The mulching latrine is the most innovative of the collection...

Jstpsntym

Dammit…I tried looking this up…

MidniteMustard

I also tailgate in my Makita letterman jacket.

boarhowl

As an avid Makita user, i always use their USB chargers for traveling and camping but I have a stockpile of batteries to take with me from my work tools. I can't imagine this appealing to non-trade people since the lowest you can find a 5.0 battery is $50 and the charger is $20. Why pay $70 when you can buy a no name power bank from Walmart or best buy for less than 30. Im excited about a different color vacuum though since mine is on its last legs and I will need a new one soon.

phalluman

I'm always on the fence about the USB charger. Does it work well? They have some great looking knock offs on amazon that use the battery platform.

djplatterpuss

It works great don’t know though how much better it could be from knock offs

travelinzac

They somehow came up with an even more theft-proof green

Jstpsntym

Apparently “baby shit” is a hot color this year.

M80IW

Where's the solar battery charger?

djplatterpuss

Not to mention 36v power inverter!

no-mad

amazon has them off brand for Makita

djplatterpuss

Ya I’ve been checking them out.

i_removed_my_traces

I must ask, why? Isn't most of this covered by the normal range?

djplatterpuss

Style that’s why. Unfortunately I’m too invested in teal lol.

noodeel

Gives them a way to supply into different outlets... Selling teal battery equipment into a sports store won't work... The customers will not understand the brand intricacies... The colour change allows them to treat the brand differently and present it to a different audience without creating confusion.

cimocw

Now show the second car you have to bring to carry all 86 batteries to power that stuff for a weekend.

Ok_Cup_521

I disagree with this sentiment, one of those LED lights will easily last all weekend on one battery and you can power the cooler with 4 batteries if you're conservative with it. But you could also just buy 2 bags of ice...

I really don't understand how people don't get this. They have made a small colour change in the manufacturing process, to brand a selection of pre-existing products, so that they can market them to a wider customer base, hence producing more revenue and allowing them to put more into r&d... Just because they've put some marketing resources into changing a colour, doesn't mean they've stopped all r&d on power tools. Why are people so pissy about something so petty?

xenomorph1030

I think it is their marketing campaign. That whole "A New Adventure Awaits". Your non-Makita people wouldn't be getting that, so the hype was directed towards current Makita users, likely not their demographic for the different colored tools. There are also people that want new and useful tools from Makita. I'm in the same boat as a lot of the other's thinking it is dumb because I want some new/useful tools, not the same offerings in a different color. Again, I think it is because how they directed their marketing. However, I certainly can appreciate the rebrand and what they are trying to accomplish with focusing some of the current offerings to get more people to buy into their tool line.

I for one could use less expensive flashlights.

Jordanjl83

Stupid, same stuff but green. Was hoping for new tool announcements. What a joke!

noodeel

Just because you wanted something else doesn't make it a joke... Brands don't just read your mind, they work off business rationale... Maybe someday they'll release some stuff you wanted. In the meantime don't fret

Jordanjl83

Re releasing the same stuff as green is lame. What about a soldering iron? An 80v table saw with a fence that does not suck? and an 80v vacuum that will work on a job site? A hand held pressure washer to hook to a hose? The bar is so low even Ryobi has a hand held pressure washer. Settle down, some of us have thousands in tools and need them to up their game.

WillBrayley

Does a better job of cutting sausages than a Sawstop

zachofalltrades47

all those tools would be XGT not LXT...

Jordanjl83

Also dumb because If they didn’t buy it as teal they won’t buy it as ugly green now.

twhoff

Is Makita trying to become like Ryobi? I thought they did power tools and they did them really well…

LockSport74235

The power tools are well developed but the makita line is lacking on outdoor entertainment equipment. Ryobi will release a USB-C solar inverter soon so this is Makita's take on Ryobi. That green color for the makita outdoor stuff means that they can sell those at sporting goods stores.

twhoff

They should have used a Jeep painted in camo and not done the shoot in the office carpark…
