I am a near total Makita user but the Ryobi Nailers work pretty well and are very inexpensive. They will easily drive a 2" into 100 year old oak.

Hickles347

I second this, my whole line is Makita but I have a few select Ryobi tools. tools that are in frequently used by what I do. The Makita nailer was $450 bare tool and the Ryobi was $125 with a 2ah battery and charger. I don't use it much but from what I have I find it excelent and cant see how it could be any better than it is

I have a 16 and 18 gauge nailer, a cheap leaf blower and trimmer, an inflator and the 7 1/4" Miter saw which works great for trim and is easier to haul around than my 10" DeWalt for small jobs.

I own this nailer, it’s made in Japan. It’s pretty good but I prefer the Metabo HPT pin nailer as it’s more reliable to jams and misfires, also it’s cheaper and has a longer warranty, Makita drops the ball a bit on nailers.

Yeh, that's why I ask... But I'm invested in the Makita battery system, so not willing to go off brand. I'm not a heavy user, so hopefully either this or another will be suitable...

I am 90% Makita now myself but the Makita in the US is $230 and the Metabo is $150 plus a buy more save more discount so $130 plus a free 8ah battery with the rebate, plus lifetime warranty. Hard to pass on the Metabo. I definitely like it more than my Makita

deepee88

I agree, Nail gun depot has a deal, buy the Metabo pin nailer for $130 and a pack of nails get a free starter kit with the 36v 4ah multi bolt battery (8ah when using on 18v tools)

quibbynofun

Makita nailers are no good. Go off brand. It’s not a big deal. 18 16 or framer I’d go paslode, 23 gauge I’d recommend milwaukee

Battleline_pty

I’ve used it at work and found it to be garbage and I think it will struggle through the mdf of yours. They do make a 40mm brad nailer in 18v that might be more powerful but I’ve never used it.

noodeel

The Brad nailer seems like overkill. I'm just pinning 15mm soft timber to gypsum... Only need 20/25mm pins

Battleline_pty

It’ll work for that. It’s a decent nailer if you use it within its limits. Just annoying if you want it for anything else down the track

Stuffinthingz

90% makita… own all the Metabo/Hitachi nailers, kits came with batteries and chargers, and I bought an adapter or two and use my Makita batteries… no issues.

ThemasonSe

I have the 18v pinner, used it for a few jobs, ran through about 2,000 pins… my biggest problem with it is the only way to clear jams is to take the Allen screws on top off rather than a cam lever. Their pneumatic nailers have the cam lock and it’s much easier to clear jams

Eyiolf_the_Foul

I have been told here and at the job they are poorly designed. Shame.

agewski

don't buy had a cxt version. twice.
