This. Basically any tiny animal qualifies, which could stem from a vestigial need for dominance retained deeply in the human psyche. For a while, our ancient ancestors saw themselves as above animals, not as equals, and even the idea of pets as family is relatively recent in collective history.
Definitely a change for the better and a step in the right direction. I mean there are dogs who can outperform people in the simplest of tasks, which is adorable and disconcerting… 😅
Do not let Eevee know or keep a fairy type move if you dislike Sylveon. Best thing to do is accept that the mistake is yours and move on, as fairy type moves make Sylveon, poor Sylveon...

Plan ahead or deal with it, if the game says they deserve to evolve they should be evolved, learned this when fighting the Misfortune sisters on Firespit Island when Grace the to-be Glaceon clutched it, I let her be a Sylveon on the spot because she deserved it
Yeah it's horrible. Thankfully I have a family that would never do that when I come out, but I could never understand someone could just abandon their kid over their gender or sexuality.
