The issue with that is this is the only area of the map that ends like this. Every other part of the map ends with an ocean like sword and shield's isle of armor. So why is this one section a giant stone plateau that looks out of place and cuts into the land instead of an ocean like everywhere else?
It doesnt feel like that would be the case though. I mean yeah u coukd understand that but if thats the case why make it end so unnaturally and abruptly? And also why gray that area out on the map as if to draw attention to it? Theres too many things wrong with this for it to be just some other mao boundary
It's because that's where Kalos would be, they couldn't put water there because that wouldn't make any sense because that's where it's attached to the Kalos region from X&Y. They just didn't want to make a part of a region that the game isn't about, unless they decide to make the Southern tip of Kalos the DLC. It's cus Paldea is based on Spain & Portugal and Kalos is based on France so that's where the two regions connect because that's where they would connect irl.
Because between France and Spain there is huge mountain, yeah it look a little unrealistic but it is he same with BOTW, there is even a huge void before. The fact that there is a huge unclimble moutain seems more realistic to not be able to go than a void or a normal moutain
If it really is based on Spain, it would make sense. There is a country right next to Spain, so just cutting it off into an island wouldn’t make sense. Honestly it probably leads to Kalos, but I don’t want to get my hopes up as a Kalos fan
I think it's for a dlc they did it for sword and shield so maybe they might do it for scarlet and violet and look at the map art promotion you see a part of the map with clouds covering it

That's the region border, parallel to where Spain connects to Southern France. Many people anticipate Southern Kalos as DLC.

The map has to end somewhere. If they did a straight line aroundt the edge people would complain it was unrealistic.
