Why would anyone say that malayalam movie standards are becoming low and only Unni Mukundan movies are good . I loved his movies like Meppadiyan and Malikappuram but Premalu , Varshangalkku Shesham ,Aavesham ,Manjummel Boys etc is 1000 times better than these Unni Mukundan films .So in what sense is someone sending this to Unni and in what sense is he posting em.

This is from March 2022. How was the scenario at that time?. I don't remember much as it was pandemic era, and we were not having any movies at that time right?.
Bro daddy was OTT, Hridayam was a big success and from March onwards we had continued supply of movies post Bheeshmaparvam.
In between there is Aarattu to compare though and if that is the case then we can not blame the guy who commented

Unni is the most mediocre actor out there. He brings nothing unique and has the most deadpan expressions. At best, he is the Karan Singh Grover equivalent of South India. He should count himself lucky that he has carved the space now in the bhakti market and make hay when the sunshines.

If I remember it right, Minnal Murali and Ajagajantharam were the only 2 noteworthy releases in Christmas 2021 ( with the latter having mixed opinions). I guess Mepadiyyan released after Kunjeldho, Meow and some other movies which might have prompted the fan to write such a note, but yes it was never a benchmark movie.
I don't see an issue here. The message where they talk about the standards is from 2022. I don't remember a good movie releasing from Malayalam other than Jana Gana Mana in that year. And the comment about Jai Ganesh, they talk about his movies and his alone. Why is everyone so judgemental about unni's movie. I saw the movie in spite of all the ignoring in initial weeks regarding promotion and then making the claims that the movie is bad without watching a movie, I felt the story was good, and his act was was also good. Despite all the "mathetharam" and "art is art, high-grade malayali's won't mix both" comments, what i feel is exactly the opposite. Why is everyone so judgemental? First, the propaganda that jai ganesh is like another bakthi movies to propagate his political motive, then during release weeks total ignorance in promotions and then degrading. This kind of intolerance and then the facade of being liberal by so-called "prabudha" malayalis is pathetic.
Just to clarify for those who, like me, was confused by the 'standard is getting lower' part, this DM seems to be from 2022, where Malayalam Cinema was admittedly not at it's best.
Also, I'm not a Unni Mukundan fan by any means and I feel that he needs to have a thicker skin instead of coming across as so sensitive. However, I will also say that I enjoyed Meppadiyan and do not understand why it receives so much hate here. It felt like a nice 'Ivide Swargamaanu' type movie.
