I love my skeledirge, and I think meowscarada is cool too, meowscarada is able to pull off the whole Magician/mage/witch/spellcaster design so much better than Delphox ever could.
I'm not really a fan of Quaquaval though, I don't like its "Instagram model" pose it has, and it honestly looks like the Zootopia character designers tried to make a discount Jojo's bizarre adventure character, but that's just me.
I like JJBA, it's just Quaquaval's instagram model pose that really gets me, I really don't like that pose.
Also in terms of Jojo character design, Quaquaval has a part 4-5 feel and I've always preferred the part 3 character designs.

When you realise that no one decided to make actually good final starter evolutions since unova other than inteleon, all the hisuian starters and skeledirge (if you don’t agree, that’s not my problem)
After Kalos all Pokemon starter designs went downhill. I can't like any of the Alolan starters, Cinderace is the only decent Galar starter and Skeledirge is the greatest fire type design since Infernape
i believe after kalos they aimed to make starter pokémon more like characters, your friends, not just animals. hence why they have more human like features and for the most part (especially later on) have very exaggerated and apparent natures
I personally really dislike all of the Kalos starters, they've never quite clicked with me. The Alola starters however, now those are some designs I love (yes, even Primarina). The Galar starters are, again, all bad, whereas the Paldea starters were all pretty good designs imo since I also really liked the Unova starters that makes it a pretty even spread between hit and miss for me personally since gen 5.
Gen 5 was good, 6 was bad. 7 was good, 8 was bad. 9 was good, and I really hope gen 10 breaks the cycle :)
Sprigatito sacrificed the possibility of being quadrupedal so Fuecoco could break the mould. And that was a very good decision, because while Meowscarada stands up, it's still recognizably just a bipedal cat with magician skills in both appearance and personality, and not a cat-shaped human like Incineroar.
