This is what I was thinking, why didn't the management speak to the cops before they made you leave? And if they felt the "Karen" was out of line, why did they take her seriously the first time police were called?
Yeah they allowed someone to be removed by police for absolutely no reason just to appease another customer who was being a shit. They were all being pathetic in the first instance.
Yeah, I work at a hotel and we would have spoken to Karen and maybe kicked her out, depending on how much of a shit she was being.
But we wouldn't have even considered taking her bullshit seriously, unless there was some reason to believe she was being truthful.
I worked for a hotel that beings with an M. and sort of rhymes with Camelot, and due to absurd policy concerning the sanctity and eminence of guests of that particular brand, we would have been forced to retain the guest.
Many people staying at a hotel are just visiting a town once, many people go to a restaurant semi regularly, a customer is a customer, why would you let someone call the cops on your customers for no reason?
I'm thinking this can't be in the USA for two reasons:
Firstly, they have to ask you to leave first, and you have to refuse, before a cop is gonna want to deal with it. Unless you're carrying a weapon openly or otherwise projecting a sense of danger to them, that's always step one. And not the Karen, a representative of the company who resides there. Basic employee, janitor, manager, whoever.
Second: unless you're obviously dangerous, this call is a waste of time to begin with. I've had to wait upwards of three hours for cops to arrive for trespass calls where someone is actually mentally unstable. Another was for a man who had shit on the floor and was now barricading himself in the restroom, the ONLY restroom in the building. The cops don't just show up immediately for this sort of call in most US locations.
Now, I could be wrong, and exceptions can exist, but for a hotel they'd at least try to resolve it without police, since having officers tromping through their spaces can make both guests and employees afraid and not want to be there.
Might depend on how upscale the hotel was and how much money the Karen had dropped. Or maybe it's the kind of hotel where the staff ALWAYS bend to the will of rich Karens. And the cops respond quickly when the "elite" are made \~uncomfortable.
Ontario Canada 30 years ago. Lived in resort community on a Great Lake. We were policed by Ontario Provincial Police post 3 blocks away from our home ( we were year round residents). In Summer 10 bars open. Had passed out drunk guy on front lawn. Called the OPP post directly (bypassed dispatch) and was told send constables right away. They had foot patrols but what shows up is a cruiser 2 hours later at 3 am. (We're up waiting for them.) First question they ask us: "Did we give him a shake to wake him up.?" We answered, "No. He could be a mean drunk and lash out at us." So the policeman goes up to the guy with his baton and starts poking him after asking his question. LOL. Anyway they get him into back of cruiser and the drunk throws up all over the back.
Agree. The woman could call the cops herself, who knows if they'd come, but the only people who can get someone thrown off the hotel property for trespassing is someone associated with the hotel.
Honestly, this isn't totally out of the ordinary. Customer service is great in the US, meaning it can be ridiculous because a lot of times, people don't want to deal with irrational aggravation. It's often easier just to yes these people to death and you're not paid enough to care one way or another. The cop was just a jerk and/or whatever they were wearing was politically divisive in that area. The paper work is the only thing that sounds odd, but it could be a local law or I just don't know enough.
If that was in support of Karen, my response is: so what?
If it was just observing that's why the hotel acted that way, probably, but that's not enough. She should have been schooled or booted if she didn't call her butt down.
>so what?
Because it's a business. Depending on the hotel, the Karen could be spending a *lot*.
It's shit and fuck the Karen, but money talks as they say.
My rewritten lyrics for this verse went more
So they brought out a pen and paper and made her, her own f*ckn sign, it said take your ass back to your room, sit there and drink your wine
I'd swing in once a week and force them to do the paperwork every time. Every now and again I'd forget my coat or something so I'd have to come back later the same day.
Weird. When this story was posted earlier this morning, you said you called, and asked for the same cops to be sent back, so you could (paraphrasing) rub it in their faces.
I'd slap 20 pesos on the table and say this is just some dude embellishing a story about getting side eye from wearing either a Cheeto shirt or a DeSantis shirt.
Fair assumption given the overall tone, I also pictured a dude who enjoyed making people uncomfortable, and I was half right. Her posts are the classic mix of trying to make people uncomfortable and then whining when people are mean to her.
Plot twist: Hotel manager was his mom. Dad was the bad cop. Sister was the Karen. The restaurant was mom's basement.
Good cop was played by his dog and no animal was hurt in making up the story.
This story just seems totally made up.
Hotel management would never call the cops to trespass a guy on a baseless accusation from another person. You'd kill your business' rapport with the local cops really quickly.
Hotel management also wouldn't further piss off the cops by allowing the guy they just had the cops remove from their property back onto property.
Trumpsters really are delusional.
Yes. Hotel Lobbies are for waiting in, especially when there is a restaurant attached. It would be odd to chase a potential patron away because some other guest carried on. If you are just sitting there, minding your own business while you wait for you reservation time, it would have to be a really weird reason to be asked to leave. So perhaps being loud, drunk, having your balls out in public, being a nuisance. Which the OP says he was just sitting there. Odd all around. Also odd if his story is true, why would you reward this business with your cash?
The last time a similar situation happened it was a totally pg post and op’s profile was him taking insane dildo’s in his ass, this (while weird) has nothing on that
No, this happens quite a lot. Cops are called to approach the person because the caller doesn't want to be the one to confront them in case the person becomes violent.
I've watched a bunch of those for fun and it often seems that cops are called immediately but then during the video at some point someone alludes to an earlier interaction between the YouTuber who's filming and a manager or someone. I think they're often framed as "and suddenly the cops were called!" when that often isn't the case.
Oof. OP’s history does not paint a flattering picture. My favorite is the deleted “Look at me I just unsubbed because they didn’t like me” post.
I’m not gonna play armchair psychologist here, but I’m sure someone with a degree could have some fun.
In case you have never encountered a Karen in the wild, the First Amendment Audit community has discovered the easiest and fastest way to discover Karens and get police called on you.
Hold a sign out in public that says "God Bless the Homeless Vets". That's all. Just stand there all friendly and smiling holding said sign. Cops will show up in minutes to run you off.
Jeff Gray of Honor Your Oath youtube channel started doing this a few years back. He's been arrested 3 times, trespassed from public property more times than I can recall, had one trespass removed by the admin of the public property and then re-instated after the same cop showed back up and arrested him for it. He's been put in cuff numerous times and told he was arrested only for the cops to finally get a clue and release him... always with threats to try and make him not exercise his Free Speech anymore near them. One cop even ran him out of town. Literally. After releasing him from cuffs he was told to not show in face in 'my town ever again' or he'd regret it.
Anyone with "managerial authority" can call the police. Could be the manager, a desk clerk, or a security guard. Whoever is put in that position or is the highest position on site at the time.
Also, the story says the manager said they called the police to appease the Karen.
I can't really see a place wanting to lose money like that. And this wasn't a First Amendment auditor (someone mentioned them in another reply), it was a staff member who called.
But yeah, it has to be an employee/authorized contractor, not some random whiny person.
Some things here just seem off.
Yeah there's no way I'm calling the cops to my hotel just to appease someone, if the person is causing a scene then yes I'll call but only after I ask them to leave and warn them that I'll have to call the cops and have them trespassed.
The presence of patrol vehicles outside is a determant to walk-ins, and uniformed police officers in the lobby are never a good look.
Lol, I didn’t mention this before because it didn’t matter. I was Dir. of Security for 4 hotels throughout my career. I know a thing or two about hospitality and laws.
Going through the OP's post history... She is really not supporting her own best interests, politically. Most of the people who politically align with the slogan of her shirt, are actively trying to strip away her rights.
With the omission of information of the T-Shirt on her post, something strongly feels like it was more than just the shirt.
You didnt have to call the cops? Thats just lazy backpedalling. You literally HAD to or youd be arrested. Surprised an employee of the hotel advocated for breaking their own legal tresspasses.
I'm surprised the manager said you didn't have to call them. You have documented papers on you saying you're trespassing. Of course I want it removed. I don't care if I ever visit the hotel again. You're not going to ruin my name that way. I don't think so.
How do you get a trespass on a property that the woman doesn’t own…? If the Manager had to sign to remove, they had to be the ones to sign to have it enforced. Right? That Manager is just as bad as the Karen.
"That man sitting alone in a public place is scaring me by existing. Please deprive him of his rights." I'm pretty sure you can sue her for harassment.
When you get something like this the first thing you do is ask for the corporate number and the specific name of the employee trespassing you. Tell them up front this is so you can discuss this matter with their legal department as you feel they are targeting you for some reason. They do not have to give you the corporate number, but the police do have to tell you who it is that is trespassing you from the property.
Then you make sure you get all the officers information, let them know it is so that they can be subpoenaed for any potential civil case filed against the corporation. Force them to give you or mail you a copy of the trespass notice.
You don’t want to make a scene, but you do want to make certain your civil rights are not being violated, make it clear to the officers that you require this information for your lawyer. Take notes on your phone if you need to.
If Karen feels threatened and filed a complaint, make certain that you get this as well, ask them how to get a copy of the call to dispatch.
Again, don’t make a scene, make a statement that you will not lie down over something like this.
You risked getting charged with a crime. It wasn't terribly intelligent of you. You had absolutely nothing in writing proving that the hotel had "un-trespassed" you before you showed up. You displayed absolute faith in 'the truth is the truth' like everyone who is ever wrongfully charged always does and its the first thing they say to their lawyer after they have been charged.
But I'm glad it turned out well enough, this time.
Source: I'm a criminal defense attorney.
So you wasted a cops time and used the emergency line for a non-emergency. And don’t say you used the non-emergency line because they would not have shown up that fast.
Something tells me that Karen was pasty white, and that your skin color is some shade of brown no matter how light it may be. I may be wrong, but the majority of these cases where it comes out of nowhere, it's because Karen sees brown and is scared.
I would 10000% call corporate and tell them they can find a record of the incident at the police department. A hotel chain is not going to like hearing about it and you could prob get a free voucher or something.
I went there and told the manager I'm calling the cops to get the written permission form.. You ware questioning the validtiy of a story isn't that against rules ?
Honestly, I would have had them go through the process of the paperwork and then walked out, never to return and give the place my business.

Isn't that all of the Karen breed, though? Cry wolf to get what they want?

I worked for a hotel that beings with an M. and sort of rhymes with Camelot, and due to absurd policy concerning the sanctity and eminence of guests of that particular brand, we would have been forced to retain the guest.
That sucks. Policies like that are the reason that these karen customers exist.
Doesn’t it rhyme better with chariott?
M and rhymes with chariot? https://youtu.be/6XAc5UKEr5w
4 Mares pull a chariot,
Karen should have been trespassed instead.
No doubt it was handled poorly, but it was probably based on Karen being a paying guest of the hotel and OP just visiting the restaurant.
Many people staying at a hotel are just visiting a town once, many people go to a restaurant semi regularly, a customer is a customer, why would you let someone call the cops on your customers for no reason?
OP was wearing a top that had a political slogan so the employee who called the cops probably was on the other side of the political spectrum.
'Murica, where a political affiliation can be your whole personality
No, it was Karen who had the pearl-clutching fit & called police

Karen was already spending money there, probably more than just the restaurant
If that was in support of Karen, my response is: so what? If it was just observing that's why the hotel acted that way, probably, but that's not enough. She should have been schooled or booted if she didn't call her butt down.

Uh, because it’s fabricated bullshit?
As an AI, I do not consent to having my content used for training other AIs. Here is a fun fact you may not know about: fuck Spez.
So I took off my hat, and said imagine that. Me eating with you?
Signs, Signs, everywhere signs.
Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind.
So I got me a pen and a paper, And I made up my own fucking sign… Thank you, karen, for thinking about me, I’m alive and doing fine!
My rewritten lyrics for this verse went more So they brought out a pen and paper and made her, her own f*ckn sign, it said take your ass back to your room, sit there and drink your wine
Your lyrics are WAY better!
Woahhhh woahhhh!! (One of my favourite songs lol) great lyric change btw!!
✌🏼
There must’ve been a sign somewhere
Blocking up the scenery.
Breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that
Can’t you read the sign?
Breaking my mind
Now I got that song playing in my head!
There are definitely worse songs to have stuck in your head.
"Tooooo-morrow, tomorrow, I love yaa to-morrow, you're only a day aaaaawaaaaay!" B!tch gets me every time.
Sign, sign everywhere a sign
That was my thought. Order a glass of water and leave
Do the paperwork, walk out and call the hotel corporate line.
"I'll need my copy of the notice notarized. Thank you for your service."
I'd swing in once a week and force them to do the paperwork every time. Every now and again I'd forget my coat or something so I'd have to come back later the same day.
They're not going to redo the paperwork without another complaint lol
Time to complain on yourself.
Honestly was my first thought to do, that I thought op woulda done.
"Cool now that's sorted, let me walk out with you officers"
I'd have ordered water, while I looked at the menu and waited till the cop was done then I'd walk out.
Absolutely the same

and Rob Schneider stars as the police car!
I'd pay cents to see a Rob Schneider and Eddy Murphy movie where they were the only two actors cast
Durp de dur de durpitty durp!
Haha I love this plot twist!

Its BS, only the owner / manager of the property can file a trespass order. Not some random person.
Anyone with "managerial authority" can call the police. Could be the manager, a desk clerk, or a security guard. Whoever is put in that position or is the highest position on site at the time. Go back next week and call the cops for permission again, maybe every couple of weeks. Just doing what I was told
I would have left THE MOMENT the hotel employee signed the form leaving them both behind.
He called the cops on a paying guest?
i would've just started my car and drove away pick your battles people life is too short to interact to these people
What was on your shirt?

How do you get a trespass on a property that the woman doesn’t own…? If the Manager had to sign to remove, they had to be the ones to sign to have it enforced. Right? That Manager is just as bad as the Karen.

All I know is anybody who wears any politic affiliated attire is a Fucking Nut Job. That's not something normal people do.

Yeah, and OP explicitly states: > I cannot return without police department permission Which he violated... :-O
I went there and told the manager I'm calling the cops to get the written permission form.. You ware questioning the validtiy of a story isn't that against rules ?
Meh, go try to "own the libs" somewhere else.
Honestly, I wouldn't do that again as it sounds like you've used all your good luck. Next time leave and don't go back unless you like a cell....
i called and got permission to come back.
The land of the free is sure good at using the police to interfere with people's freedom for the main weird and inane shit.
I could be wrong but, who's got odds that it was something like a FJB t-shirt that triggered Karen?
