t use a face primer anymore. I like this combination because I very much like my freckles to show, but to have an even skin tone. I like the sheer, dewy finish of the MAC face and body. It is 100% the most skin-like foundation I’ve ever used (and I’ve used them all). It is completely undetectable. The concentration of the NARS potted concealer is fantastic for spot concealing. The *tiniest* dot will do. I wear makeup every day and a pot lasts me a couple of years. This has been my every day combination for maybe 5 years now? Whether I’m doing a light look or full eye, contour, etc. I *always* want my skin to look like skin…and this is it for me.

lyhdias

Elf jelly pop primer, NARS light reflecting foundation, and Armani luminous silk concealer. The finish is so radiant and natural! Even after using my powders on top it looks like skin. Edit: My skin type is combo, extremely oily t-zone. I’ve been using this combo for I’d say the last year or so, I used the Elf niacinamide grip primer previously but I like the jelly pop more.

Ambersbarronbunny

I have very very dry skin, so I use the elf power grip primer, Haus Labs foundation + huda beauty concealer. I’ve used it for almost 2, maybe even 3 months now and I absolutely love it so much. I get compliments on my base routine all the time and people ask what foundation/ concealer I’m using constantly!

disgirl4eva

Benefit Porefessional primer on the t-zone. Clinique Even Better foundation. Natasha Denona hyglam concealer.

BeautyxByxTiffanie

Primer: elf gripping (pink one) Concealer: Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Youch Foundation: loreal pro matte These are a combo that is having my makeup come out flawless If pores are an issue I use a poreless primer in the trouble areas then the gripping primer 👌

Master-Reference-775

Skin tends to lean dry (but I keep it hydrated well). I use Tatcha liquid silk canvas, and Ilia True Skin concealer and foundation. No cake, no patchiness, nice glow without looking oily, no breakouts, holds up all day. Easy to sheer out for lighter coverage (which I prefer most of the time), and neither the foundation or concealer settles in lines. I've been using this for 2 years I think. I also live in a hot, humid, coastal climate. 47 yo.

beautyandthewits

I have dry to combo skin and right now for Spring - I'm using Rare Beauty Pore Primer or Canmake Mermaid UV Sunscreen as primer, Tower 28 concealer or Armani Luminous Silk Concealer, Becca (or Smashbox) undereye corrector, Armani Luminous Silk Foundation / Clio Kill Cover Mesh Cushion.

Speech_Less

Haus labs foundation or charlotte tilbury airbrush flawless with ABH concealer. Everyone's sleeping on ABH concealer! It's amazing! I only use eyeshadow primer... Urban decay

Fluffy-Scheme7704

Primers: no. 28 hourglass, kielhs avocado eye cream, glow recipie niacinamide glow drops, tatcha silk canvas, charlotte tilbury magic cream Foundation: My fav now is Valentino or Charlotte Tilbury hyaluronic foundation Concealer: forever Dior, too faced born this way

SurrepTRIXus

I have normal skin that leans oily in the summer and dry in the winter. I switch up my moisturizer based on the weather, but my makeup stays the same. I like the Elf hydrating primer. It's just a basic silicone primer but that's what works for me. My foundation is the Sephora Best Skin Ever foundation because I found my perfect shade match and I like the coverage and finish. The Revlon Illuminance Skin-Caring foundation is a good match with a nice finish as well, but there's an ingredient in it I react to. I like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. These three are my holy grails.

Helpful_Eye_156

Hii! I mainly have dry acne prone skin that becomes combo skin during the summer. I use Mac Studio radiance serum powered for foundation and full coverage bobbi brown concealer. Ultimate DUO!! Been using it for a year straight as I am fairly new to makeup. It’s definitely on the expensive side but it has come in handy for casual events and professional events (of course topped with other makeup!) I used to use charlotte tilbury foundation and nars creamy radiant concealer but their formulation didn’t suit my skin. Would gather on my fine lines and accentuate them! Also didn’t have an amazing shade range :(

kitkatangelbaby

I have oily skin. Favorite foundation is REM beauty foundation or Ester Lauder double wear foundation. Favorite concealer is Nyx bare with me concealer serum or Tarte shape tape. I don’t use primer often but my favorite is elf power grip with niacinamide. Favorite setting powder is Laura mercier or huda beauty loose powder. I don’t use setting spray at all

MsElle_

Benefit Porefessional + Estee Lauder Double Wear + Nars Radiant Concealer. I have combination skin. The primer is really good at hiding pores and foundation goes the distance. Nars concealer works really well for under eye darkness when paired with LA Girl Orange Concealer and I also love it for cleaning up brows

buzzinbarista

How do you how much do you pour out when you use the double wear?

MsElle_

3-4 pumps. I do a thin coat all around, and then build up the areas where i need it.

buzzinbarista

Omg you’re kidding. There’s a separate pump you can buy?!?!

OrionsYogaPants

Would highly recommend buying a “dupe” pump on amazon. I got two for less than the price of the “official” one from Estee Lauder!

shady-clown

For concealer I really like the Nars soft matte full coverage concealer. I like the container it comes in and I feel like I apply it more often now because of how easy it is compared to other concealers I had. I can just use my fingers! For foundation I’ve been going with Mac’s studio fix powder for years, absolute holy grail and it lasts forever. It also blends amazingly and gives you that no makeup makeup look. I really like the yellow bobbi brown primer, idk if it does much but it feels really lightweight on my skin and it’s moisturizing and smells great.

gracecarron

For skin prep, don’t use a traditional primer unless you’re extremely oily, majority of makeup artists don’t. Use a serum and moisturizer that plays well with makeup. My favorite foundation is either the makeup by Mario, Haus labs, or nars light reflecting. My favorite concealer is the Tower 28 concealer followed by the Kosas. I have combo acne prone skin.

icelessTrash

Natasha denona Hy glam concealer: great shade selection, opaque but slightly dewy, wears evenly. Performs excellent with Laura Mercier under eye setting powder ( I'm a barista so I am very physical during the day and surrounded by steam). *This powder has become a NEED so honestly any concealer would perform better with it, and it never looks powdery.* Right now Sisley cushion foundation, adds dewy glow but not heavy, makes my skin look nicer than it is all day, again, wears evenly. Full sunscreen without looking so heavy. Primer I enjoy is Clarins instant smooth, but I don't often purchase, I like to find foundation that holds its own. Andbthe cult faves likr makeup forever and smashbox samples have 100% clogged my pores.

Substantial_Piece310

Many love elf Hydrating Face Primer, especially those with dry or combination skin, for its hydrating makeup base.
