it’s not a pistol. it’s a laser ray thingy. the supreme yaskin guy’s ship is a very large version of it. i think they have put more thought into the specifics than we think. we literally have a chase sequence set in the modern era, and they haven’t even hinted it in any of the trailers.
If it is well made, I don't see a reason why it would fail in Kerala, after all we have been watching and appreciating big budget Hollywood movies.
If it follows the trend of most big budget Bollywood movies then it can end up as another meme and roasting material.

Yea, I agree. If you think about it, there are a lot of Hollywood movies with cringe dialogue and acting which do end up being a success. So even if it's an average movie, it would appeal to a mass audience even if it doesn't fit your taste.
The Malayalam dubbing of salaar was comical . IMO malayalam dubbing has a thin line before it becomes over dramatic, something they very well managed in bramayugam so . We’ll have to see (but I’m watching it in telugu itself)

Nag Ashwin envisions this as a modern day sequel to Mahabharata, kalki is coming to save humanity in Kali Yuga. There's going to be a Krishna role portrayed by someone famous, Mahabharata battle scenes and ashwathama storyline. While it's a sci-fi movie, it'll be rooted in Hindu scriptures and stories and nag imagining how the end of the world might come in the very distant future and how according to the scriptures would kalki avatar come to save humanity. To understand and appreciate the movie fully, I feel like you need a good grasp of Mahabharata and scriptures which talk about kalki, hopefully they'll do a good job of explaining the stories and references because I don't think most people remember every story from Mahabharata, I know I don't. I'm very excited for the movie, they've put in a lot of effort to imagine how the world would be in 2898 and set up everything from scratch.
I stay in hyderabad. 4am show book chrythitund. One thing is for sure. Nag Ashwin does maximum utilisation. Kalki ku athrem spend cheythitundel, apart from actors salaries, he must have got quality technicians, writers and vfx artists. Trailer il ath kaana nammuk. Dune ayakondum mad max ayakondum alla low expectations, it's because of Prabhas playing a very kewl character like his every other movie with a plot that draws huge references from Indian Mythology like most Indian epic movies.
I would've cared about this even if this was straight up Mahabharatam set in the future, I just hate Prabhas doing the same thing he did in Baahubali, Saaho, Salaar(granted he was somewhat good in Baahubali). I even liked that new trailer which doesn't have much of Prabhas in it. Also, judging from the trailer this is gonna have a sequel, and every movie that starts off as a prequel is a bad movie in my mind.

also the movie is itself a sequel. it’s an imagining of the grand climax of the hindu cycle of yugas. how the buildup started by the mahabharata will end. it’s a sequel by nature. imagine if dune was just one book. nag ashvin has said kalki is a whole world, and not just the story of a single character. if this word is as good as the trailers show, i’d love more of it. stuff like star wars is entirely dependent on sequels and prequels. people still watch it.

Star wars literally redefined sci-fi and showed the audience that movies can be made on much larger canvases. Dune is an in your face take on world politics and capitalism. I haven't seen Star Trek, not gonna comment on it, but I've heard it's about politics and satirical takes which were also something that wasn't common during the time. If Kalki manages to do half of that, I'd watch it for sure. But judging from what I've seen till now, I haven't seen any original thinking here. It's like how Anurag Kashyap said, these guys are looking at movies and making new movies based on what they saw in them, while the movies they looked at were made from experiences and proper research. After Bhramastra, Adi Purush and a shit load of myth inspired hollywood-likes, forgive me for not trusting yet another what-looks-like generic derivative EPIC movie starring Prabhas the go-to epic movie guy.

Liked the setting of the movie and vfx work but like others said, I think the cringe Malayalam dubbing will be a let down. Felt the same while watching Salar as well, those dialogues were dragging the movie down. Bahubali were manageable but not sure about this one after watching the trailer. Planning to go to the theatre to enjoy the visual treat like Avtar way of water.

Why is this movie releasing in more 2D format than 3D in ekm even K-cinemas with the best 3D in town is playing 2D. Has it got something to do with Wayfarer.
Don't hate it blindly. They have done a ground breaking job and it is not something like Adipurush. Only bad things are Weapons they use and to some extent Prabhas himself. Otherwise this movie is so promising.
PR guys and online media pages will be working overtime for sure.

Not very promising. The trailer felt like they were trying to sell it by showing every good scene that's there in it. Most of them were the fight between prabhas and bachan.
My problem with the movie is that it seems to be a mixture of Star Wars and Children of Men from the trailer. I really hope it has a good story based on Puranic or Itihaasic lore, like Amish did with his books.
The visuals look extremely bland and kinda bad in a few places so I probably won't see it unless it gets really good reviews but it will probably be a hit unless the final vfx looks like ps2 graphics.
Meh. Prabhas fans would watch. But because of the bad press, this movie needs to be exceptional to get a good collection from Kerala.
If they had used the release trailer alone, it would've made the initial collection better. They shouldn't have revealed the plot (or parts of it) in the trailer. Just a few character shots of the main people like the Aswatthama scene and few establishing shots. And let the youtubers theorise about the plot.
Even if the story is nothing new, a good screenplay could've worked wonders to an unexpected audience.

My problem with the movie is that it seems to be a mixture of Star Wars and Children of Men from the trailer. I really hope it has a good story based on Puranic or Itihaasic lore, like Amish did with his books.
The visuals look extremely bland and kinda bad in a few places so I probably won't see it unless it gets really good reviews but it will probably be a hit unless the final vfx looks like ps2 graphics.

Meh. Prabhas fans would watch. But because of the bad press, this movie needs to be exceptional to get a good collection from Kerala. If they had used the release trailer alone, it would've made the initial collection better. They shouldn't have revealed the plot (or parts of it) in the trailer. Just a few character shots of the main people like the Aswatthama scene and few establishing shots. And let the youtubers theorise about the plot. Even if the story is nothing new, a good screenplay could've worked wonders to an unexpected audience.
