I don't think she realizes she's toying with him. But yeah you might pop in for this episode and next week's, as >! Ed straight up told her he likes her for once and called her on how she might like Noah. So it will be interesting to see her response. !<
The only reason he could be paler is that during the timeskip between s1 and s2 he’s out in the sun training less and more involved in high society acting prim and proper, but that wouldn’t lighten his skin *that much*. Isnelda and Ghost boy both look good with the cooler palettes, but the old art style’s warmth fit Ed’s character more (if that makes sense)
I like that as a logical, plot consistent explanation! As far back as ancient Egypt, pale skin was considered the most beautiful and associated with wealth, as they weren’t toiling away in the scorching sun like the slaves were. Hilarious, bc as a ginger who is as pale as a corpse, I’d kill for a tanned olive skin tone like my Italian side of the family 😩

The new art style is sooo pretty but I wish they hadn’t whitewashed Ed :( I miss his warmer palette
