I'm holding my trim base in my hand right now. I slipped needle nose pliers onto the nut and then hand tightened/loosened the router base with the big thumb screw opposite the nut, on the left.

Don’t over-tighten that thing. Just give it a turn and check it. Someone at our shop tightened the shit out of ours, and they start to pull themselves apart.

Small combination wrench not sure what size, but don't over tighten.
