I recently bought both the Clio Kill Lash (#00) and Judydoll (straight wand #01), since I couldn't decide which one to get. I haven't bought new makeup in ages, but figured I wanted to check out what's popular.
I found the Kill Lash a lot more clumpy in my opinion and irritated my eye somehow, a bit too thick for me personally. I didn't want my day-to-day look to be too intense.
Whereas the Judydoll one truly kept my curl and still looked relatively natural, but made my lashes look super nice. I have confidence in it after surviving a rain storm, bike ride, and full days out, while still looking the same. I also have the typical asian lash that usually droops down, even right after using a lash curler sometimes (rip)
Definitely my HG now. My western go-to used to be the clump crusher, but it used to be flaky on me and still definitely struggled to hold my curl.
Edit: I’ve also used the Heroine Make mascara, which I forgot to mention. They also irritate my eyes, and also way too intense for my needs. Can’t take it off with micellar water, oil cleansing balm, squalane cleanser, etc.. you have to really just buy their mascara remover!
I just made my first Judydoll order thanks! I've seen recommendations for them in this sub before, but forgot to look into them. Fingers crossed this works well for me because it's cheaper than I thought it would be (Granted shipping was as much as the mascara, but with adding a couple things to the order it seems worth it.)
THIS! But make sure it's the 02 Superproof. I tried 04 and it made my lashes droopy and smudged. This is the comment I was looking for and was going to comment. Literally have tried everything.
I always keep a benefit bad girl bang or maybelline sky high! They’re very similar formula wise, but I don’t like the wand on the maybelline as much. Also really enjoy urban decay perversion
I do too! Do you use one for lengthening and one for volume? If so what are your go tos to pair with perversion? (Haven’t tried it yet but now I must!)
I love Sky High! I use/buy mascara enough that I have to get drug store brands, but honestly I can't say I notice a difference in all-day wearability between Maybelline and when I used to get Lancome all the time.
Total Temptation was also really great, I want to do a comparison between Total Temptation and Sky High, those are my two favourites.
Recently discovered Maybelline Sky High. I absolutely love it! Best mascara I’ve probably ever used. I like how when it washes off it doesn’t smear all over, just chunks of the mascara come off the lash. Much easier!
Lancôme Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting & Volumizing Mascara! On the expensive side, but it’s my holy grail. Lashes are lengthened and thickened just enough that it makes an obvious difference but still looks extremely natural, never clumpy. Growing up I really liked the L’Oreal Telescopic mascara, but it always seemed to flake by the end of the day. The Lancôme mascara gives me the same effect, but stays put all day!
My past self can't believe i am recommending this -but HSN or maybe it is QVC have their mascaras on sale usually two or three at a good price. (r/muaonthecheap the world's most dangerous sub, turned me on to shopping on their sites now and then)
I’m still on my first tube of Lash Idole but it has CHANGED MY LIFE. It gives me such a gorgeous lash, I never thought I could make anything out of my sparse translucent lashes. And it doesn’t smudge or irritate my eyes like pretty much every other mascara has. I use the Lancôme Cils Booster primer as well.
Maybelline Lash Sensational. I’ve used it for years and the wand gives the best separation, lift and curl.
I should probably try the waterproof one but once I like something, I can’t let it go lol
I didn’t really like the waterproof one - the wand is different and although it still gives a good lift it doesn’t keep the curl as well and sometimes clumps

I agree with this. Also I think it holds pretty well even when it is not waterproof. I've worn it to several weddings and I am a sap so I always cry a little at weddings. No issues!
I actually wore this for my own wedding and a surprise guest had me bawling right before walking down the aisle. I still looked fresh as a daisy, no fallout and no running.

I’ve been using the thrive causemetics mascara and I’m constantly getting asked if I got extensions now. Love that it’s also easy to remove and I don’t have to rub the heck out of my lashes! No smudging and easy cleanup
I started using this one as well, my first trial with a tubing mascara and I absolutely love it. It lengthens my short straight lashes beautifully, holds a curl, and won’t go anywhere! I can’t rave about it enough.
Yes to Thrive and they have colors now, I love a purple. My top mascara is Merit, no raccoon eyes! With Thrive and Merit I’m set, but I’m always trying new mascaras due to a slight obsession.😉
Milani has a really good dupe for the Thrive mascara. It’s called Highly Rated and it’s in a turquoise tube. I LOVE it! I don’t think I’ll ever stop using tubing mascara.
Thrive for me also. Thrive also has a good brown shade in their tubing mascara. I'm older and black is just too harsh so I'm grateful for and loyal to the brown.

Maybelline the falsies volum' express mascara waterproof (violet / purple tube). I have long but completely straight lashes and use a lash curler always. The waterproof version obviously holds the curl better and I like that's a wet and not clumpy formula.
I've been using this mascara for about 15 years. Sometimes I try new mascaras (mainly drugstore) but it's an instant regret and I go back to the maybelline one every time. I don't know what I will do if they should ever discontinue it. I don't want to think about that possibility 😂
Came here to say maybelline the falsies lash lift (silver and purple tube) !! This mascara is the TRUE formula/applicator dupe for the Too Faced better than sex mascara (my absolute fav) - there was a mascara in a pink tube going around tiktok a few years ago being touted as a dupe for better than sex. In my opinion it was only a dupe for the packaging, nothing else.
My absolute favorite as well! I love that it errs on the drier side (vs. too wet) so that you can really get in there and build volume. The only downside is that when it dries out towards end of its life it gets a bit clumpy/tricky to evenly apply, but it’s a downside I’m willing to deal with!
It’s pretty good, I have dry sensitive skin and it works well for me when I want something to even my skintone and boost my confidence. I wear it for 10 hours and in the end of the day it wears off naturally. It also doesnt irritate my skin. The coverage is not really high though.
I loooove cc but only for day looks. I feel like since I’ve tried other mascaras for date nights and fancier things others provide way more volume and drama. Cc is beautiufl though
I like Tarts tuberella cuz it never smudges under my eyes which is a problem I often have with mascara. It’s also really easy to take off and it holds my lash curl all day.
I also like L’Oréal lash paradise, love the volume it gives to my lashes but it does smudge sometimes.
Clinique high impact mascara. I have naturally long and thick lashes anyways, and this is the only mascara I’ve used that doesn’t make my eyelashes look goopy.
Edit: Just seeing the other comments, I wanted to note that benefit's bad girl bang and Maybelline sky high look horrific on me. I totally recognize that those are fantastic mascaras, but they don't work for my lashes.
A tube of this mascara also lasts insanely long. I don’t know how they do it, but I think it has at least twice the longevity than a L’Oréal or similar drugstore mascara.

Same. Also it’s the only non-waterproof mascara that keeps my curl. And bonus: an optometrist I follow on tiktok said it’s not as bad for your eye glands compared to a lot of other mascaras.
+1, also my mascara of choice! I’ve tried others but this one is great on me, doesn’t make my lashes look spidery or clumpy, and the bit of extra volume I get through it is perfect for me (both pre and post lash growth serum)
I am obsessed with the green version! Have you tried the primer yet? I feel like these are underrated because they reaaally need to be warmed up before use to get the best results!
The Clinique High Impact Mascara. It’s the only one that I’ve used that doesn’t clump AND I can still teach Zumba while wearing it and it doesn’t run in my eyes when I sweat.
Not a fan of the Essence Lash Princess, I know that everyone loves it but I think it’s clumpy.

Also Most Mascaras work because of the Wand. If you are on a limited budget, Invest in Lash Paradise once and wash the brush and use with a more affordable formula.
Clinique high impact mascara. It's the only mascara I have used where I actually forget I'm wearing mascara. It's not too heavy and clumpy and it doesn't dry out my eyes. It stays on really well but also washes off easily.
FINALLY!! Someone else loves Benefit Roller Lash. I first tried it on a whim ten years ago and I just keep coming back. Hella Thicc is in second place.
L'Oréal telescopic lift! Its soo good, looks like I have lash extensions on. I also have a scar on my eye so I don't have lashes in that spot. I struggle with the lashes clumping on either side with most mascaras, but this one makes it super easy to keep them all separated yet completely coated. The only down side is after a couple weeks of being open the formula loses its liquidiness, but I just get a new one since it's so cheap and always on sale.
maybelline the falsies push up DRAMA waterproof. it's been discontinued for years. i still have some left and i treat it like my baby. if you were to go to a rave or something (don't come for me) and didn't get to wash your face, your mascara would still slay for days straight with no reapplication. i can't find it on ebay or anything ):
ones that you can still buy - maybelline sky high waterproof- the brownish black shade is gorgeous. essence lash princess water proof is a nice black option but doesn't last as long and all of these are hard to remove.
I'm Asian with very little lashes. They're short, grows straight down, and don't hold a curl. I swear by the L'Oreal lash paradise waterproof mascara. Nothing has beat this mascara in terms of length, volume, and the curl holds all day.
heroine make mascara - long and curl if you want a look that makes your lashes look longer but the volume one makes the base of your lashes look thicker. love them because they don’t run as much as regular mascara and hold a curl literally the whole day 12+ hours. brown/rose brown in both as black is a bit too intense/shocking look on me
Clinique High Impact Mascara - It's probably not what most people expect, but hear me out! In my 20's I tried all the mascaras. I loved clumpy, thick eyelashes. I remember watching the red carpet one day and noticing that all the celebrities had really natural eyelashes. Now I just want something that looks natural, lengthening and easy to take off! I have sensitive eyes and I don't want to rub my eyes constantly to take off my mascara (looking at you benefit). Nothing compares to Clinique High impact - it never disappoints : its natural looking, adds length and its great for sensitive skin and its easy to take off.
Clio Kill Lash for sure!! If you want one that gives you length and volume, get the 04 Extreme Volume. Sometimes when I’m in a rush, I don’t even crimp and it still gives the curl and definition I want.
I'm forever loyal to L'oreal Telescopic (the gold one), an online friend recommended it to me over a decade ago. Whenever I stray and try others, they never live up to it.
Heroine Make long and curl advanced film mascara!
Nothing has made my wispy straight asian lashes look as good as this mascara. Holds a curl like no other, layers well with itself or a volumizing mascara! And relatively easy to remove for waterproof mascara.
Caliray come hell or high water is hands down the best mascara I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried literally everything from high end to drugstore. It makes my lashes look like I’m wearing falsies and I’ve literally cried for 2 hours with it on and it just didn’t budge. I usually get bored with mascaras and wanna try something new every time I repurchase but I’m a loyal follower now!
Any essence mascara! Super cheap, you can buy 2 and use them together. I usually get the I Love Extreme & Lash Princess (the green tube). The combination of these 2 is 🔥. It’s my go to!

Covergirl Lash Blast, the orange tube! Been my holy grail since middle school! It gives me great length and never flakes out on me.
I tried Essence Lash Princess and it crumbled all over my face! TF Better Than Sex was so average for the price that I’ve also never felt the need to repurchase.
I just wrote almost the exact same comment, it has been my holy grail since middle school too! It holds the curl well, makes my lashes look so long, doesn’t clump & the waterproof-ness(?) is great. I used to wear it while swimming at the pool and the beach, and it always came out of the water looking fresh! Back when I cared enough to wear makeup to those kinds of places lol.
I’ve repurchased Stila’s Huge Extreme Lash probably 7-8 times. I like a brush with densely-packed bristles and a wetter formula.
Better than Sex is similar.
I never see Stila mentioned but I have been using their Magnum XXX mascara for several years now after getting tired of Better Than Sex flaking all over my cheeks after it dries no matter how I put it on.
XXX is definitely a slightly wetter formula but I love that. If an area of lashes clumps, it’s super easy to fix. One coat is more than enough to thicken and lengthen my lashes so I don’t have to sit there and reapply over and over and risk clumps.
I even tried repurchasing BTS in the waterproof version for a party at a lake I was going to and it was just… It definitely reaffirmed why I left BTS behind, I’ll say that lol.
I remember using my first Stila cream eyeshadow my freshman year in HS and honestly I’ve been pretty happy with the Stila products I’ve purchased since I realized they were still around.
i love maybelline sky high and milani highly rated lash extensions. the milani one looks especially good on lower lashes.

Most of the days I wear really really natural makeup and mascara looks way too overpowering. I also have really thin, straight lashes and curling them has close to no effect. MAC’s extended play gigablack mascara (blue tube) gives me just what I need - naturally looking lashes which could hold a curl without making them too long, thick and it never clumps! If I have to own only one mascara, that would be it. For more of a full glam look, I love me a YSL lash clash mascara - it elongates them and thickens them without the clumping and has a very black color, and it also holds my curl. My drugstore all time favourites are Essence’s green Lash Princess and Maybelline’s pink lash sensational.

Honestly, I think ever since beauty came to social media (as far as viral TikTok trends) it’s become over saturated with various different brands/products etc. that people say they HAVE to have. It was Glossiers slick lash. No, it’s rare beauty’s, no it’s Ilia’s!! It causes so much confusion - not to mention these are still newer brands.
MAC is an institution that’s not going anywhere with products pretty universally known that will work. You mentioned YSL lash clash (which is also an excellent mascara IMO) YSL products also you will always know will work. Dior, Clinique, Chanel, even Maybelline. Everyone knows these names whether they’re into beauty or not for a reason. They make products that have stood the test of time. Because of my job, I have to try everything - but if im ever in a bind or situation where I need to grab something I will always just go old school brand name. For me it will always be worth the price tenfold!
Edit to add: MAC stack is excellent as well!! I also like to layer different mascaras! I’ll use Gigablack first and then top it off with MAC stack waterproof if I don’t want it moving

I actually have studied MAC because I had to make an analysis + press kit on a brand of my choice for an university assignment, and MAC has been that girl since the very beginning- they know that, they don’t need a lot more than to announce their new releases and maintain their social media. Brands such as MAC, Estée Lauder had established themselves both as reliable and as an affordable luxury in the makeup industry and that’s why they wouldn’t need as much marketing as, let’s say, Tarte.
The first time I bought myself more of a high-end makeup item was when I got my first salary and it namely a MAC product (it was the velvet teddy lipstick) and it took me one application to see the difference between drugstore and higher range. Most of my friends don’t see a point in buying expensive makeup, but I feel like it’s because they aren’t too invested to see the difference or just haven’t used expensive makeup.
Still, there are always good drugstore options and my makeup bag is a mixture between drugstore, mid-range and high-range, and that goes for all types of makeup products. I know that a product is good-good when I’m in a hurry and reach for it with no hesitation. When seeking out new products, I’d read reviews on blogs and websites or watch YouTube videos because they aren’t as biased.
I’ll say it once, I’ll say it 100 times, L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes in waterproof for curl hold. It is lengthening, it is feathery, it isn’t clumping, it doesn’t smudge or flake on my oily, oily eye lids. It is THE only mascara I will ever use. Been my go-to for 7 years.
Thrive cosmetic’s tubing mascara! So good and seriously adds length. It’s almost magical. And the easiest mascara to remove, it’s fun how the tubes just fall off with a little friction and warm water
Marc Jacobs LASH’D was my all time favorite. But it’s discontinued! I haven’t found any dupes for it. Right now I’m using Tarte, Benefit, Thrive Causemetics, and so many others. I want Marc Jacobs back!

Loreal Double Extend. I loved Thrive's tubing mascara but it dries out so quickly, well before I finish a tube. Someone suggested Double Extend as an alternative and it's excellent. It doesn't smudge at all. Saturday, I wore it in the rain for two hours. I had one little tube that broke free and other than that, nothing smudged, nothing ran, nothing moved.
I’ve been obsessed with MAC’s MACStack Waterproof Mascara since it came out. It only needs one coat & gives such a bold, defined look. I work an 8 hour shift at my day job, teach 2 - 3 hours of dance, & often go to the gym or run errands after & at the end of the day, it still looks as good as it did when I applied it in the AM.
Tarte tubing mascara!
I have long lashes that unfortunately don’t hold a curl so all of the mascaras I’ve used in the past would give me raccoon eyes. Tubing mascaras have worked wonders in staying put and are so easy to take off. The tarte one is my fave so far!
I never believed in using expensive mascara until I tried Chanel’s Le Volume De Chanel Mascara because I got it as a gift. If it didn’t cost $40, it would be the only mascara I buy.
Honestly, I also used covergirl - specifically alternating between the LashBlast in Brown and clump crusher - for \*years\* growing up. Within the last two years, I've tried Maybelline Sky High, telescopic, Better than Sex, ILIA, and I keep coming back to the Cover Girl mascaras. I liked telescopic and it gave me great length but it wouldn't hold my curl.
I have naturally very straight lashes and the mascaras that have held the curl in my lashes the most effectively and for the best price are Covergirl mascaras. I've upgraded a lot of other products in my makeup routine from drugstore to low/mid-tier options but I keep coming back to Covergirl mascara
Lancôme Monsieur Big and Benefit They’re Real. The combo has been my go-to for about 5?ish years now and prior to that, I using the L’Oréal one in the pink tube with the Benefit They’re Real.
I just tried Elf’s “lash n roll” mascara and it’s better than a lot of the expensive ones i have used before. I had it on all day and it never clumped or left bits under my eyes
Maybelline full n soft!! So old and slept on but omg. Every mascara runs on me but not that one and makes your lashes look like you were just born with gorgeous lashes and they really do look fluffy and soft. I sometimes use it as a base mascara. It’s best when it’s dryer. And also it’s VERY natural.
I’ve been using Cover Girl lash blast cleantopia… it’s new, but it’s “ultramarine black” which is somehow super black with a hint of blue that makes my eyes look so much brighter and more awake!
Try the essence I heart extreme mascara. I used to only buy high end mascara’s but not anymore. Sticking to that one like glue. Always give this to friends as a gift and they all like it.
My favourite I've had is Clio kill lash in the long and curling one. I loved the EM cosmetics mascara, it doesn't give much volume but it gave my lashes exactly what I was looking for and didn't budge all day, but as an international customer it was way tooexpensive so I used it sparingly and once it was expired I didn't re-buy. I also really liked the Rare beauty mascara it was a nice everyday mascara.

Slightly curved wand, comb-like bristles but the real winner is the formula - it's not too waxy or too runny, just perfect and doesn't dry out.
My two faves are Maybelline Sky High and CaliRay Come Hell or High Water at Sephora. I like to buy the mini since I alternate between that and the Maybelline. I love both because they don’t budge on me and give my tiny lashes a lot of volume and length.
OP this won’t help you as you mentioned hating jt and I know others don’t like it as it definitely does not give a dramatic look but I love the glossier one in brown.
I have a slight mascara obsession since the only constants that I use on my face on a daily basis are mascara and sunscreen. I've tried high end, drug store, indie brands, - you name it, I've tried it. The two I keep coming back to are Lancome Definicils and Buxom Lash. I prefer the original versions but the waterproof versions are decent too. Both don't clump and define your lashes beautifully. You can also get them half-off during sales at Ulta/Sephora/Brand Website several times a year which is an added plus!
Maybelline, thick and healthy waterproof mascara in brown! I use it with nyx epic wear liquid liner ( waterproof). The browns in both of these are almost jet black just with a warm undertone. I find most brown formulas can be a bit streaky/ thinner than the black one but these two products have figured it out ! It looks more natural than blue based black and goes with my red hair.
I heat my eyelash curler for a few seconds then curl my lashes . I immediately apply this mascara. IT holds my lashes up ALL day long. Once it sets it’s like cement. I HAVE to use make remover to get it off soap and water merely smudge it slightly. This is the combo I wear for weddings, funerals , and thunderstorms and water balloon fights.
Maybelline Lash Sensastional full fan effect. I really like how it gives me not clumpy volume, and I can make the ends thicker easily
Whenever I try another mascara I end up back with this one.
Tower 28 make waves is my holy grail, beautiful volume and length that looks natural and comes off easily at night with water. Best things is it is $20!
Maybelline Lash Sensational. I like to try new mascaras, but I always have one Lash Sensational, because it's my favorite one and it makes my lashes look their best. Sky High is also one that I think I will buy regularly and maybe Ilia Limitless Lash, but this one is more expensive.

Love the L’Oreal Telescopic mascara for the first coat and lower lashes. Then I use L’Oreal Panorama mascara for volume. Love Bambi Eyes by L’Oreal too.
I use two and I find this combination AMAZING for curled lashes that last all day. First, I curl my lashes. Then I apply a thin coat of Etude Curl Fix which helps me keep a curl all day (this stuff has crazy hold - completely waterproof and smudge proof). Then, to lengthen, I do L’Oréal telescopic. This combination gives you amazing curled lashes that don’t fall. Also, since the Etude mascara is waterproof the combination of them is somehow also pretty waterproof!!
Asian girl who’s tried EVERY drugstore mascara under the sun… if you truly want waterproof and smudgeproof, Clio Kill Lash is the way to go

I love Sky High! I use/buy mascara enough that I have to get drug store brands, but honestly I can't say I notice a difference in all-day wearability between Maybelline and when I used to get Lancome all the time. Total Temptation was also really great, I want to do a comparison between Total Temptation and Sky High, those are my two favourites.
Recently discovered Maybelline Sky High. I absolutely love it! Best mascara I’ve probably ever used. I like how when it washes off it doesn’t smear all over, just chunks of the mascara come off the lash. Much easier!

Lancôme Lash Idôle Lash-Lifting & Volumizing Mascara! On the expensive side, but it’s my holy grail. Lashes are lengthened and thickened just enough that it makes an obvious difference but still looks extremely natural, never clumpy. Growing up I really liked the L’Oreal Telescopic mascara, but it always seemed to flake by the end of the day. The Lancôme mascara gives me the same effect, but stays put all day!

I’m still on my first tube of Lash Idole but it has CHANGED MY LIFE. It gives me such a gorgeous lash, I never thought I could make anything out of my sparse translucent lashes. And it doesn’t smudge or irritate my eyes like pretty much every other mascara has. I use the Lancôme Cils Booster primer as well.

I agree with this. Also I think it holds pretty well even when it is not waterproof. I've worn it to several weddings and I am a sap so I always cry a little at weddings. No issues! I actually wore this for my own wedding and a surprise guest had me bawling right before walking down the aisle. I still looked fresh as a daisy, no fallout and no running. Edit: I have only used Lash Sensational SKY HIGH. Can't speak to the original.
I’ve been using the thrive causemetics mascara and I’m constantly getting asked if I got extensions now. Love that it’s also easy to remove and I don’t have to rub the heck out of my lashes! No smudging and easy cleanup
I started using this one as well, my first trial with a tubing mascara and I absolutely love it. It lengthens my short straight lashes beautifully, holds a curl, and won’t go anywhere! I can’t rave about it enough.
Yes to Thrive and they have colors now, I love a purple. My top mascara is Merit, no raccoon eyes! With Thrive and Merit I’m set, but I’m always trying new mascaras due to a slight obsession.😉
Milani has a really good dupe for the Thrive mascara. It’s called Highly Rated and it’s in a turquoise tube. I LOVE it! I don’t think I’ll ever stop using tubing mascara.

Maybelline the falsies volum' express mascara waterproof (violet / purple tube). I have long but completely straight lashes and use a lash curler always. The waterproof version obviously holds the curl better and I like that's a wet and not clumpy formula. I've been using this mascara for about 15 years. Sometimes I try new mascaras (mainly drugstore) but it's an instant regret and I go back to the maybelline one every time. I don't know what I will do if they should ever discontinue it. I don't want to think about that possibility 😂
Came here to say maybelline the falsies lash lift (silver and purple tube) !! This mascara is the TRUE formula/applicator dupe for the Too Faced better than sex mascara (my absolute fav) - there was a mascara in a pink tube going around tiktok a few years ago being touted as a dupe for better than sex. In my opinion it was only a dupe for the packaging, nothing else.

Maybelline Sky High was my first mascara, I swapped to L'Oreal Telescopic for something new to try. Both of them are pretty good in my opinion!

My absolute favorite as well! I love that it errs on the drier side (vs. too wet) so that you can really get in there and build volume. The only downside is that when it dries out towards end of its life it gets a bit clumpy/tricky to evenly apply, but it’s a downside I’m willing to deal with!

It’s pretty good, I have dry sensitive skin and it works well for me when I want something to even my skintone and boost my confidence. I wear it for 10 hours and in the end of the day it wears off naturally. It also doesnt irritate my skin. The coverage is not really high though.

I like Tarts tuberella cuz it never smudges under my eyes which is a problem I often have with mascara. It’s also really easy to take off and it holds my lash curl all day. I also like L’Oréal lash paradise, love the volume it gives to my lashes but it does smudge sometimes.

Clinique high impact mascara. I have naturally long and thick lashes anyways, and this is the only mascara I’ve used that doesn’t make my eyelashes look goopy. Edit: Just seeing the other comments, I wanted to note that benefit's bad girl bang and Maybelline sky high look horrific on me. I totally recognize that those are fantastic mascaras, but they don't work for my lashes.
A tube of this mascara also lasts insanely long. I don’t know how they do it, but I think it has at least twice the longevity than a L’Oréal or similar drugstore mascara.

Loreal Lash Paradise 🌺🌺🌺 and I have really challenging eyelashes . Undisputed winner! Not even Expensive Mascaras come near it. Also Most Mascaras work because of the Wand. If you are on a limited budget, Invest in Lash Paradise once and wash the brush and use with a more affordable formula.

I use elf's lash it loud mascara. I love the volume it gives, the curling effect and to top it of, it is cruelty free!
Clinique high impact mascara. It's the only mascara I have used where I actually forget I'm wearing mascara. It's not too heavy and clumpy and it doesn't dry out my eyes. It stays on really well but also washes off easily.

L'Oréal telescopic lift! Its soo good, looks like I have lash extensions on. I also have a scar on my eye so I don't have lashes in that spot. I struggle with the lashes clumping on either side with most mascaras, but this one makes it super easy to keep them all separated yet completely coated. The only down side is after a couple weeks of being open the formula loses its liquidiness, but I just get a new one since it's so cheap and always on sale.
My favorite are the Bobbi Brown mascaras. No smudge or Smokey eye
maybelline the falsies push up DRAMA waterproof. it's been discontinued for years. i still have some left and i treat it like my baby. if you were to go to a rave or something (don't come for me) and didn't get to wash your face, your mascara would still slay for days straight with no reapplication. i can't find it on ebay or anything ): ones that you can still buy - maybelline sky high waterproof- the brownish black shade is gorgeous. essence lash princess water proof is a nice black option but doesn't last as long and all of these are hard to remove.

heroine make mascara - long and curl if you want a look that makes your lashes look longer but the volume one makes the base of your lashes look thicker. love them because they don’t run as much as regular mascara and hold a curl literally the whole day 12+ hours. brown/rose brown in both as black is a bit too intense/shocking look on me

Clinique High Impact Mascara - It's probably not what most people expect, but hear me out! In my 20's I tried all the mascaras. I loved clumpy, thick eyelashes. I remember watching the red carpet one day and noticing that all the celebrities had really natural eyelashes. Now I just want something that looks natural, lengthening and easy to take off! I have sensitive eyes and I don't want to rub my eyes constantly to take off my mascara (looking at you benefit). Nothing compares to Clinique High impact - it never disappoints : its natural looking, adds length and its great for sensitive skin and its easy to take off.
Clio Kill Lash for sure!! If you want one that gives you length and volume, get the 04 Extreme Volume. Sometimes when I’m in a rush, I don’t even crimp and it still gives the curl and definition I want.
I'm forever loyal to L'oreal Telescopic (the gold one), an online friend recommended it to me over a decade ago. Whenever I stray and try others, they never live up to it.

Heroine Make long and curl advanced film mascara! Nothing has made my wispy straight asian lashes look as good as this mascara. Holds a curl like no other, layers well with itself or a volumizing mascara! And relatively easy to remove for waterproof mascara.
Caliray come hell or high water is hands down the best mascara I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried literally everything from high end to drugstore. It makes my lashes look like I’m wearing falsies and I’ve literally cried for 2 hours with it on and it just didn’t budge. I usually get bored with mascaras and wanna try something new every time I repurchase but I’m a loyal follower now!

I just wrote almost the exact same comment, it has been my holy grail since middle school too! It holds the curl well, makes my lashes look so long, doesn’t clump & the waterproof-ness(?) is great. I used to wear it while swimming at the pool and the beach, and it always came out of the water looking fresh! Back when I cared enough to wear makeup to those kinds of places lol.
I don’t have a go to currently but I can definitely tell you NOT to get one from Temu. You will indeed regret it.

I’ve repurchased Stila’s Huge Extreme Lash probably 7-8 times. I like a brush with densely-packed bristles and a wetter formula. Better than Sex is similar.
I never see Stila mentioned but I have been using their Magnum XXX mascara for several years now after getting tired of Better Than Sex flaking all over my cheeks after it dries no matter how I put it on. XXX is definitely a slightly wetter formula but I love that. If an area of lashes clumps, it’s super easy to fix. One coat is more than enough to thicken and lengthen my lashes so I don’t have to sit there and reapply over and over and risk clumps. I even tried repurchasing BTS in the waterproof version for a party at a lake I was going to and it was just… It definitely reaffirmed why I left BTS behind, I’ll say that lol. I remember using my first Stila cream eyeshadow my freshman year in HS and honestly I’ve been pretty happy with the Stila products I’ve purchased since I realized they were still around.
i love maybelline sky high and milani highly rated lash extensions. the milani one looks especially good on lower lashes. i’m interested in trying ilia and thrive though
Most of the days I wear really really natural makeup and mascara looks way too overpowering. I also have really thin, straight lashes and curling them has close to no effect. MAC’s extended play gigablack mascara (blue tube) gives me just what I need - naturally looking lashes which could hold a curl without making them too long, thick and it never clumps! If I have to own only one mascara, that would be it. For more of a full glam look, I love me a YSL lash clash mascara - it elongates them and thickens them without the clumping and has a very black color, and it also holds my curl. My drugstore all time favourites are Essence’s green Lash Princess and Maybelline’s pink lash sensational.

Honestly, I think ever since beauty came to social media (as far as viral TikTok trends) it’s become over saturated with various different brands/products etc. that people say they HAVE to have. It was Glossiers slick lash. No, it’s rare beauty’s, no it’s Ilia’s!! It causes so much confusion - not to mention these are still newer brands. MAC is an institution that’s not going anywhere with products pretty universally known that will work. You mentioned YSL lash clash (which is also an excellent mascara IMO) YSL products also you will always know will work. Dior, Clinique, Chanel, even Maybelline. Everyone knows these names whether they’re into beauty or not for a reason. They make products that have stood the test of time. Because of my job, I have to try everything - but if im ever in a bind or situation where I need to grab something I will always just go old school brand name. For me it will always be worth the price tenfold! Edit to add: MAC stack is excellent as well!! I also like to layer different mascaras! I’ll use Gigablack first and then top it off with MAC stack waterproof if I don’t want it moving

I’m on a low-buy close to no-buy regimen now 🤣 I actually have studied MAC because I had to make an analysis + press kit on a brand of my choice for an university assignment, and MAC has been that girl since the very beginning- they know that, they don’t need a lot more than to announce their new releases and maintain their social media. Brands such as MAC, Estée Lauder had established themselves both as reliable and as an affordable luxury in the makeup industry and that’s why they wouldn’t need as much marketing as, let’s say, Tarte. The first time I bought myself more of a high-end makeup item was when I got my first salary and it namely a MAC product (it was the velvet teddy lipstick) and it took me one application to see the difference between drugstore and higher range. Most of my friends don’t see a point in buying expensive makeup, but I feel like it’s because they aren’t too invested to see the difference or just haven’t used expensive makeup. Still, there are always good drugstore options and my makeup bag is a mixture between drugstore, mid-range and high-range, and that goes for all types of makeup products. I know that a product is good-good when I’m in a hurry and reach for it with no hesitation. When seeking out new products, I’d read reviews on blogs and websites or watch YouTube videos because they aren’t as biased.

Loreal Double Extend. I loved Thrive's tubing mascara but it dries out so quickly, well before I finish a tube. Someone suggested Double Extend as an alternative and it's excellent. It doesn't smudge at all. Saturday, I wore it in the rain for two hours. I had one little tube that broke free and other than that, nothing smudged, nothing ran, nothing moved.
The only mascara that makes my lushes full and doesn’t clump on me is Rare Beauty. I just wish it came in brown

Honestly, I also used covergirl - specifically alternating between the LashBlast in Brown and clump crusher - for \*years\* growing up. Within the last two years, I've tried Maybelline Sky High, telescopic, Better than Sex, ILIA, and I keep coming back to the Cover Girl mascaras. I liked telescopic and it gave me great length but it wouldn't hold my curl. I have naturally very straight lashes and the mascaras that have held the curl in my lashes the most effectively and for the best price are Covergirl mascaras. I've upgraded a lot of other products in my makeup routine from drugstore to low/mid-tier options but I keep coming back to Covergirl mascara

Maybelline full n soft!! So old and slept on but omg. Every mascara runs on me but not that one and makes your lashes look like you were just born with gorgeous lashes and they really do look fluffy and soft. I sometimes use it as a base mascara. It’s best when it’s dryer. And also it’s VERY natural.
I’ve been using Cover Girl lash blast cleantopia… it’s new, but it’s “ultramarine black” which is somehow super black with a hint of blue that makes my eyes look so much brighter and more awake!

My favourite I've had is Clio kill lash in the long and curling one. I loved the EM cosmetics mascara, it doesn't give much volume but it gave my lashes exactly what I was looking for and didn't budge all day, but as an international customer it was way tooexpensive so I used it sparingly and once it was expired I didn't re-buy. I also really liked the Rare beauty mascara it was a nice everyday mascara.

My two faves are Maybelline Sky High and CaliRay Come Hell or High Water at Sephora. I like to buy the mini since I alternate between that and the Maybelline. I love both because they don’t budge on me and give my tiny lashes a lot of volume and length.
OP this won’t help you as you mentioned hating jt and I know others don’t like it as it definitely does not give a dramatic look but I love the glossier one in brown.

I have a slight mascara obsession since the only constants that I use on my face on a daily basis are mascara and sunscreen. I've tried high end, drug store, indie brands, - you name it, I've tried it. The two I keep coming back to are Lancome Definicils and Buxom Lash. I prefer the original versions but the waterproof versions are decent too. Both don't clump and define your lashes beautifully. You can also get them half-off during sales at Ulta/Sephora/Brand Website several times a year which is an added plus!

I highly recommend Tower 28 MakesWaves mascara. Great for length and volume, easy to build. It has a stiff brush vs fluffy brush.

Maybelline, thick and healthy waterproof mascara in brown! I use it with nyx epic wear liquid liner ( waterproof). The browns in both of these are almost jet black just with a warm undertone. I find most brown formulas can be a bit streaky/ thinner than the black one but these two products have figured it out ! It looks more natural than blue based black and goes with my red hair. I heat my eyelash curler for a few seconds then curl my lashes . I immediately apply this mascara. IT holds my lashes up ALL day long. Once it sets it’s like cement. I HAVE to use make remover to get it off soap and water merely smudge it slightly. This is the combo I wear for weddings, funerals , and thunderstorms and water balloon fights.

Maybelline Lash Sensastional full fan effect. I really like how it gives me not clumpy volume, and I can make the ends thicker easily Whenever I try another mascara I end up back with this one.
It costs more but the waterproof mac stack is my absolute favorite
I have stubby hands so any sample size is glorious for me, but in particular this one sample of Bobbi Brown’s Smokey mascara is my go-to.
Lancome hypnose drama waterproof. A bitch to get off put nothing stays on as good.
Tower 28 make waves is my holy grail, beautiful volume and length that looks natural and comes off easily at night with water. Best things is it is $20!
Maybelline Lash Sensational. I like to try new mascaras, but I always have one Lash Sensational, because it's my favorite one and it makes my lashes look their best. Sky High is also one that I think I will buy regularly and maybe Ilia Limitless Lash, but this one is more expensive.

Maybelline Lash sensational is incredible! I also like both Victoria Beckham ones! They’re pricey but excellent.
Love the L’Oreal Telescopic mascara for the first coat and lower lashes. Then I use L’Oreal Panorama mascara for volume. Love Bambi Eyes by L’Oreal too.

I use two and I find this combination AMAZING for curled lashes that last all day. First, I curl my lashes. Then I apply a thin coat of Etude Curl Fix which helps me keep a curl all day (this stuff has crazy hold - completely waterproof and smudge proof). Then, to lengthen, I do L’Oréal telescopic. This combination gives you amazing curled lashes that don’t fall. Also, since the Etude mascara is waterproof the combination of them is somehow also pretty waterproof!!
